Common Ground Ecovillage - North Carolina
США
Добавлен 15 фев 2021
Common Ground Ecovillage is the dream of a visionary community of people to create a regenerative agrarian village cooperative located on 113 acres in the Piedmont area of North Carolina, USA, dedicated to racial justice, simpler Earth-sustainable living, and growing our own organic food. The village is yet to be built but we are actively farming the land and growing, educating, and strengthening our community in preparation to build our homes and move in. This is a great time to explore our community and get involved! Subscribe and tune in often as we add more videos to share what we're about and introduce you to our various initiatives.
Prescribed Burn Preparation
At Common Ground we're preparing to burn 6 acres of an old field to aid the restoration of this landscape. Follow along as we bring fire back to a landscape that co-evolved with the practice.

Cold Winter Update - January 2025
Просмотров 23214 дней назад
Temperatures stayed below freezing for 3 straight days earlier this week! While most regular garden work stopped and we couldn't send out veggies this week like normal, other activities continued. Our trusty caterpillar tunnels became a balmy paradise on sunny Wednesday, January 22nd. Venture inside during this vlog update and see what rumblings of spring await!

I'm glad to find you this morning. I hope you make lots of videos❤😊
Thanks! More on the way :)
Simply Amazing 🤩 😮❤ The dedication and joy with which this work is done is inspiring. Thank you for using everything at your disposal: mitochondrial movements, experimentation, persistence, and lots of partnering with the mind-boggling invisible life forces!!
Yes! 😊 We bring full hearts to it <3
Way to go!
Golly, I love you guys! Thanks for this giggle and flood of gratitude. Best carrots, chard, spinach sunchokes, and salad ever!

Can I start this I have some land I would like to start a Christian Echo Village I don't know how to go about it is there any information on it but people everybody wants something for free
There are books on the subject. Diana Leafe Christian has written a few. She just happens to be my sister, but look her up online. Good luck in your endeavors.
Just came across your channel... would love an update on how your community is doing after helene and if you have everything you need..VERY interested in this way of living :)
Is this a vegan community
I should have added, in Australia we can grow different vegetables year round. The downside is you don't really get a break , always rewarding though.
It's great to see young and not so young people finding common ground together. I'll be watching as you grow in more ways than one 😊
Love hearing about the farm activities! So appreciate all the hard work that goes into growing our food!
Good to see you folks are doing well! How about a “catch and cook” video with some of your produce?
Thank you for sharing I love that you show the rose and thorns it is relatable. Thank you for all your hard work and contribution to steward the land. You’re inspiring!!
Beneficial nematodes can help with the cucumber beetles.
Isn’t that amazing the people of the planet want to try to protect him and preserve it and work with it and the corporations, pharmaceuticals big agriculture want nothing more than to control it destroy it and profit from it. Revelation 11:17….
Hello, I am 25 years old and I am from the Outer Banks. I cut grass by myself for a living but I cant seem to get settled anywhere. All of the housing is turning into airbnbs in the summer and I now have to live / work out of my truck. Its very hard. Food is way too expensive and even if i find a place to live its like 1000$ a month in rent. I have lawncare and construction tools (lawnmower, weedwacker, backpack blower, boxes of power tools (drills and saws)) and I think I could be very good help for you guys. I am tired of living like this. I am broke but I will work to live with you guys. I have no family to help me, no friends, nothing. My dream for years has been to move into the woods away from so many people and I would very very much appreciate an opportunity with you guys. I can talk over the phone with you if you want. My number is 252-401-3437 Looking forward to a reply Thanks -Brian

🤫 I’m coming for the strawberries too
Come on out! There’s probably 1 or 2 pints ripening each day now :)
It’s so beautiful out there I can’t wait to shop with you all. I love Kale and that’s what I’m looking forward to seeing you again Lucas 😊
Greetings from Pennsylvania. This looks amazing. I'm looking forward to laboring with you if all goes well
Looking good!
it's cool to see what happens during the winter! I'm a total noob to knowing what is harvested then and actually seeing the "beige" and what's going on is helpful, as we don't normally visit the farms til it warms up! blessings
Yes, farming in the winter is a whole different ball game :)
Looking good!
Love the hammer ‘pointer’😂
Just don’t drink the communal koolaid, I think you’ll be ok otherwise
Hmm...think the ginger tea is safe? ;)
Potatoes, pumpkins, and kale have all been good staple crops for us over the years. Daikon radishes are also a nice late crop. Do you have any animals?
No animals yet, well unless you count bees. 3 hives coming up on a year old!
I'm interested in starting a Housing Co-op in Charlotte, is there anyone that can offer any advice? Particularily needing help finding a real estate attorney that knows about co-ops Edit: I found one thru the Cooperative Council of NC..one step closer 😁
Great! Glad you found one! Sending good vibes that your project flourishes!
Any consideration for quadplexes to reduce heating/cooling demands?
Many ideas are being considered currently. Thanks for the suggestion.
Are you raising livestock?
Not currently. The ecovillage itself may at some point.
I work hard, have a good attitude, have good social discretion, believe in y'all's cause, and would be ecstatic if I could be involved in something like this. How do I get reviewed for an opportunity?
Thanks for asking! There's all kinds of opportunities to get involved, both on the farm and in the building of the community and village. I recommend becoming a member by completing a JOIN form at www.commonground.eco/become-a-member/
Sounds Great. - T
Thanks!
Naw, look at the little baby grasses, all grown up ❤
visitors welcome?
Yes! As are volunteers! Reach out at welcome@commonground.eco to request a tour to visit the farming operation, or complete a JOIN form to become a member of our ecovillage community. :) www.commonground.eco/become-a-member/
Naw. I wish you guys were in Australia. The earnestness and love bought me to tears.
Aww thanks,. Love that you can feel all the heart that goes into the farm all the way over there!
I believe there are ecovillages in AU.
We do have eco villages in Australia, the one I know of costs around $1000000 per share. About 900000 out of reach for us😢
Diversity in the face of change is hopeful.
Well said. Thanks for watching!
Its pretty obvious the current model will not work indefinitely. I really admire those willing o step out and try something different. Hard road ahead. I wish you the best.
Thanks for the support! We need all the good vibes.
hi mark vey good
You guys and Natalie are amazing. Thanks for loving our temperamental Pachamama. Knowing how much you care about the crops and the outcome adds sweetness to the spinach and rutabagas!
Thank you so much for your beautiful vegetables ❤ you guys are amazing!
Welcome neighbors! I love your vision for the land and the community.
Thanks, neighbor!
This is a very interesting video I wish you guys the best of luck in selling your peppers and the rest of your produce
Excellent video! Great work !
