I Ride motorcycles for a living.
No, not really, but at least I get paid whilst doing so, and that’s close enough.
Based in Flanders Belgium, and very much in love with anything on two wheels.
Been riding motorcycles since 1997 and had my share of different bikes since then.
Not particularly talented, nor do I have anything interesting to say, thus by no means a moto vlogger.
My videos will mostly be a dull POV experience of daily commutes to various locations on different motorcycles. Nothing to prove, no one to impress, just trying not to kill myself or other road users.

How to use a tubeless repair kit on a motorcycle (the nasty sticky type)
Clumsy old me attempting to fix a punctured motorcycle tyre.
Don't really know what I'm doing, but figured it would be fun to make something easy seem hard.
As always, feel free to leave a (funny) comment complimenting my craftsmanship .
For those who are worried, this particular tyre hasn't got much life left anyway, and will soon be replaced.

Bad start of the 2025 riding season R1200RT

First day riding after Christmas holiday. Was looking forward on starting the new season, but the fun soon ended. Rear tire run flat with only 0,5 bar left apparently. It does prove the importance of a proper pre ride check though. Tpms did the job for me today.

Small part of a 3 days trip crossing Belgium, France and Luxembourg. Together with 2 fine Moto Guzzi's, a lovely Ducati and a BMW R1150 as the leader. Late september, with fallen leaves on wet roads kept the speed below average and turned it into a mostly relaxed ride. Great fun nonetheless. If you have any questions, or would like to comment, please feel free to do so.

BMW R1200RT 2010 model. Been experimenting with the audio recording this time. Just another days work, leaving the office in Ghent to visit a building site in Zelzate. Other than a small part of Ghent there is no scenery nor are there winding roads. The sound of the twin boxer engine plays the main role in this one.

What do you think of it compared to the R1200RT
@@harrykramer7479 The VFR is a great sporty tourer. I have owned both the RC36/1 RC46/1 and this one. In my opinion this latest iteration lost its premium feel compared to the earlier models in their days. Basically the same motorcycle as it has always been, but it became less competitive with modern bikes than it once used to be. The R1200RT is on another level. More enjoyable for everyday use. Easier to live with, practical, more comfortable, both with and without pillion, easier and cheaper to maintain. The most versatile motorcycle I have ever owned and it keeps me interested and happy every single day with no need for anything else. And that is a first for me. I do miss my first RC36 though. I still think it is a killer bike.
@ Yes I agree. I owned the VFR750 RC36-2. Riding on that bike is giving a special feeling. Like you can feel the engineers from the 80’s, 90’s. The bike is feeling top heavy but the handling is not bad. Technic from the 80’s. The R1200RT is riding much easier. It is more heavy but the weight is more on the bottom of the bike. It is going through corners so easy. It is giving me a smile from ear to ear from the moment I start the bike till the end of the ride. This is just me. I can daily ride to work, I can take corners in the neighbourhood like I am riding a sportbike (thanks to telelever!) and I can make long rides of 7 hours a day of riding. Me and the RT are just one. I like to maintain it myself. Maybe the bike is not so sexy as a cbr or R1, but even for a touring bike it looks great in my opinion. I wished I bought it 10 motorcycles back.
Too much electronic is in these motorcycles! :)

Is that bike a K26 model? Very interesting, didn't know that low tire pressure could trigger a general fault code on the dash. Hope it was a simple fix :)
@@suzyamerica4679 it is, it does and it was. 😄 Back on the road again.

@@iiturregui no it is not possible to integrate the Garmin. In my case I’m not missing out, since my bike isn’t equipped with the wonderwheel.
The RT is certainly the correct vehicle to use for that kind of riding. Such precise steering. But the authority model would be better for lane splitting. Its side luggage is more low profile.
Indeed, the authority model would be more convenient through tight spaces, but it manages nonetheless. Thank you for watching.

For me 1200km day trip is too long and too tiring😅
I can imagine. It is a bit of a challenge indeed. It is definitely tiring and probably not wise. It usually takes me 3 days of relaxed touring to get there. I just didn’t have the time to do so this year.
So what are the rules of filtering? Also I see you filter at low speed in heavy traffic but not above a certain speed, while i saw another motorcycle pass you and the traffic at higher speed. Is that for your own safety becuase I have seen motorcycle pass me in traffic at around 80-100km/u near Brussels. I too am looking at an RT (I am a beginner biker) also at 20.40 you ride between 1st and 2nd lane, i thought it was only between 2nd and 3rd lane. Am I missing something? Thanks
@@benjaminlibotte8471 Hi. In short, you are not allowed to exceed 50km/h when filtering and you can not filter with a speed difference higher than 20km/h. It is both for safety, as it is simply the law, when you see me merging back into the lane, once the cars picked up speed. You can filter between the most left lanes, if other lanes merge from the left (they mostly merge from the right) you may end up in between first and second like I did for a short distance.

Those are the waxed tan bobber gloves.
@@smirnaft Thanks for the information and the response! I have ordered and received a pair; they are very comfortable.
What riding gear do you use for typical Belgian weather?
My typical gear on the RT would consist of my Stadler pants which are GoreTex and a D-Dry Dainese touring jacket, both do a good job of keeping me dry and comfortably warm. My favorite boots are Daytona Road Star GTX. Very durable and water resistant Mid season Richa gloves and an extra Hevik glove that go over them when it is really raining hard. My favorite helmet would be my Shoei Neotec II closely followed by the SHoei GT Air. The RT itself does a pretty good job of protecting you against the elements. So you can get away with more comfortable riding gear than you typically would on other motorcycles. The Heated seat and grips also help when it gets really cold in winter.
Hello ! Thanks for the video, i had a Triump Bonneville and a GS750, and I just bought that same model 1200RT last week. Still quiet heavy and difficult for my body (1m70) to move it in parking or out of the garage, but indeed i dont feel the weight as soon as i ride.. For roads and highways its great, super stable, very comfortable etc. and this is why i bought it, so happy about it. However, I wanted to know how do feel with more speed on turns.. i have mountains or many curvy roads around and i took it last weekend, it was difficult for me to "embark" it and engage it well enough on turns, maybe a matter of practice & habits ?
Hi, and congrats on your purchase. And to answer your question, I don’t usually race trough the corners, but when I do, the RT seems to be very compliant. I have been riding more sportier motorcycles for years, and the RT does need a little more input on the handlebars than a sports bike typically does, but when you do you’ll notice it keeps its lean angle and can really corner well . I’m sure you will get the hang of it really soon, once you’ve put some miles on it. Basically it’s all about being smooth on the brakes and the throttle without upsetting the suspension. As for the manhandling, I don’t really notice much of a difference with other motorcycles. In fact BMW did a great job of keeping the weight relatively low for this type of motorcycle. These Twin cams RT’s weigh less than 260kg, for comparison, a stock naked T120 Bonneville for example weighs only 23kg less, that is without all the comfort of the extra 10l of fuel the RT takes, a luggage rack, (electric) windscreen and two hard side cases. I do make sure I don’t need to push it backwards up a hill or on gravel when I park, but other than that I don’t mind pulling it out of the garage. Anyway, thank you for watching, and safe travels.
Awesome thanks for your insightful feedback !!
Very nice video and good audio with no wind noise at all! what windscreen is this? it looks like Isotta!
I’m glad you like it. It is a Wunderlich touring screen. It’s a little bigger than standard, but I can easily look over it without any wind buffeting.
