I agree with you all I am suggesting is that the career for premium R and D should be made at least comparable with other options. Unfortunately we carry a mindset that certain class of sincere and commited people should make all sacrifices while for others it is normal to chase money and power

Sir, the entire ecosystem for technocrats is missing in the country from independence. Lisence Raj, poor profits for industrialists, low spending on R and D etc. Still, Rahul Bajaj spent on R and D and made Bajaj, the leader in motorcycles in the world. Universities are also not research oriented and are just churning out huge numbers of doctorates with no quality in research. So, reforms are needed in multiple levels before a research ecosystem is built and technocrats are produced. Meanwhile, it's human nature to look for greener pastures and IITs going for UPSC, management, software etc should not be condemned. They are but 0.01 percent of all engineers produced in the country and a doctorate in engineering is produced from heart with passion for research and not by economic wealth for researchers.
