So orchestrated
Is this the world flash mob routine or just a team routine?
This was choreography that I created specifically for our West Coast Swing classes in Norwalk, CT. As an instructor, I find that teaching choreography helps students learn moves and musicality.
This looks like so much fun. Thank you for the great post.
❤❤❤
Great, top dancer
Looks like fun =)) Speakers are kinda blown sounding though,
The speakers are really great. It's more possible that the GoPro doesn't capture high fidelity audio
Love watching this. I love dancing too
Thank you 🙏
This was so much fun! Turned out great!
That was really good!!
Great dancing but would love to see it faster. Swing reminds me of the Jitterbug!
Hi Karol. The song was tempo'd down about 10%. However, West Coast Swing is frequently done to R&B, Blues, and contemporary music-so, it is different from your 1930-40s idea of Lindy Hop and Jitterbug. In fact, there are many different versions of swing dancing representing different regional influences.
Cool! :-) Thanks for sharing!
Fun! Nice job everyone!
Wow hustle music not
For competitions, artists sometimes use a variety of music to push the envelope. In this case, Tami and I used two different versions of "Oops, I did it again" by Britney Spears. One was a ballad which transitioned into a "disco" remix. The routine was choreographed by Hustle legend, Arte Philips. We all agreed that Hustle dancing should not be limited to music from the 1970s (which we also love).
@@nickmarino2033 Thanks for complement on the dancing. I love Hustle/Disco music from the 1970s. Tami and I made a choice to use contemporary music. Our goal in creating this routine was not to live in the past, but to bring Hustle into the present day. That doesn't mean that we don't love classic Hustle music; we just chose to use contemporary music. Based on my personal discussions with Arte Philips and Billy Fajardo, Hustle is an ever-evolving music and dance. They both felt that Hustle benefitted by appealing to youth culture of the present day through contemporary dance music, instead of forcing new dancers to have to like the music of a different generation. That being said, I have over 200 songs of the top Hustle music from the 1970s. If you feel you have a top 10 list, feel free to post it, but I'm pretty sure it's the same hits that every other nostalgic Hustle dancer loves (including me). However, if you want Hustle dancing to live on into the next generation, it really can't just be fueled with songs from 50 years ago. Just like West Coast Swing, Hustle is an evolutionary dance-it changes frequently. The Hustle that was born in 1973 was not the same as the dozen of variations that existed by 1979; and today's competitive Hustle today is by far more technical and refined than it ever was in the 1970s based on both Arte and Billy's opinions.
@@SwingShoes I understand what your saying totally. It's a business and inorder to continue it you have to incorporate the youth. Unfortunately most so called DJs do not know how to incorporate the music of the past with the music of today. And with your theory you will alienate a large segment of your base. I'm curious what your top song from the past is Respectfully . We're talking music now not business. Because I promise you my songs you never heard and are far more beautiful than let's say I will survive, I love the nightlife both great records but not what I use to dance to in the seventies when that dance was born.
@@nickmarino2033 The "base" of the Hustle era is dying off. A good DJ can mix the classics with the contemporary dance hits of the last 50 years. The music of Hustle of the 1970s was music of the 1970s - the music of Hustle of the 2000s is the music of the 2000s. If you put it in a time capsule, then you'll also have to put it in a coffin-so just stop with that myopic viewpoint. However, from the 1970s, I love: Romeo and Juliet, Risky Changes, Date With The Rain, Native New Yorker, Found A Cure, Young Hearts Run Free, Smarty Pants, The Boss, Dr. Love, I Don't Love you Anymore, 10%, Run Away Love, Relight My Fire
Robert upchurch the devil made me do it tom Moulton remix check that out my friend.
nice :-)
Excellent Hustle basic video
Mod. Love it. Bravo.
Nice job with your group Erik!
This doesn't look fun
H Ljmmh That is a strange comment. The class was having fun and the teachers who were demonstrating were having fun. However, it seems like you didn’t like something about it.
