here in florida its just at the pump as an option in many places. Ethanol gas destroys carbureted engines that are not constantly used.It sucks moisture through the main jet down to the bottom of the carburetors bowl where it falls to the bottom of the water gas mix and rusts out the bowl. Then when you start it the trash gets sucked into the main jet and it will not run . It costs 75 cents to a dollar more per gallon for ethanol free. I keep my backup generator filled with ethanol free gas. During hurricane season i replace whats used with regular ethanol gas . We lose power for a few hours a few times a year every year in summer . in years like this one with the hurricanes ive used 60 gallons so far. Once hurricane season ends i drain the gas and refill it with ethanol free gas. I have had a tiller with ethanol free gas in my shed for 5 years and when i pulled it out it started right up. For comparison I've had mowers fail after ethanol gas sat in them for less than 5 months. As far as mileage you will get 3% more via energy density . I used to drive a long way to alabama on a regular route . I did the test non ethanol vs ethanol . The difference in miles per tank is barely noticeable even in my older 1998 buick. It is absolutely not worth it for mileage in any fuel injected car made in the last 30 years.
