10,000 people live above a hydroelectric dam in Borneo. These are their stories, their history, their struggles, their folklore, told in their words for the rest of the world to hear.

In 2016 I moved from Canada to South Borneo. My focus was the 12 villages above the Riam Kanan hydroelectric dam. How did being harnessed for electricity affect these people? How did it change their religion? How has it shaped their present, syncretic cosmogony? This is an ethnographic exploration of one peoples: The Dayak-Ma'anyan-cum-Banjarese of Riam Kanan. These stories, these people, this land, and these conflicts - you will hear about nowhere else, and likely never again.