@@SwingShoes I guess I'm just used to other dance styles, it seems stiff to me and the kissing was kind of off.
very clearly explained
Thanks for this . No kissing on this one ?
The kissing is a high risk strategy . Could get you a slap or a knee in the bollards !!
Lady Gaga and not Benny Goodman.....unbelievable this is swing dancing WTF?
richard alvarado West Coast Swing, in its contemporary form, is also done to pop music, blues, and R&B. However, Benny Goodman music was performed during the era of Lindy Hop/jitterbug-before West Coast Swing.
I'm sorry to say this, but I feel most people surfing RUclips are in my camp. What if you want a WWll 1940's theme dance party especially around Memorial Day weekend ( I went to one in the late 80's...a lot of fun too BTW. ) If you do you should play the theme music from that era, not Lady Gaga or 1970's soft rock which I stumbled upon in other videos like this. This was the music of my deceased father.
richard alvarado I started dancing with Lindy Hop and I adore big band music. But contemporary West Coast Swing is done to many genres of music. Because of this, the dance is currently very popular and is internationally recognized. Feel free to search RUclips for excellent contemporary Lindy Hop. I think you’ll find what you’re looking for.
This is well done! They almost look real!
great , toching , natural
This couple looked great on the dance floor together complimenting each other.
Erik Novoa & Anna Brady, very very good!!!! Grandissimi.
That was awesome and very clearly explained! Thanks, Erik and Anna!
No comments yet? In six years!? It's trippy (yet inevitable, I guess) to see folks swing dancing to Lady Gaga. Cool and very sweet.
So glad I got to see this....even if not in person....Way to work it you guys!!! xoxo
I really like the way you guys were groovin Westie style during the music demo. Cool.
sorry that you tube used my name al so, . so eric brack and exilover is both of me. I like to use your choreography that's why I was asking the counts for the west coast swing dance :-) I hope you don't mind ? I gonna need it in 2 weeks , so very short time to practice.
Unfortunately, this choreography is meant for our student review. This choreography is not for outside professional use. Please do not use this choreography for your own purposes without contacting me directly first.
ha ok, i was looking where is the 8 count - or 6 count- triple steps and things .because its a nice choreography . But thanks for your respond.
I can not always follow you counting your footwork, what are you counting every figure?
I have no idea what you mean. We did not count the footwork or patterns of this choreography.
I like the 'Ok I will give you 3 taps'-- Anna is like 'what?'
WOW! This is wonderful!
Sorry for four posts of my response. I kept getting an error message, so I kept rewriting.
Nice work by you guys, though. Maybe you could find another music bed to lay down, something by someone who understands copyright law.
Yes, I saw the note above. This seems greedy, petty, and short-sighted of "Brother Yusef," given that you provide three (3!) links for buying his music. I'm a country blues/blues/slide guitar fan, but I'll pass over work by people like Yusef and his 5 self-produced, self-indulgent, derivative CDs. Yusef lacks real soul, or he wouldn't pull this kind of crap. And "Brother"? Oh puleeze! Nice work by you guys, though.

I'm a country blues/blues/slide guitar fan, but there's lots of good music done by people who have a larger understanding of what making good music MEANS. This video originally had sound but there seems to be a copyright issue with the music even though this is an educational video.
Please redo this with sound.
I really looking forward to the "advanced basics" LOL
Wow, your head is quite big!
I just learned this in class but couldn't remember what came after step 4, thanks for breaking down the footwork and showing it to me from different angles. This was very helpful. Thank you!
Great routine! I was NOT expecting the zombies in the background. Hilarious!
Your videos are really great and I love how clear they are. I just got into WCS and love it so far. I subbed to your channel. I would love some tips on movement and how to add more hips into the dance. Anna has a cute swagger and I would love some tips on how to add my own moves in :) Great job!
"I Still Believe" by Larry Carlton the version they are playing is from the album "Deep Into It".
