High model railroaders! I am continuing on with building the "elevated city". I am trying to finish up the Walters street system, I added some lights to the street and it really looks good!

You could park your bus closer to the intersection to hide the seam that concerns you. A tractor trailer coming the other would really cover up that filler piece.
Thanks! That is a great idea! It gives me an excuse to buy more Athern "blue box" tractor trailers at the OVAR model train flea market on Mar 29
Nice haul.
Thanks! It is always a good show, next year I will try to get some footage of it..
@@krisparker4915 Thanks very much for responding to my reply.
I wish we had flea markets like yours here in NYC, Our flea markets only sells second hand electronics, and household bric a brac only very rarely our flea markets sells model trains.
Yes, it looks like you have to venture further westward in the state to get some good shows..nysfairgrounds.ny.gov/events/the-great-new-york-state-model-train-fair I live around 2 hours north of this show www.nny360.com/kidscontent/all-aboard-clayton-hosts-annual-thousand-islands-train-fair/article_372874c4-df66-5da3-9eaf-42ccbc0bddef.html
That’s a great little pool.
Lol yes so refreshing for the citizens of Parkersburg on a hot summer day
I missed it this year. You picked up some nice things. I hope to make it next time. -Mark
Yes, got some good things this year. There are still some local shows to go to this year like the Arnprior show..Thanks again for watching! Kris
It was great seeing you again yesterday. Great haul! I like how the layout is coming along
Great seeing you too! My son really liked the water tower you gave us! Thanks!
Nice developments Kris. Glad to see that you are planning to install a runaround track for your locomotives to attack their switching chores from either end of the train. The runaround track should be longer than the longest train you choose to run. The wye serves a slightly different purpose - to turn locomotives or, if you have enough space, to turn entire trains! Thanks for sharing the video from Fred's large scale outdoor railroad. To see more of the trains running outdoors you can visit the blog I have created at gardenrailroadottawa.blogspot.com/ All the best, Mike
Happy Thanksgiving Kris! Nice layout. You’ll have to join us next year in Smith Falls for our railfanning event. I belong to HOTrak which is in cahoots with OVAR. I look forward to seeing your progress. -Mark
Hi! Thanks Mark, Yes, I went to the rail fanning event in Smith Falls last year (in May) it was really interesting. Hoping to go again this upcoming May
I use to have a 1970 Monte just out of high school and no it never sounded this good.
Thanks Michael! If you want more vids check out my other channel, for instance here is the Monte actually racing this summer ruclips.net/video/TtZeve8by9w/видео.html
@@NHRA1975 Thank you and I will do that and check it out. Biggest mistake I made was selling that car it was actually very clean bought it from an old lady on my street.
@@michaelwinkelman7165 ah shoot, the first gen Montes are still around for sale, but unsure what type of price they would command. I bought mine back in 2001
Great car first generation is the best!
Thanks! check out my other channel which has more recent vids on the Monte drag car.. ruclips.net/video/TtZeve8by9w/видео.html
Nice update. I like the idea of having things at different elevations. The GMD1 loco is cool as well. Check out Larkspur line trains in merrikville. They had a bunch of those big tanks you were talking about. Keep up the great work. -Kris
Thanks! Hoping to go to Larkspur sometime and check out the big tanks. Enjoying your channel as well and your city area, Kris
@@krisparker4915 No way, another Kris who likes model trains? Kool.
Hi
Hello! thanks for watching!
What a boat!
Chevy power, baby!
