Small Drum Revolution

What if musical instruments were all being invented today with the options of stable and strong materials available now. My guess is they would not necessarily mimic the designs we all recognise and they may have extended playing options too.
Try as I might I couldn't find my way into traditional making. I started instrument making with the view to pursue the strongest ideas.
I have reconsidered the designed of the humble Cajon which can now be optioned with up to 9 playing faces. I am working up a super lightweight and ergonomic Bongo with a variable tone top. My hardest won prize is the development of a unique, all ply acoustic lap steel guitar.
I have no official training aside from photography so this is a journey of intuition.
Through this channel, I'll share some of the journey and explain the rationale that drives me to invest a crazy number of hours in the possibility that I can make something work.

The Jumbo and The Horn Dobro Prototypes
Here is an overview and demo of two of my Dobro prototypes. The Jumbo body and Horn Dobros are quite different from each other and are a tonal departure from traditional Dobro designs. I have been down the rabbit hole and come up with these.
