I love his voice ❤
R.I.P Downtown
Love it!
Walmart on Lexington Rd and on Epps Bridge parkway killed downtown Athens
My hometown, but there's no reason to stay here
Happy I left Athens, but Zi miss it
That steel guitar...
Lived on the corner of hillside and ridge for about a year. While it was a rough time in my life, I was able to walk to 40W and see DBT play. Was the highlight of my time there.
The pedal steel, sounds like how I feel!!!!! Wow
What a song Patterson !!! Awesome,
Muy bueno!

I thought I was the only way that felt this way about Potterytown. I fell in love with it when I surveyed its houses for the Athens Rails to Trails project 8 years ago. It was my favorite part of Athens. What a terrible loss.
Bands don't control their album distribution, labels do. Patterson Hood can no more get his records pulled out of Walmart than I can.
Its all good in the hood!
I live in Athens, Ga, and I am as big of DBT fan as any one, but common, man. If you are going to take this stand, then take your albums out of Wal Mart stores. It is like if Pearl Jam still went through Ticketmaster to sell their show tics.
Congrats for all the hard work... NO WALMART IN DOWNTOWN Athens...yay !!!~
I've seen panic albums at Wal-Mart
Asheville
Save Athens..Austin..Tallahassee..Ashville..da REV Eddro
such truth in music is refreshing still ... long live the american songwriter / performer .. DBT and its members are 'bout as good as there is ....
And if they really want to put a Walmart there they will. Most of the people in this town, because you know I live in Athens, have moved on because the debate is dead. The decision is up to Walmart.
Understood, JCZ, I was originally talking about the guy singing by himself at 55 seconds to just over one minute into the video....
what you are saying is totally wrong. Poor people don't oppose anything, they are too busy trying to survive to worry about protesting their condition. For every part time minimum wage, no benefits job, walmart provides it steals away at least one or more middle class jobs. Also, for every $100,000 of revenue that the city collects 7% sales tax on ($7000 per $100,000) over $30,000 in profits are sucked out of the local economy and into the hands of the corporate profiteers.
He's in there too, look at the videos and then you'll know who your talking about and answer your own ???
How could David Barbe have ANY control over that! He played Bass for a great songwriter Bob Mould who wrote the songs and played them, just another Husker Du... If your trying to blame David, for who he produced, played for, etc. How the hell did he know his masterpieces would end up in a Wall Mart bin???
Thank you....
That "IS" Mike Mills from REM !!! He brought Uncle Tupelo from St. Louis there to record March 23rd-27th, cool dude. Watch REM on here Night Swimming He's playing piano and looks in his older age!!!
Ha. I thought it was some dude who looked like Mills. I miss Athens and UGA badly. Class of 99.
Who is that cute woman singing with Mike Mills? God, she is absolutely adorable : )
@jczother Mike Mills
Walmart doens not provide jobs. Foe every minimum wage with no benifits part time job it provides it takes away a job for someone who is actually making a living and supporting the local community. For every dollar spent in Wal mart 40 cents is siphoned away from the local community and sent off to corporate headquarters. This is why Walmart kills jobs not creates them. Saying tha it is "middle class" is a dumb statement,. Walmarts goal is to kill the middle class. Go figure.
@baddbaxx You are so right. Wake up, people.
What a Beautiful Song(^.^)b
been to thousands of shows all over the country and the drive by truckers at the 40 watt club still hands down the best shows ever
@jczother Not Mike Mills, other people told me it was John Bell from Widespread Panic. Thanks anyway.
@DrewM47 Thanks, really like his voice. Time to check my WP cds.....
I'm from Chicago and just passed the 40 Watt Club days ago ....imagine my surprise when I see the image utilized in your song ....how cool is that ? I hope your song inspires the changes or lack thereof you seek ...... REAL SONG , REAL LYRICS .... congrats on writing a REAL song .
You would probably be surprised how little they actually get. Artists are screwed out of their royalities everyday. this has nothing to do with Wallmart.
@baddbaxx So, is it or is it not a DBT album sold in a Walmart store? Are they gonna profit from the sale of said album? Are you telling me they won't collect royalties?
@Okmrmetoo the DBT album sold in Wallmart is owned by New West not the DBTs
loves negative people, apparantley Athenssucksassalready has ALOT of time on his hands...
@jczother DBT- walmart com /ip/ 1870862 and WSP- walmart com /ip/ 1234993 Would like to kiss the left cheek or the right cheek.
@Okmrmetoo If you show me a DBT or WSP album at Walmart I'll kiss your ass, you know the one your talking out of!!!
@JimAdsit That's the bassist from REM
yes, that's JB from Panic!
@JimAdsit John Bell from Widespread Panic perhaps?
What is the name of the second singer in the video with the grey beard and brown hair? I probably should know his name, but it escapes me......
this already has happened to downtown Griffin, GA. Such a shame
Great!!!! it's very beautiful song....
Speaking of which how bout all those business closing by the 2 Wal-Marts in town? Epps Bridge is always packed.
Horton's doubt it seeing how east side Wal-mart hasn't closed CVS, or the Walgreens.
