I disagree. I think the author conflated the trickster with devil. This was much more accurate for the trickster. An archetype is an expression of one of myriad of potential expressions of a human soul. We can all envision the person in higher management of a company politicking to get all their employees access to a new tools to make their work easier, at the cost of thr companies bottom line. That is a promethean. Which is a kind of trickster. And we can imagine the employee who is angry with the company and seeks to outst the organizations talented, albeit shrewd CEO, by utilizing decpetion, without care, understanding, or respect for the effect it will have on the overall success of the business and the damning effect it may have on the lives of some of the employees. That is something else, entirely. Although that person utilized trickery, they are not characterized primarily by that. You can call it what you want, however it it aligns with the character of and mythology of Lucifer, and so, I call it the Lucifer archetype -- the rebel who does not understand nor respect the value of the order that he seeks to overthrow, and is not concerned with replacing it, or of the catastrophe which may ensue.

A few notes: 1) Lucifer's sin is, he didn't understand the role of structure, norms and responsibility. The Luciferian wants too rip down, without understanding or respecting that which he seeks to destroy, nor does he give thought to what happens next. And when faced with the question and the insuing chaos, he simply shrugs and disappears. 2) The serpent is not the devil. The serpent is the capacity for seduction broadly. And the devil uses this capacity freely. 3) The most dangerous, destructive thing the devil can do -- and wants to do -- is destroy one's ability to trust -- be it others, their own mind, or their experiences. 4) In many ways, this video describes the trickster, and the trickster is not the devil. The trickster is cunning, deceptive, and not all together holy, but the trickster seeks to help others see more, and be more, not destroy one's ability to trust. 5) The devil is the shadow. The devil is the other side of the coin viewed in a wholly dualistic way. To the rebel, the suffocating overseers of the norms are the devil, and to those aligns with the norms, the rebel is the devil. Both sides commit sins against one another, and utilize dark aspects of human capability -- deception, violence, etc. However, they always see their side as just, acting wholly in light, and the other side as the devil, whose every action is dark. So in that way, what is the devil is both universal while also dynamic. 6) Satan takes his deepest roots when oneside thinks they are 100% good and the otherside 100% evil, without respect or understanding. 7) The evilest form of Satan is to seek destruction for neither side of a clash of "goods". Just to destroy so there is nothing to build from. So no form of good can stand.
