Fly fishing on Lough Erne - The Erne Mayfly
I have a small amount of hope now, I'd lost it all, but I'm hoping now we've caught ourselves on and learnt to stop our interference of nature and / or repair damage done.
Very good and informative the river looks an amazing river and well looked after/ belfast
just so you know (and avoid the fine) its single/double barbless hooks on ALL areas where youve to hold a daera licence , worm fishing is illegal after mid june, ALL STATED ON 2014 UPDATED FISHERIES ACT NI
good work but a lot more needed, 40,000 fish have been killed in 5 years across the province due to NI WATER, AGRICULTURE RUN OFF AND INDUSTRIAL RUN OFF, that doesnt include the millions of fry and invertabrates killed
All that time, effort, and resources were invested only for the stocks to be decimated by predators before they reached the sea. On the Bush, like many other rivers in Northern Ireland, the unwillingness to manage cormorant stocks is exacerbating the decline of salmon populations. Despite the clear evidence of significant predation on young salmon, regulatory and conservation agencies often hesitate to implement control measures due to concerns about the ecological impact on cormorant populations, legal protections, and public opposition. This reluctance to address the issue head-on allows cormorant numbers to remain unchecked, further endangering the already vulnerable salmon stocks and complicating efforts to restore and maintain healthy aquatic ecosystems.
How does the green algae in lough neagh affect returning fish numbers?
There should be no schrimp or worm fishing allowed in a river 😊fly only
worm fishing is illegal after june under the 2014 updated fisheries act regulations
Worm fishing should be banned for all c&r waters, its crazy and stupid to allow it!!!
What a beautiful little river
This is lovely to see. Well done 🤝
Fascinating--even to this Massachusett's native--we are struggling with the collapse of Cod stocks--I can see from your videos that we've a ways to go! It's helpful (and hopeful) to see what can result from cooperative science based efforts.
This is fantastic, gives me hope👍
Great work. Thanks for sharing.
❤❤❤❤❤🎉

Thanks for publishing this! It's very useful. It would be great to get a version with a voiceover at some point if resources allow.
Beautiful little video with nice pleasant music to suit the occasion.🎣🎣😊
Are both Moor Lough and Binevenagh lake well stocked? Would love to fish there they both look beautiful
Binevenagh is class for stocked rainbows most you catch there are over a pound. But because of the zebra mussels I’m not sure what is happening with stocking at the moment. Hope this helped
Fly fishing only is it?
How much does it cost for a certificate to be issued in relation to a small pot plant being exported to Malaysia?
I enjoyed it very much. Keep it up. Grow your online following > Promo'SM .
Most households dont recycle they get rid of it through the litter bins on the streets the opening on the street litter bins our to big i know because i empty them they our usual full household waste the opening on the bins need to be smaller to stop the bins being full with black bags thankyou
Can I ask why anglers cannot partake in lure angling/worming from the boat?
This brings back happy memories. My good friend Niall and I camped up there for three nights and fished those laughs. What tranquility and spectacular views from the top of Loughnavar. Meenameen was the most productive for me. We didn't see a soul the whole time. Thank you for making an old man's day.
Gods country
Excellent video, going there, May 2022
Nice video, the best month of the year😁. Do both Upper and Lower Erne fish well all season round for wet and dry fishing?
heres a plan invest in the wild fishery in strangford lough, or at least promote it as a fishery, since farmers will be struggling id imagine all that spare land they could and build b&b for international anglers that would flood to the area and need accomadation, why is deara intent on missing out on hundreds and thousands of pounds tourism revenue?
Beautiful video - here's to May 2022
What fly’s are being used
invest in the wild fishery in strangford lough like west minster told you to do and bring in more anglers from international countries since the whole goverments plan is based on tourism
Invest in all wild fisheries not just one or two and stop commercial fishing on erne for pike
Great stuff, brings back the excitement of this season's spent fishing.
ALL ANGLERS PLEASE CONTACT EDWIN POOTS AND ASK DEARA POLICY ON SEA-TROUT IN STRANGFORD LOUGH, ASK WHY CATCH AND RELEASE POLICY WAS INTRODUCED 7 YEARS AGO AND BARELY A SINGLE OVA HAS BEEN PLANTED IN ANY FEEDER STREAM, THE POPULATION IS CLOSE TO COLLAPSE AND OUR ROD LICENCE MONEY GOES TO THE SEAL SANCTURARY NOT THE FISH, PLEASE CONTACT THE MINISTER THE MORE EMAILS THE MORE CHANCE OF ACTION
never mind rural needs save the sea-trout in strangford lough before the population collapses, 7 years of catch and release in the area and not one ova planted in any single feeder stream into the lough! whats the plan deara i really need to know
Never knew Meenameen & Glencreawan were there at all - they can only be seen on Google maps under terrrain view. The general map view that most people use, doesnt show them or the surrounding smaller lakes at all!
Lovely.
any pike in these 2 ?
nope just stew pond trout
Spelga damn has pike now. I guess some idiot released them there. More pike than trout in last few trips there.
@@bastar what are you using to catch the pike,, pike is in every bit of water in N.l/ Ireland
@@BreakerBreakerYeo they were but our eastern european friends have netted most of county down and deara does nothing to stop it, more concerned with stocking non native fish species than protecting the wild ones we already have un our waters
@@bastar count yourself lucky theres not a pike left in the quoile basin and deara wont re-stock them in a letter to the quoile angling ass. they quoted "deara does not partake in the stocking of non-native fish"
Lovely video, some nice brownies, well done
A fantastic recap on how the Mayfly fishing should be approached, and where memories are made for a lifetime.

Great video, makes you want to be there. Very good photography and editing as well.👍
Thank you for this. Looking forward to my own mayfly season, covid restrictions permitting...

Absolutely fantastic video lads well done 👏🏼
I counted 14 cormorants in moor lough yesterday and the fishing was awful.i hope something can be done about them as they are greedy and will clean the place out
strangford lough has been destroyed by them theyve ate most of the sea-trout smolt and the seals are finishing the adults but my licence money goes to rehabilitate sick seals and counts for scart nests, deara are a disgrace
Bang bang 🤫
@@killirl32 most of the wildfowlers have died and no-one carried it on, a lump of lead is the ideal solution
It's been known to happen down these parts. 😉. Left unchecked they will decimate fish stocks.
@@killirl32 i remember a time not so long ago when they both got the treatment they deserve in my parts too
Poots you’re a star plonker hahah
🎸
Great video! Looking forward to the survey :)
