3rd Gen 4runner Gas Gauge Fixed
This video is shot with my phone so I apologize for poor quality. This is on a 99 4runner talking about everything I tried and did to finally fix the gauge i.e the calibration technique, the add a ground, replacing the fuel sender with the update version of it, as well as finally what ACTUALLY fixed my gas gauge was replacing the entire instrument panel.

Nissan Titan XD 5.0 Cummins, fully deleted, downhill and uphill climb, trailer being towed is a 2013 Gateway 32 RLS 5th wheel. 1900lb hitch weight, 11500 dry, truck and trailer on scales just over 20k, 30HP tune. Shot with my phone sorry if poor quality.

2018 Nissan Titan XD towing GCVW of 8015KG almost a daily thing with this truck, at one point did a WOT Run. Tunes from Proven Diesel, Airlift Airbags, Zone leveling kit. 5" Flo Pro.
How did you calibrate it?
I love seeing idiots ask shit about deletes. Learn theory and operation and do it yourself you fucking pussies
Gauge cluster problems were a problem with Cherokees (I still have one, switched to a 4Runner recently though for a daily driver). The problem was different types of plastics, and over time between heat and cold cycles of plastics aging and expanding at different rates the connector in the back lost connectivity. I'd bet if you fiddled with the connector for a bit and gave closer inspection you might see the problem. Expect that the one you have now is going to do the same in the future. Depending on where it was sourced from it could be ready to kick the bucket in a few years.
Thanks for the reply, I fiddled and screamed, and cleaned everything put di electric grease on contacts and plugs/connectors. I checked on forums and it was a old service bulletin on these. The back of the panel shorted out and melted the one little spot where the gas gauge signal wire or whatever it was on back on cluster. Im sure it will but gas gauge stopped working at 370 so long as I get another 150k with this one I'd be happy.
How much better mpg you getting. My 2017nhas 47k miles on it and plan on deleting soon. I haven't towed with my truck Yet im 2nd owner and truck was a daily driver for previous owner. Also have you added a larger transmission pan for the asin transmission and any other upgrades us titan owners can learn from?

Awesome video. I also tried the ground wire trick and it didn't work either. When I did try the ground hack the fuel gauge light wouldn't go out. I am going to try what you suggested before getting pissed. This is my wife car and she wont give it up. I even bought her a new BMW x5 twin turbo, she sold it to car max 24 months later. What is she driving? 1996 toyota turd. Why? Because woman are crazy. My grand pops was a smart man. Sitting in his pickup truck on the ranch waiting for the cattle to come down to fee, he said grandson I will teach you two of the most valuable things in life and you will live longer and happier because of it, I was about 10 at the time. He handed me his can of Copenhagen and said here take pitch so I did, Thought I was bad ass Like Grand dad until I swallow a bit and puked my brains out. Grand pop said lesson 1 this horse shit will kill you, stay away from it. lesson 2 Grandson, a happy wife is happy life remember that. We found grand pop hunched over dead in his pickup out in one of our fields few years later. He didnt take his nitro pills with him. His truck got stuck in the field so he tried to dig himself out and had a heart attack.

How big of 5th wheel are you pulling? We have a 27ft and I’ve been contemplating on buying a xd Cummins, the Gmc 1500 max tow doesnt like the weight.
The 5th wheel is a 32RLS Gateway stem to stern is almost 36ft. 1900 on the pin 11600 dry weight. I have airbags because my truck has a leveling kit and don't want to do a wheelie everywhere. Usually have my airbags maybe at 20-25lbs. Zero issues with it towing, never feel short of power, never feel like your not going to be able to brake. Only complaint towing is the mirrors I wish were a bit taller. And if it's not deleted it loves the DEF around 1000k to a jug maxed out.
Also the truck driving around town empty, and the truck in tow haul working doesn't even feel like it's the same truck. Feels like it's more angry and mad all the time.
Do you ever get a bit of bark on gear changes or on/off boost right away while towing or daily driving? running proven tunes as well, its like it cant decide which turbo to pull from and the rotary valve slams.
I used to then put a trans thermostat in it and never ever had anything weird happen.

@@matthewmorvik1741 no I haven't had a issue with towing. Only thing is I'm not sure if it's working with the -20 here in Canada.

any black smoke on that tune? i’m interested in the same setup you have but i want make sure it’s clean. not interested in puffin down the road or pulling out on the highway. thoughts?
Honestly even on the 0HP tune it smokes a bit, I put a 10 bar map sensor in and it helped but this 5.0 rolls smoke. 30hp isn't bad at all but if you increase the power the smoke comes out, idk if to do with that it gets quick rpm but when it's to the floor on a hot tune it spins 4000rpm quick and lots of smoke, im sure there's some people that have got it minimized, but these guys are really good for constantly updating there tunes and easy to get ahold of and quick responses. Very good people. If you haven't deleted it yet invest in a pedal commander i never would have even deleted my truck when I got my pedal commander I was that happy with it, just I heard the sound of one and that was it for me it was all ripped off. Also when you do a EGR delete and put the new up pipe in the truck gets louder I don't have a muffler and this is the first diesel I've owned that could use one because it is very loud at high rpm.
How did the truck feel while towing? Seems to do okay on the downhill and flats but what about the uphill?

Tunes are good, there always uploading revision tunes and making adjustments and with all the tune profiles they also make same tunes with a 10 bar map sensor tunes as well. Any time I've thought I've had a issue I'll email or call and they always answer and are super helpful.

EZ Lynk tuner with tunes, 5" straight pipe exhaust from down pipe to tip, only thing still intact so far is the EGR but that will be gone in spring.

Def tank and lines and fill neck are all where they would be from factory, but the injector in the exhaust is removed everything is unplugged and it's just a paper weight now no def goes in anymore.
