Time goes by so incredibly fast - I can't believe classes start in 3 weeks for me. Anyways, here's a pretty info-packed video on how my university (University of Minnesota) dealt with COVID back in March, how it impacted me/how I handled it emotionally, how my classes changed, and tips I have for doing well!

Hi everyone! In today's video, my mom helps dye my hair purple with Arctic Fox's Purple Rain dye. I didn't bleach and the results were great! *I just noticed my typo in the very beginning... oops. You went to the U because of cost? Are you serious? The U is the most expensive public university in Minnesota.
I still am waiting on a few more decisions to come in, but I am heavily considering UMN as an OOS student. Dogmatically, I went into the college process knowing I wanted to be closer to the Atlantic, north of the 39th parallel, and at a large institution in a large city. Going deeper into what I want out of a college, and how much it will cost, UMN seems to really align. Thanks for making this video!
Where are you now? And how much debt will you be in at the end of your degree? I am an oos student as well. However, I am nervous about the cost of attendance.

I recently got accepted into CFANS at the U and I'm kind of nervous how that is going to be like for me. Do you know anything about CFANS that I should probably take note on or be prepared for? #Classof2026 :)
Hi Hannah! I'm sorry for my late response. CFANS is fantastic. I highly recommend getting involved with the student board (I'm on it) because it's a small college with loads of opportunities. All classes are integrated with people from all the colleges - so you'll be around people from all different majors. What's your major going to be? :)

So will this wash out completely if you don’t want to keep it purple one day? I want to try this but my hair is a little lighter and I just want to find out if it will wash out completely eventually.
Eventually yes. I dyed mine Ritual at the beginning of Feb and am now almost at my natural color again. Washing it in hot water frequently will rinse it out much quicker though. I only wash my hair 1-2x a week when I use arctic fox.
My bad for seeing this comment so late! As someone responded, yes washing in hot water will make it rinse out quicker. I will advise you though, if you want to go lighter/dye your hair blonde like I have now - it's a way worse process. I had to get this dye out by a professional and it turned green, had to use rose gold toner to stop it, ect...

thanks for video! i’m thinking of going to the U in fall 2021 as a political science major as well. how is their poli sci program there? i’m having trouble comparing it to other schools so i thought i could ask for a students perspective!
Yayayy to hear you’re considering coming to the U! I love the political science courses I’ve taken so far - very essay based and typically lots of reading assigned but you don’t necessarily have to do it all. In comparison to my environmental sciences, policy and management degree I don’t find the requirements all that taxing except getting the language requirement in there. If you have any more questions I’d be happy to answer them, feel free to dm me on Instagram!
i feel like if i go to college, i'll spend the first semester getting lost around campus non stop. i have a horrible sense of direction and memory. i literally sometimes forget my way to school after staying at home for a while XD

Hi, I've applied to Carlson School of Management for undergraduate of fall 2021. I intend to major in Supply Chain and Operations Management. But the problem is I'm not good at maths like algebra, geometry, integration, differentiation etc and i have never done calculus. I dont have mathematics in A Levels. Do the faculty teach everything from the basic?? It's been years that i haven't done maths. Please advice me if i need to prepare from now. Thanks in advance 😊

Hi, great question and congratulations! I’m in the honors program too. I had friends who were in Middlebrook and I really like it! It’s a super tall building, just the only drawback is that it’s on West Bank which is a little far away. It’s definitely not that bad though - the light rail, gopher buses, and bridge to East Bank are all super close.

aw i’m sorry you had to do this during your freshman year :( I hope you enjoyed the experience in the fall at least and were able to build some good community before everything went online! i’m nervous for all online classes this fall too but i loved all the tips you gave! creating a regular schedule and keeping track of things i have to do is like the only thing that’s kept me sane at home with my family for months lol 😂 i use the app Ivy which is super useful for making daily to do lists! Loved the tips and insight and I hope you enjoy your fall semester as much as you can! 👍❤️💛

How long did the color last?
I redyed it after 5 weeks even though it was still purple just not as vibrant - I recommend taking cold showers if you want it to last longer than mine did initially :) but my hair is still purple today!
100% agree with everything you said in here except for winter being fun on campus: commuting to the St. Paul campus every single day of the week was a pain in the butt lol. Life of a CFANS student, right? :D Also insanely small world: I was 2nd floor East Comstock this past year, we probably saw each other! Stay safe! :)

@@sarawr5949 It looks way amazing if you sleep in it! Like it gives more time to settle, and because it is more like a conditioner with pigment, it makes my hair shiny and soft :) i can't recommend it enough

My daughter is starting at UMN CSE in Fall 2020. I've loved your videos because we're out of state, so I never got to visit the campus before she committed. (She did, visiting her BF in your year last October.) Would you consider doing a video on how going online changed your experience in Spring 2020? Thank you! BTW, Comstock is her first choice for housing after a couple CSE-related LLCs, in no small part because of the sinks! Fingers crossed you'll all be on campus in September.

It's a great idea and I will plan on posting that in the next few weeks! Comstock is the best, she will love it!! I really hope we are on campus in September as well. My boyfriend attends Macalester College in St. Paul and they announced a few days ago that they will be in person unless the Health Department instructs them otherwise. So, that's a good sign!
