I think it would be funny as heck, if the giant ship was the distraction, and the real weapon is the AI taking control of all enemy ships, and opening the airlocks to vent all the atmosphere. “What do you mean, our warship is too big? This here is a freighter. Doesn’t even have weapons. But, 10 pirate frigates hit it with tractor beams… it just drags them along. Doesn’t need an escort fleet or nothing.”

It’s a well-known evolutionary ‘strategy’, to be just so big, nothing can hurt you. Blue whales have no natural predators. There’s film somewhere of an entire pod of orca trying, and failing, to kill a humpback whale. The orca took turns jumping out of the water, and landing atop it. I think they were trying to prevent it from coming up for air. Didn’t work, though. I’m remembering a pride of lions trying to kill something too big. Can’t remember what it was, but there was one lioness on its back, others with teeth sunk into legs, etc. dude just keep walking along. They couldn’t pierce its skin to do actual damage, and it couldn’t reach them to make them stop.

Does the narration sound like it's done by Michael Rosenbaum ?

A cross between Star Blazers & MAYBE Starship Troopers sans bug aliens. Meh.

There is no punctuation, this leads to run on sentences. To trite. Over extolling human ingenuity. Downplaying an advanced civilizations abilities. Needs a live narrator. When a live narrator adds an extra liveness to the story. It isn't just words coldly stated.

Cliched and a retreading of many similar stories. Trite plot

If Earth had a fleet or even 1 superior ship to defeat the alien fleet, why did they wait for them to enter orbit? Any commander worth being called an officer would do whatever it takes to keep any possible enemy ship as far from orbit as possible. If you allow an enemy ship close to orbit, they could easily attack and destroy entire continents, let alone cities. This is a major threat to any world. I find it ridiculous that these stories continuously have the same storylines about things like that.

Okay this makes zero sense I was half enjoying this old story until they started in about how extraterrestrials were completely unknown then why in the hell did you need railguns that can shoot anywhere in the solar system?

I did a quick Google on neutronium. So far, we’ve only encountered it when something decays into it. Then, it’s a gas. And a few minutes later it’s decayed further into hydrogen gas. As Sci-fi authors got all hot and bothered about it, because neutron stars are made of it, so it’s supposed to be SUPER dense. But they’re getting it backwards. Neutron stars are just a c-hair shy of having the necessary mass to turn into a black hole. All that gravity compresses the actual stuff so hard it turns into neutronium. It’s not dense because it’s neutronium, it’s neutronium because it’s so dense, because of the not-quite-good-enough-to-be-a-black-hole.a tank made of neutronium would go poof almost infinitely. Or, if you took the entire earth and crushed it down to a tank, the gravity would spaghettifi (which is my current favorite word) your soldiers. And the enemy. Most of the battlefield. Basically you’d do more damage by lobbing the tank at your enemy, than by using whatever weapons it might have.

Why is the recording in Mono.? Not worth listening to like that.

It is like a theme. In order to make the humans HFY, aliens must be utterly stupid, incapable of even basic observation and study. Always rushing in blindly without knowing anything. A little tired of this trope.

I like the story heard a lot like it . AI are tools of human and human make mistakes. But for some reason the human strategy was still interesting.

You think a race that can travel through space can not sit up there and pick us off and probably use lasers to take us out. Go watch Independence day and starship troopers to keep your hopes up.

Nice glimpse, but of course the question left is, why? Why were Terrans so angry at this people that they'd act like this? What happened to cause this war?