Right on, I finally got it to the drag strip a few weeks ago. This is from my other channel ruclips.net/video/TtZeve8by9w/видео.html
Hi Kris, Great viewing your personal history in the hobby! It's nice to see you re-purposing some of those older kits to go along with your vision of the layout in the future. That peninsula with the refinery on the lower level and the town up top will be eye-catching when you get all the scenery done! No worries about the pollution from the facility hindering human activity in the town as you can simply pretend that the refinery is geographically east of town with the prevailing westerly winds blowing the pollutants further away! I've noticed that in most Canadian cities, the refineries tend to be in the east end of town due to this fact. A retaining wall or a cliff side will look nice where you have your vertical walls your neighbour made for you. Just be careful when creating the wall structure (either plaster to simulate a cliffside or ready-made retaining walls) to have sufficient clearances from the track as the real railroad would do. Yes, it's a good idea to add a bit more bracing beneath the thin board which supports the town somewhere centered under the town. Looking good so far! Mike Hamer
Thanks Mike! Yes, I think that is a plausible "refinery location" story as well! working on the clearance issues, I really appreciate the feedback!
sounds pretty nasty.
Nice one I love those old Monte Carlos I always did thanks for the video.
You are welcome! I am hoping to get sone racing vids out soon
@@NHRA1975 everybody loves old cars that comes out of that time the kids today don't even want a driver's license less alone a hot rod car I don't understand it? Thanks again love the video work thank you
Sounds like it’s eating a Prius.
That's a very nice new loco you got. Sounds great. I also have an issue with 6 axle locos, they are such divas! I'll probably stick to 4 axles, they never give me any grief.
Yes the 6 axles look cool but the track work should have the proper radius etc..The 4 axles are more forgiving
The Arnprior show was awesome this year, it was nice getting to meet you at the show!
Nice meeting you as well! looking forward to future videos. You should come to a OVAR meeting sometime. Our last meeting before fall is June 13 2023
I'm looking forward to the next train show near me (Ancaster) now that I know what to look for. Nice update video.
Hey Scott, really enjoy your videos! There is a show in Arnprior Ontario this weekend, my son and are going hoping to get some good stuff! I have a car channel as well for my drag race car/truck etc ruclips.net/video/JBZZAXbFRF8/видео.html looking forward to your newest video
Hi Kris. Saw your post on Budget Model Railroading on Facebook, so I thought I'd drop by. I to am working on a budget minded HO scale layout. The following is a link to the playlist of the current build, though my channel dates back to 2014 and is all trains - ruclips.net/p/PLL9v7-5k0YbmSyW9YgmR2z331jHqTY2_w
Thanks Ray, hoping to get going on the dcc wiring soon
🙂
Lord thats a huge flat tappet
Yes, that engine failed and the cam ended up going flat anyways..this is the replacement engine as seen on my regular RUclips channel ruclips.net/video/azck_IGNLaU/видео.html
What did you shift this engine at? What was your best run?
This engine was supposed to be shifted at 6500, it ended up having a main bearing failure. Since the engine was eating itself the best run was like 7.8 in the 1/8 lol..I have since replaced the failed engine with a 482 BBC that ran a 7.198 in the 1/8 and could probably so a high six in the 1/8 eventually...This is the new engine.. ruclips.net/video/azck_IGNLaU/видео.html
@@NHRA1975 Thanks, I would have thought a 7k shift point for sure.
I have the same cam in our current build. Do you know the flow numbers in the heads? Did you get the engine dyno’d at all?
@@woggz21 hi, they were oval port 049s. They had some head porting and larger valves, we never flowed them or dyno'd the engine..the old engine unfortunately had a very short life--that is a good flat tappet- cam, I used some Isky valvesprings and a quite a few anti-flattening technologies but when it was taken apart one lobe went flat. Is yours running?
