The “Ekka” is the Royal Queensland Show - an agricultural festival held each August at the Brisbane Showgrounds in Brisbane, Australia. Originally known as the Brisbane Exhibition, it was nicknamed “The Ekka” for short.
With around 400,000 visitors each year, The Ekka is Queensland’s largest annual event and includes 21,000 competition entries, 10,000 animals, free entertainment, as well as carnival rides in “Sideshow Alley” and ends each night with a fireworks display as part of the “Ekka Nites” program.
