Aurora Borealis Knives
Добавлен 9 июн 2014
I have been a knife enthusiast for several decades now starting with my use of the good old swiss army knife as a boy scout. Since then I have always been working in the woods clearing quad trails at the family farm and cutting down trees for firewood. I have been an avid outdoorsman, interested in mountain hiking, camping, canoeing, fishing, hunting, winter camping, bushcrafting etc… Over the years, I have owned and used knives from most of the major knife companies and many from custom knife makers. Owning and using so many knives has helped me develop a good idea of what works and what doesn’t in the real world. I have been making my own hand made knives for more than 10 years using good old high carbon steels, stainless steels and the so called high alloy super steels. I hope you enjoy my knife designs and I’m always interested to hear your feedback so we can produce the best knives at an affordable price point. Don’t hesitate to contact me at auroraborealisknives@gmail.com.

They make awesome knives 🔪
Amen brother, i absolutely love mine! Makes one hell of a skinner/meat processing blade also... I hold this in similar regards as Vics design the RedWolf both equally versatile and very capable knives
Very nice. 👍 Wish I would have picked up an LT version years ago. And now, I still couldn’t snag up the WTG release through DLT. 😂 My timing is just all wrong I guess.
@@blackhawkbushcraft vic tells me he will have a few ready for bladeshow

Got 5 mins before I need to go in to work. Perfect. Very neat design.
@@joshdoddadbod it’s definitely a nice design
Tell me, brother, where can I buy it?

The Jessmuk is a very unique and versatile design. Thanks for sharing Alex

👍 great
Thanks 👍
Great item Alex! I use a similar piece of maple with a thin layer of self adhesive cork on both sides to use 2 different grits of adhesive sandpaper. A honing rod attached to the sheath would be even more convenient! Good stuff my friend!😎👍
@@WEREWOLFUSMC thanks for commenting my friend 👍

@@MarkYoungBushcraft it’s a great product to maintain those WTG knives

Would love one in k329

Busse shines in toughness and resilience.. do a year of heavy batoning through knots and accidental overstrikes into dirt and rocks.. see which one holds up
I have chipped my Busse on bone so I know which one holds up better
Such a great knife. I own the Kodiak, Grizzly, and Bear Claw. I'd take them anywhere and be confident in their executing any survival task. Well done! 👍🏾

Quite literally a perfect knife. I wouldn’t change anything about it if I could. You did such a great job.
@@peterbiltknifeguy thanks brother. I own tons of knives but I always gravitate back to the Kodiak.
Nice to meet you my friend 🙋🏻♀️🌹
@@Mountaincamping-u4v thank you 👍
Out of the axe’s that you’ve used would you recommend the most? I almost bought this one but I thought I’d ask first.
@@Splinter-nm3yg i would say that the Adler canoe axe would we my first choice. After that I would go with the crafter axe from Jxe Jxo. The DWFKHT axe is nice but you will have to work on the edge, and the sheath isn’t The best IMHO
@@auroraborealisknives4019 thank you very much for the reply. I’ll check them out
efficient interesting design all it needs is a simpler sheath with less buttons
@@raphlvlogs271 100% agree
I just ordered this practical beauty. Amazing how simple this design is similar to several others yet just seems a touch different and in it's own class. Looks perfect as a field and camp knife.
@@rnkmode1876 👍👍👍
I notice that you've made the same mistake as I did when setting the griddle on top of the stove . Tthe cross bars should be on the underside and fit into the slots cut into the top edge on both sides of the stove body. The way you have it it can fall into the fire and leave you trying to fish it out.
Thanks for the information Robbie I appreciate it
Thanks for sharing Alex
Thank you for watching Mark !
It's a great knife design Alex! Fits on the belt or backpack and don't even know it's there til you need it. Should come with an UltiClip for pocket carry! Handy blade!😎👍
@@WEREWOLFUSMC thanks. I’ll tell Vic about the Ulticlip
I believe the name of the pack is said like yaKARee. The J makes a Y sound. Any issues with rusty zippers? That is the only issue I have heard from other reviewers.
@@WhispyWoods. up to now the zippers are holding up well 👍
Great review and well explained, this is exactly what I was looking for Regards Rob UK
Thank you Rob. Decathlon makes some very useful bushcraft tools
I just got done ordering 2 of these. My best friend and I have known each other since we were 3 and now are in our mid 40’s. In march his son will be born and I wanted him to have this as his first knife. It will be a great knife while he’s young and will be a great neck knife when he’s older. I got one for myself so I can teach him how to use a knife (this knife) properly. Your forester knife is one of my favorite knives and has been on many hikes and adventures with me. When I saw this video I knew this would and should be his first knife on his first day.

Looks like an improved version of the LL bean pack. I can vouch that this design is good to go!😉
Never tried the ll bean pack. Maybe I should take a look at their website
I bought mine a few years back, it really is the last best pack most people will ever need.
@@ArcticGator I 100% agree. I bought mine a while back. Unfortunately the price has gone up since but I still think that it’s a good deal for this outstanding pack
Savotta makes great gear like everything I have received from Varusteleka. Thanks for sharing Alex
It’s the pack I should have bought from the start 👍
A smart thing to do is carrying some drop-cloth and a space-blanket, pre-assembled and hung from a ridgeline for a quick-deploy SuperShelter a la Mors Kochanski. It packs very small, is set up in 2-3 minutes and your raging fire would turn it into a sauna ! Beautiful knife and relieable kit - well done
Excellent idea. I will try to make a super compact shelter
Hey thank you for this nice video. We designed this stove to help hunters using dead wood, instead of using only a gas stove. With this Bushcraft line, we aim to give hunters more self efficiency when we hunt several days. I've been testing lots of prototypes of this stoves and believe me, I am proud of this one. All the best, Nico
@@ChartreuseNature Merci pour l’info. J’espere que decathlon / solognac va produire une scie pliante pour le bushcraft 👍
@auroraborealisknives4019 The folding saw was planned at the same time as the first Sika 150, in early 2020. I received the prototype that I still have, but it required some force to saw because of the pistol grip mechanism. It was designed with 2 mechanisms: one to store the blade and the second to pass the handle in line with the arm, in order to reduce fatigue during work. Finally, when I tested it before marketing I found that the use was not simple enough. In other words it would have been a commercial failure and my role as a consultant for Solognac was to advise them to design a complete range of tools for Bushcraft: a wood stove with a good draft, a lightweight tarp in camouflage "Furtiv", an ultralight green tarp, a camouflage "Furtiv" hammock, a camp knife and other elements. I am happy to see that you like the stove 😊 Enjoy, and take care my friend. Nico
Also a great idea to test out your kit because it's pretty normal to have an important revelation on how to change it and make it more effective. Great video!
Thanks 👍
I like how you used your hands instead of an axe and a knife. It’s often faster and more effective. It’s maybe not as cute for the video but… it’s real!
Absolutely agree. In the case of an emergency fire the best solition is to grab what you have around you
Hi from the uk. Very impressed with mine….I find this stove much easier and more relaxing to cook with without burning everything than all other stoves I have…needs regular feeding of sticks and a bit more stoking to keep lower air open but much more controlled due to the small burn area. Heavy but very well built and great value.👍
100% agreed.
Procamptek is the best tinder I have found Works every time and I carry it ALWAYS . Great video Alex Love that lynx
