My Seattle Kraken Mock Expansion Draft (Pre-Deadline)
I disagree with u on the Philly pic . Let’s see in a couple of years . Jett will be top steel of the draft
Anaheim did not need Demidov, they already have Zegras who is a similar "highlight-reel" player. They felt Sennecke was a better fit because of his size and dominant playoffs performance. They also felt that Sennecke won't fall much and not many teams in the top 10 were willing to give up assets to trade up because the top 10-12 players in this draft were in the same tier. Solid pick for the Duck looking forward. Demidov should fit beautifully in Montreal, they needed a creative player who will "put people into seat" although this is never a problem in Montreal. Levshunov is a gem as RHD that Chicago needed, as well.
I don't think Demidov and Zegras are very similar players, Demidov is a naturally gifted playmaker with elite skill but not the same hands as Zegras and there have been lots of talks of Zegras being on the trade block so I don't know how highly Anaheim views him, Demidov also plays the wing and with the likes of Mctavish, Gauthier and Carlsson they need a playmaking winger for one of those centers in my opinion. Sennecke can be a good fit in Anaheim if he pans out, I just think it is a big risk with safer and better options available.
I really like the Montreal Canadiens, I have a couple of questions. What would you grade the David Reinbacher pick? Also who will end up being the best Russian player, Matvei Michkov, Ivan Demidov or Ivan Ryabkin from next years draft?
I think Reinbacher will be a solid NHL player so I'd probably give it a B, it's more so scrutinized because of the fact that Michkov was on the board. In terms of those three Russian prospects I believe Michkov will be the best and will be one of the best players in the league for years to come, I think it would've been a lot closer between him and Bedard in last year's draft if there was no character concerns or Russian factor with Michkov.
@loganglover3134 So with Michkov being the best out of the 3 prospects, who will be second best out of Demidov and Ryabkin? Have you heard of Ryabkin? He is the best Russian prospect for the 2025 draft.
@@DarthMaster09 I haven’t looked too deep into Ryabkin but from what I’ve seen he should be very good but it’ll be tough for me to rank him above Demidov until I see what he can do in his draft year and if he can compete with the likes of Martone and Hagens for the top spot in the class in the way Demidov did. It’ll take a lot though because Demidov had better DY-1 numbers and took a major step this season.
@@loganglover3134 Can Demidov be a 100+ point player one day? Montreal hasn't had a player of this caliber in ages. Also, will Demidov be better than both Lindstrom and Sennecke?
@@DarthMaster09 I believe he can be a 100+ point scorer, he should fit in great playmaking for either Slafkovsky or Caufield, I believe he is better and safer than both Lindstrom and Sennecke, I had him ranked as the number 2 prospect in this class.
The Ducks and Sens should have traded down.
Nice video. Keep creating and you should be able to increase your viewership and subscription numbers. Thanks, Leo from Beantown
Lindstrom is one hit away from a career ending injury, I wouldn't have touched him.
@@elvisisalive2716 The injuries are definitely a concern with him but the teams have all done extensive medical testing and feel the risk is worth it, and if he stays healthy he should be dominant.
Sennecke was definitely off the board but after watching his elite prospects video holy hell does he have some hands and hockey IQ. Its either gonna look horrible in a few years or Verbeek will look like a genius.
Agree on some of those but wrong on Vanacker. I'm confident he's just getting started and he will continue to impress. He's skilled, determined, high hockey IQ and plays with a chip. Led his team in points (team finished second in their division), tied for second in the OHL in short handed goals, and top 12 in regular season points in the OHL amongst all ages (he's second year). He was underrated in his draft class going into the OHL (last pick, first round) and think time will show the same for this NHL draft.
Vegas picking Connelly was just so fitting, kid with questionable character going to a franchise that treats its players questionably at best.
You are completly wrong with Yakemchuk. You talk of pairing him next to Sanderson and Parekh would be better because of his risky offense, but ideally you want Sanderson to be free and there to be a responsible people moving defenceman by his side. The ideal first pair should be puck mover and people mover a player that can do both is special.
Yes but I was more so talking in the sense that if the Sens were worried about Parekh’s lack of defense, they have options with Sanderson to help insulate him to full activate Parekh’s offensive upside with minimal risk.
Montreal currently have two young goalies who were great last year, and they have 2 hot goalies cooking in the minors. They have a lot of talent at defense, only needs more experience, as well as having 2 more hot stud defenders in the minors. They needed more offensive punch, which they got in Demidov and Hage. Also, they're considered one of the teams with the best prospect pool in the league. They're following their plan to a T and I am excited to see how they improve in the next 3 years.
Yup the Habs are set up beautifully for the future and I expect them to be making an impact sooner than people think.
They would match up well with Anaheim for one of those goalies. Anaheim has a surplus or C and LW.
