New Zealand cops have an unenviable record of wrongful convictions. They can be as corrupt as the crims they are chasing. To admit a wrongful conviction in this case would cause a monumental loss of face for the legal system.

Great job! I live on Long Island and have followed this case since Shannon Gilbert disappeared. The bodies being found while searching for her seems unreal, like something out of a horror movie. My own theory is that Burke didnt want the FBI involved because he was afraid they'd find out about his own involvement with sex workers. But the truth eventually came out, not that people didnt know about the corruption on LI before it came out. Never expected anyone would be charged as the killer. All it took was a change of administration. I just now subscribed and am looking forward to seeing more of your work.
