This is a re-upload of a video by Mend It Mark of The £25,000 Pre-Amp that went Wrong Tom Evans Mastergroove SR MKIII phono pre-amplifier repair that was taken down from his channel due to a bogus copyright claim. New track on the SC126 - Z180 retro computer and MIDI sequencer playing the M5STACK MIDI synth.
Просмотров 190Месяц назад
I'm working on another track using my SC126 - Z180 based retro computer and the sequencer I wrote for this setup and the M5STACK MIDI synth is playing the data being sent to it. As you can hear this track is quite a bit more complex than my previous videos and I've still a long way to go. I'm slowly getting better at working with raw song data to create music this way. The track needs bass and ...
2 x SwinSID Nano synths + real analogue filter + Korg Electribe ER1 sequenced by my Z180 computer

A short and rough demo of two SwinSID Nano synths being played through a real voltage controlled analogue filter (VCF) using the SSI2144 filter IC. I used 2 SID channels to play the main notes plus 2 detuned SID channels to give a fatter sound. Then to demonstrate the filter I programmed data in the song to set the filter to cut off all the high frequencys at the start and then gradually open t...

Z180 based retro computer is now playing MIDI instruments

I think all the little problems are now ironed out and everything is playing decently smooth now. 🎶 🎵 🔊 The volume is a bit low as I cannot make too much noise so I cupped the headphones round my phone mics to record this short video. #midi #DigitalSynths #MIDISynths #music #electronicmusic #Z180 #SC126 #RC2014 #RetroComputing #programming #coding #ElectronicsProjects
Retro Z180 computer setup playing two SwinSID Nano's and voltage controlled filters.

Test a pair of SwinSID Nano modules with analogue voltage controlled filters connected to the outputs. The filters are controlled by a pair of DAC,s which can be automated by entering values in to the song file where needed. The music is a recognisable tune to many that I coded by hand and being played by my Z180 SC126 computer setup. The software and and song file format I wrote to make it rea...
SC126 and SwinSID Nano playing Super Mario Theme
Просмотров 14911 месяцев назад
I wrote my own version of the Super Mario theme on my SC126 Z180 retro computer and using the SwinSID Nano which is a modern SID synth replacement. I wrote my own SID music player code and SID song sequence data format that allows me to code up tunes reasonable easily. You might need to turn the volume up a bit as its a bit quiet.

250 bucks i pay for it.....
I would give this video five likes if I could.
@@rappysechs257 thanks for watching and supporting Mend It Mark 👍
The video is great, you need to keep promoting your channel. Is not hard.
Thanks for watching and supporting Mark. Its not really about my channel. I did it in support of Mend It Mark and to support all our rights to repair. Also to raise awareness of bogus snake oil sellers in the audiophile world who try to use copyright claims to cover up being exposed for their appaling products poor quality and unprofessional practices.
Build quality is a dog's dinner. That thing ain't worth 250 quid, let alone 25000. I'm barely an amateur and I admit some of my earlier perfboard builds looked as rubbish, but I'd be ashamed to ask for any money for something that was so poorly made. There are so many sins in this, but cheap, flimsy nylon standoffs in gear at this price point? Anfaddeuol!
It really does make you wonder about the sanity of the very wealthy high end audiophool community and how they manage to be make basic every day decisions in life. The sorts of people who fall in to the trap of believing and buying in to this snake oil nonsense are likely to be company CEO's and bankers, lawyers, politicions, TV and film celebritys, oil company bosses, etc... no wonder the entire world is FXXK'ed.
@@NickT6630 You just described the people who will be in charge of my country for the next four years. :'(
@@petersage5157 its same in mine too.
Just found your channel. I know nothing about electronics, but I sit transfixed watching you at work and your expertise as you bring these pieces of equipment back to life. I think £25000 for a pre amp like this is a bit of a joke. How does he sell these things? Who buys them? I believe it`s a case of the kings new coat and are sold to people with more money than sense. He tried to set you up to fail on this repair and the fact you did it must be a blow to his ego. Keep the videos coming.
This is a perfect example of a shoddily built, vastly overpriced piece of equipment.
He also does involved cosmetic stuff? Wow!
Mark really goes that extra mile in fixing stuff.
I hope this clever, patient dude makes good money
I like how the thin strips of cardboard are used as packing around the exterior frame and sides. It really adds to the premium feel of the whole thing... 😆After seeing this, I can imagine there'd be some pretty disappointed customers out there.
@@Canberra67 £25,000 for strips of cardboard from a cornflakes packet probably 😂
Thanks for reuploading - only just come across MiM and I absolutely love it, purely I think because I haven't got a clue what he's talking about but................... crucially, it is interesting and he keeps me interested. As for this Tom Evans Garbage, which make no mistake it is, £25k for this is criminal and so, is his unfounded copyright strike. .................. 'shimmed with pieces of cardboard',,,,,,,
Thank you for watching the video and supporting Mend It Mark. Ive learnt lots of things from MIM even as someone who has been in to electronics for a very long time.