Great video! Thanks for your input 👍
Agree about Sennecke and Yakemchuck. They could be good players, there were way too many better even safer options still on the board in guys like Parekh, Silayev, Buium and Dickinson.
Yup, that’s it exactly, both players are great in their own right but with the options on the board I can’t get behind the selections.
Ducks with a massive L. They could have set themselves up to absolutely dominate with youngsters. Demidov should have been the pick
@@nerdpolice829 100%. The Demidov pick is going to look good for Montreal.
a few years too early I'm afraid
Obviously these grades will change over time as the prospects develop and I’m sure plenty of these guys will prove me wrong but this is just an instant reaction to the type of prospects and their fit with that team.
Catton at a B is wild
As I said I love Catton as a prospect, had ridiculous numbers in the W this year i simply wasn’t the biggest fan of the fit considering all the top dmen were available, many of whom I had ranked above Catton, and Seattle has a serious lack of D prospects in the system
Danford at 31 was not a victory Royale for the Leafs
No, no it was not.
Sharks did extremely well
The Sharks got 4 first rounders from your mock draft. Very good analysis.
Appreciate it man and the Sharks absolutely killed the draft, had the best draft in the league imo.
It's runners up
Settle down
Totally not biased, but I agree 😝😝
The thumbnail....cant stand seeing Gary Betman 🤮
They just missed the cut, but the 13 Blackhawks would have crushed any of these teams.
Relax
They barely beat the Bruins. I don't see the. Beating the 22 avalanche.
As a Tampa resident and Lightning fan. I'll start by saying two cups in a row. That alone. Amazing. I'll never be greedy. But going to that 3rd against the Avs. That team was something special. No shame in losing to them. Tampa was gassed. They played more hickey than anyone those 3 years. But, that game we lost in overtime. I think if we had won that one, momentum would have been different. Obviously, this is all "what ifs." And we'll never know. But that Tampa team had all the same pieces. Tampa was something just as special. And I do see Tampa getting that 3rd in a row if that OT game went differently.
Agreed that's why I ranked them number 1 in my Stanley Cup runner ups video. That team was so good but was so gassed from basically a full extra season of hockey in the past 3 seasons.
Pens in 16 much better than 17. 2017 team was all about the heart of a champion and grinded out wins against WSH/OTT. 2016 just skated you to death.
The 2016 team ....😢😢😢 After that series against the Rangers everyone who knew anything about hockey knew they were getting the cup that year. I'm a Bruins fan and we werent in that year so I didn't mind the 🐧 winning. At least they have real fans.
From a lightning fan that Avs team was an absolute buzz saw that SCF. I think if Point was healthy in the final we could have pushed it to 7 games. Also I think game 1 of that series was the most important, we lost in OT then got destroyed in game 2. If we won that first game and had gotten the split on the road I think again it goes 7. But that team was so impressive. Gotta give it to them.
I mean it probably also would’ve gone to seven had the refs not bullshited that too many men on the ice call, also all the weird called off goals.
Great video, I might swap the Aves with the Lightning just because of the difference in goaltending but I agree other than that
Anaheim needs defense there alo of good one in this years draft.
I think they have a solid enough D-core for the future with Mintyukov, Zellweger and Luneau. All three of those guys will be solid top 4 dmen in their career.
#45... LETS GO!!!
Brandsegg-Nygard probably won't be the only Norwegian first round pick. I hear a lot of teams love Stian Solberg.
Wouldn't be surprised if Ottawa trades their 7th pick. However, I don't want them to.
Agreed they might trade it but with this D class it would be a mistake.
@@loganglover3134 Facts. They need to draft a right handed dman, and trade chychrun for another top 6 forward
Jiricek over Sennecke at 14 with the sharks is fucking awful. You don’t pass on forward talent like that. There is zero reason to force defense when you pick again in 16 picks and in the start of a rebuild.
Hey what’s the platform you are using here?
I’m using capfriendly’s mock draft but unfortunately the site is going to shut down in a couple weeks cause they were sold to the capitals.
Ducks haven’t taken a winger in the 1st round in 19 of the past 20 drafts. The pick is either Leshnov or Lindstrom.
To me that’s more of a reason to take one now, he’s the best player available and fills a need, especially now with the new injury news surrounding lindstrom, feels like an unnecessary risk for a position they have plenty of depth in and he isn’t even bpa
Great video 😀
Cutter Gauthier - Leo Carlsson - Demidov ….. yah that’s how you win a cup 💯
Good Call On Columbus!! Thats Whi I want even though We already Have Mateychuk, Svozil and Knasko in our Prospect Pool as LD's but they're all Puck Movers!!! So No one on the Left Side Makes Sense accept Silayev and its too soon to take Parekh!! But... I think We Might Take Whoever is Left out of Demidov and Lindstrom depending on what moves we make before the Draft!! Plus Rumors are The Ducks Like Silayev!!
