You guys have to imagine, even if has a lot of sex songs like that’s still a part of Megan. She has the most fun with her music when she gets down like that. She also added her japanese influences which I personally feel still defines her. Traumazine gave us a look into her inner world. I feel this one was just supposed to be her letting go, having fun with her music again, and yes getting a little shady. Not a perfect album but with whopping 18 songs I know ya’ll can find a few you like.

It took me a second listen and now I live for every track other than like 2 tracks

It’s a catchy hook, with the length of the beat it wouldn’t make sense to change the hook on rattle. I’d throw the song off.

I think this album needs a second listen 🖤 Megan said it herself, listen top from bottom a second time. It’s a grower, I do wish tho Megan didn’t name it her name bc I feel like that’s when an artist gives us diverse sides of themselves when putting their name and stuff, and for this album we got a little of that but not enough. But I love Meg, and hopefully this is the beginning of success and new things 🙂‍↕️

Also Don't Wanna Break Up Again remix would be perfect with FLO or Destiny's Child (but this last one is kinda impossible). This era is cementing her into a legend she hasn't milked an album like this in so long. I hope the deluxe has at least 5 new songs. It would be perfect if she included a Fantasize reworked version that would be promoted as the single of the deluxe

Upon multiple listens with the production, what’s immediately apparent is how generic, all-over-the-place and trend-chasing the album sounds, no matter how they persuade you on how it’s sonically “refreshing” online. Normani is not a strong vocalist, even if she has a unique tone, but she’s simply imitating the same tired pop-R&B tropes and styles dominating the charts from the past and present. Rather than carving out her lane, Normani seems content to blend into the crowd of indistinguishable Spotify-core R&B. Even more disappointing is how much of the album is cribbed from the late 90s-2000s R&B hits. Several tracks sound like direct imitations of songs of her influences or what’s out in the modern R&B world. Instead of paying homage while putting her spin on things, Normani comes across as merely cosplaying her influences. The album leaves you questioning what Normani’s artistic perspective and creative vision actually are. Commercially, Normani’s eagerly awaited debut will likely perform well off the strength of the long-standing hype and a few TikTok-ready singles that check all the right boxes. But artistically, it’s a shallow effort that wasn’t worth the six-year wait. Here’s hoping that in future projects, Normani will take the time to move beyond pastiche, find her own voice, and deliver the singular, definitive statement worthy of her talents that fans know she’s capable of.
