The Boy Who Was Executed
George Stinney Jr. was a 14-year-old African American boy who became the youngest person executed in the United States in the 20th century. In 1944, he was wrongfully convicted of murdering two white girls in Alcolu, South Carolina, after a grossly unfair trial that lasted only two hours. The all-white jury deliberated for just 10 minutes before finding him guilty, and he was sentenced to execution by electric chair. The thing is black Americans can be patriotic without celebrating the 4th. They aren’t mutually exclusive. We love our home just as you do, and would die defending it just as you would. But specifically celebrating the anniversary of American freedom when it meant “Every man is free! (Except you guys, because we don’t consider you men)” is ironic and a painful reminder of what our brethren thought of us.

@@gaiusoctavius5935Your characterizing the book on its historical displacement from the cannon. What makes it gnostic is that it was removed from the cannon otherwise it would be cannon. Reading it and understanding what it means makes it clear why it was removed. The entire book are quotes of Yehoshua and he himself often taught things that empowered the individual over the self proclaimed authorities. I am surprised the lines on him overturning the tables of the money changers was permitted into the cannon because the book of Thomas was removed for exactly this type of behavior. Let me tell you a secret the church nor Caesar would ever tell you. God doesn’t need nor want your money.