Yea, Columbus is really tough because they have a pretty loaded prospect pool everywhere except rd but as you said too early for Parekh but I could see Lindstrom or Demidov if he falls. But a pure big bodied shutdown guy would fit well on that dcore.
@@loganglover3134 Spot On My Guy!! I Don't think Most People on RUclips even Look at Columbus's Team Passed Laine and Johnny when they do their Mocks!! Its Horrendous out here Lol
I am very torn with who I would like to see go to Anaheim. They would probably prefer a solid RD but if Chicago does take Levshunov Verbeek has up to five legit picks I can see him making. First off Demidov is not the type of player he usually takes. He likes big, skilled effective two way players...BUT Demidov's skillset may be too much to pass up. Besides, Verbeek was an amazing player and he is a pretty small guy, so maybe he has a soft spot for a player like Demidov. That choice would certainly fill the Ducks need on the wing. Most likely I see Verbeek taking Silayev or Lindstrom with Levshunov off the table, with maybe a surprise pick of Iginla and possibly Zayne Parekh to fill that high end RD. Verbeek can be full of surprises.
Not to mention Anaheim has Leo Carlsson as their future 1C... yeeesh. Gonna be terrifying when that group matures. Great video!
Yah Anaheim has no Right Wings….. this is a good mock draft. Our GM said he wants a top 4 right wing and that’s what Demidov is
Caps haven’t drafted a Finn since 2006
Habs will pick Dickinson if hes available
I'd be satisfied with Sennecke for DET
Flyers need someone to put pucks in the net
Michkov is coming!! Soon...
For the Hbas, i would take Catton, spectacular player and no injury risks like with Lindstrom.
Catton is one of my favourite prospects in the draft but size is a big thing for nhl gms just look at how far Benson fell last year, the Habs also already have an undersized skilled forward in Caufield so a big centerman fills a hole.
Basha team mate of lindstrom makes sense but I bet they take Stiga
Wow, there is no world that the Ducks take Ivan over Lindstrom, but that was fun...
At first I am thinking the same, but if Demidov interviews well and has no issues playing in the western US (Michkov wanted nothing to do with playing on the west coast) his elite potential may be too much to pass up. He is fairly small but the Ducks have loaded up with mostly big to very big young players. IF Chicago passes on Demidov it isn't out of the realm of possibilities the Ducks take him. However, I think Verbeek goes with Silayev or Lindstrom if Levshunov is gone. Demidov would certainly make the Dcuks future top six pretty freaking scary though.
Demidov is just too talented a player for the Ducks to pass up on in their situation, Lindstrom is amazing but isn’t as a sure of a thing as Demidov due to his injury concerns. His player type is also one the Ducks already have enough of with McTavish and Gauthier.
@@loganglover3134 I agree. If Demidov is open to playing on the Ducks and they like how he interviews I can't see why they wouldn't take him. When teams meet with him in Miamai in a couple of weeks it will be very interesting what leaks out.
@@loganglover3134 you forgot Leo
and this is why Hockey and the draft is the best
I think you have senneke too low and parekh too high.
Good job with the Habs picks!
This list makes a lot of sense. I question Jiricek to SJ, he’s a bit of a gamble, but could definitely see it at 14. I kinda prefer Sennecke over him, however I think there’s a higher chance the sharks trade that pick either up or down. Would love one of those top 6 defense, or would be into Cole Hutson around the 18-25 range.
^^^. He's being way overdrafted at 14. at 33 and 42 you could get two similar prospects in Freij/Badinka/Emery/Brunicke/Smith. Can't see SJ passing up two superior F prospects in Sennecke or Bransegg-Nygard as industrious big wingers to put alongside Smith/Celebrini unless one of the top six defenseman fell.
I would also rather have Sennecke, but I trust Grier did his due diligence with Jiricek's medicals if he's the pick. Obviously the injury is a concern, but he would have likely been in conversation of a top 10 pick if had played the whole season.
I could definitely see a trade back to get more value out of the pick but firstly the Sharks I think are a lock to take a dman at 14 with only Mukhamadullin in the system as opposed to up front where they have Smith, Eklund, Celebrini, Bystedt, Guschin, Musty, Edstrom and Halttunen. So almost a bit of a log jam on forward and I think if Jiricek didn’t get hurt he would 100% be the top dman at this spot and I think he’ll bounceback fine.
@@loganglover3134 Jiricek's spot on lists was helped by injury, not hindered. He was awful to start the season and looked way out of his element. Forcing need over BPA at pick 14 is just malpractice.
I wouldn’t mind Sennecke. In my opinion we need more skill guys and he’s very silky. Obviously he’s a huge project and I compare him to Tage Thompson because of his growth spurt. Best case scenario for Sennecke is that he keeps on working on his skating and grows into his body.
