I thought this was the most romantic thing in cinematic history at the time. I've always been convinced that THAT kiss lasted a lot longer than it does. How awful that beautiful Julian Sands would disappear from our world so tragically.

@americangirl: Had u looked up Delon's Filmography, then you would have known that he made 3 films in the US, one of them with Ann-Margret with whom he had an affair. Fonda is better looking, better preserved & the exercise guru who pioneered fitness videos looks fantastic for her age. American actresses want to keep working into their retirement years, so they have to look great unlike Delon who drank, smoked & slept with everyone looking for love in all the wrong places because he never received any parental love -- only abandonment. Delon was fluent in English since he also worked in the UK.

I never tired of watching this film in the early nineties as a teenager. Helena Bonham Carter gave an incredible petformance. Then I went to univesity in London and made friends with a girl who lived next door to the house in England where this was filmed !

The film is a masterpiece and a treasure; and Lucy and George (and everyone) will live always. It all comes down to, as George would say, "Beauty!" :)
Ah yes, George. And no, George I do not have a guilty song. Everything I’ve ever done is under the blood. 😊 I love these two characters. Clueless Lucy and Idealistic George. What do you suppose would happen if we could have seen them in their 60’s? Would she have still had thoughts of her own that she wanted to share in George’s arms? Would she have regretted breaking up with Cecil in her youth and living a life of luxury? And George, would he have still been as passionately in love with her? Have to walk my dog now. Thinking about how our own righteousness is as filthy rags and how our real righteousness is found in Christ. Don’t know much about movies.
It was imagined in a later adaptation that George would have lost his life in Flanders in the Great war..... That was the period just before