@@NickT6630 sure you'll find something interesting in there pal. I try not to be too serious with it all - it is by its very nature 'serious' per se.
@HeliShed flying helictopters is rather serious but a little humour is very welcome 🙂

mend it mark, in these times of obsolescence it is incredible how you do magic with your knowledge saying there is a solution or at least let's try it and you make our day! Good luck!
02/01/2025 I will be building another circuit board this weekend to expand the system to 32 MIDI channels so that I can connect up all the other bits of synth gear I use.
As a pro sound engineer . I can honestly tell you the biggest joke in the industry are audiophiles. A fool and his money are easily parted .

Temu product 🤣🤣🤣🤣 real price $70 and I'm taking a risk🤣🤣🤣
Thats not bad value for $70 😂
Watched this before, love this guy. He is a really clever electronics person.
Hello from the USA 🙂 As a retired electronics tech/repair man, who still fixes things for myself and friends... I can say with confidence that your repair skills are top tier. Best I have seen on RUclips. Love your technique for finding the shorted cap, with a thermal camera. Brilliant! Thanks for sharing this video. Best wishes for your continued success.

But what is it?? Lego? My god the audio companies themselves should intervene!! it's an insult to the HIGH END

No wonder he wanted the video taken down when he’s charging twenty five grand for this utter shambles. What a disgrace.
Loving the final audiophile disco schmaltz test run. It really captures the quality of this monstrosity. The tech Mend it Mark is as skilled as he is humorous.
$25K for a tin of sweetcorn?

Well done Tom, we love your work 🤣
I'm a retired Electronics Engineer. Nice job on the repair. Hope it survived the trip back to the customer. International shipping can be tough on any kit. I hope it had a metal flight case. I''m not a fan of those nylon stand-offs. Nothing wrong with them in normal use but if the kit is dropped the tall stack can move like a tower block in an earthquake.
He might have been better off using a fancy Italian name like.... Amp-o-ghini to help justify the exuberant price tag. Glad it's been exposed for what it is. Mend it Mark is a top guy and that's an understatement.
And don't forget the rugby and the great singing, at least yesteryear.
Yup agree 👍 💯
As a very young child, I spent several months in Wales as an evacuee from London after surviving being buried under rubble of our house which was demolished by a V1 flying bomb in August 1944, I mention this so that I do not receive any adverse comments from Welsh readers, both my grandmother and me received help and support from the people of Cardiff for which we were both grateful.
Dont worry, nobody is knocking the Welsh they are great.
it's getting richer. There is now an article on 'Heise Online' which details everything that went on, not only that but Heise Online seems to have managed to contact Tom Evans. Evans gave a few little explanations. *Google: Streisand-Effekt: Streit über Reparaturvideo von teurem Phono-Verstärker - Heise online* there you'll see the article which I would recommend having translated by chatGPT (it's too long for regular google translate (chatGPT does an excellent job of translation, it's very accurate (sometimes tiny errors occur but they are fairly rare and trivial)). You'll see Evans remarks to his issues etc. _"Tom Evans erklärte auf Nachfrage gegenüber heise online"_ It sounds like Heise online was also in contact with Mend it Mark (Maher). See translated article.