Here are some vids on my main channel that show what happened to the "old engine" I mistakenly uploaded this video to the wrong account, it was supposed to go to my NHRA1975 channel ruclips.net/video/Bn4kWAiGsx0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/hGrJZChYHLo/видео.html
Sounds beautiful❤💪👌
I’ve always had flat tappets and I got a new motor with a bigger cam and it’s got roller everything but it really seems to idle a lot smoother than a flat tappet even with a bigger cam
Hi Yamaha guy, the flat tappets can work but the piece of mind of a roller is better...I still have one more flat tappet in my truck engine build that hopefully works! I bought Lunati lifters that hopefully have good metal in them. The engine featured in this video ended up failing-- check my main channel to see it ruclips.net/video/Bn4kWAiGsx0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/hGrJZChYHLo/видео.html
NHRA1975 only thing I have against flat tappets is the break in
@@yamahaguy1732 Yes the break in is the highest chance of failure, I did just about all I could do and one lobe still went flat lol..The spring pressure was pretty high on this cam though
NHRA1975 yeah with the rollers you just start it and go after looking for leaks and all that in the manual for my engine it even said that break in oil or zinc additive wasn’t necessary for a roller cam engine but I ran it anyway to be safe
@@yamahaguy1732 Yes for sure if you can afford ir roller is the way to go
With .635 lift and that duration, how much piston to valve clearance ?
Hi Don, the distance was over .100 piston to valve clearance on that engine..The engine eventually failed due to other problems. Please check out my other channel to see what happened to it.. ruclips.net/video/Bn4kWAiGsx0/видео.html ruclips.net/video/hGrJZChYHLo/видео.html
All you need is to let the guys who make the pistons know your cam specs. That's why we have valve relief. I'm lifting .850/818, 274/282 @ 0.050 110LSA. I have 0.065" clearance hot according to CP. It's all about getting the pockets right in the dome.
How’s that cam holding up? Them edm lifters should help.
Not too well, but that engine was put together crappy by a "engine builder" as well so how knows what really happened..it appeared like one of the cam lobes wiped. I bought another BBC engine with a bigger roller cam
this is the new engine ruclips.net/video/azck_IGNLaU/видео.html this is the damage from the old engine ruclips.net/video/Bn4kWAiGsx0/видео.html
man i wish i had my uncles old monte bad it was same year sweet car and killer exhaust note jeez id like to see more of it..
Thanks Megan Tripp! Hopefully your Uncle can get the Monte going! I hurt the engine so maybe no more racing this year..
More, more, more video
Thanks! I have some more recent vids on my other You tube channel which is NHRA1975 ...I am hoping to get it to the track next weekend..
A saw a crack when you opened the door. Should get that fixed.
LOL, I was wondering if RUclips might ban me for nudity..
😂😂
Damn I wish I had went with this cam although yet I haven’t heard my lunati yet but I know it won’t hit this hard because it’s a 247/255 but maybe it will be close. Damn those solid cams sound good, I eyed this cam for a while but never found a sound clip until now.
Chad Miller hey Chad, yes that duration should give you a similar sound! With a flat tappet it takes more prep work so it does not ruin the lobes....check out my other channel at NHRA1975 for more vids!
NHRA1975 yes sir, I had the Comp 292 hydraulic in my 468 and decided to go solid after I had the motor out. I went with the lunati tl2 612/634 I have the 781 heads as well I’m hoping it does ok. I’ll check out your other vids thanks for the reply
Yes, I have the 781's as well..they are ported slightly but have the bigger valves..maybe one day I can buy a set aluminium heads but no day soon..That souds like a great Lunati cam! Solid Flat Tappet Cam. Stump puller, heavy car, tight converter, 10:1+ compression ratio, 3.50+ gears. •Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 276/284 •Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 247/255 •Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .612/.634 •LSA/ICL: 108/104 •Valve Lash (Int/Exh):.016/.018 •RPM Range: 2500-6500 •Includes: Cam & Lifters (#70992-16
NHRA1975 yeah those aluminum heads are nice man but they are expensive for those big blocks, id have to go AFR if I ever bought any but at 3grand, gonna be a while lol id definitely go with a roller if I made the head swap but I’m not racing, just a weekend warrior type thing have a little fun in
Right on man, I saw your vid featuring a mark 4 454 in a 88-98 GMT truck cool build for sure
what are the specs on the cam?
