Compared to digital, vinyl sounds awful. I have never been a fan of vinyl. Crakly, hissy, poppy. As a kid of the 70's, cassette and vinyl were really the only way to listen to music apart from the radio and tape won out for me every time. I really did not like the sound of vinyl at all. So, as soon as CD came out, i gave all my vinyl and my record player to a charity shop and got a CD player. The sound was amazing! Man, what a difference over the horrible sound of vinyl. And more portable too. After going over to digital, you couldn't pay me enough to go babk to alanlogue again. MP3/WAV/FLAC etc. are the only way now to listen to music for me anyway. The best turntable is a cd player.

Well there's a vintage Gremlin that I wouldn't use those oil's in without checking the Zinc content first. There are special formulations of synthetic with extra zinc for vintage engines with lifters and pushrods. The Zinc gives extra protection for the cam.

I would suggest checking sustainability on any turntable purchase. include long term service and parts support among your buying triggers, to avoid a disposable item. The simplicity of turntables often makes buying a higher quality used table, in good condition, condition is everything with used machines, a smart move.
