As part of the 2024 National Narrow Gauge Convention in Greentree PA, attendees had the chance to sign up for a private charter trip to the East Broad Top. 200 people between the busses and self driving were on the property. I bought a keyboard, since j have always wanted to learn to play piano. so, what have i been learning? I've been working on Bob Segers iconic "Roll Me Away". it was my dad's favorite song, so I've started playing this at any open stage I play around or on his birthday. I'm working the vocals in.. be kind, I'm still learning to play

What a trip down memory lane! When I was 4-5 years old, I got the rare ride with the CP Rail workers! They regularly worked on a trestle at one end of my parent's property. The track went through our land. They really appreciated the Cool jug of water I'd take out on a hot summers day, they a friendly cheerful lot. Thanks for a great memory inspiring video.
How far from the Logging Road 31011 Grade crossing? Any ETA on when they will get there?
@wavesnbikes few hundred feet iirc(probably more), but they aren't going to go all the way to the road.

Please make donations to the Friends of the East Broad Top! Every dollar helps, and that is what gets more ties, ballast and rail so they can keep laying more track south toward Saltillo.

That's an R4/5 not r2 model droid .come on at least class it properly
I didn't build it, and am not into star wars. This was at a train convention I attended and have no idea that different 'astromech" exist.
@@jimmybraum942 ahhh cools well it's not an r2 unit ✌️ but us s.w nutters will tell U that . Trains .. superb . UK here we have some epic diesel engines . But not alot else bar passenger electric stuff hope it was cools

The whistle on 16 takes me back to the years I lived on the family farm when I was boy. The steamers hauling freight would haunt the night as they passed by.

The strip mining resumed at Alvan the past couple years including lat year at least according to the EBT train conductor Jeff. Is it going on this year and will the EBTuse some of it?
We don't realize what we have.. my wife and me were here right after we were married . 1979. I Will never forget it . I made a donation of 20000 in her memory. She passed last year. If you can help please donate to keep restoring more of it.

Here's hoping they have either speeders, or a FEBT train running south this coming fall. The work posted on the Facebook pages shows they have cleared the ROW down to the high school
It videos like these that I wish I didn’t live in Missouri and I lived closer to Pennsylvania. My dad and I did get to see this railroad back in 2006 but it was during the weekday when everything was closed up. The next time I wanted to see was when I left the USAF and was out processing from Andrew’s AFB, but that was in 2012 when the operations came to an end. Maybe one day I’ll make it back out east.

Yep, it's called the East Broad Top RR. Only downside side is; it is a very localized area you can travel back to the 1950s.

Interesting to see how different the morning procedure was on Saturday Vs Sunday. I was at the Sunday tour and when we arrived at the roundhouse, M-7 had already dragged 16 across the table to dump the banked fire. They built the fire and steam outdoors on Sunday. I saw you from a distance but didn't get a chance to say Hi.
Still pretty cool to watch them build a fire in it though I bet.
gotta say, the EBT mikado's look vastly better in their pre tourist era liveries, no brass bands, no red cab roofs, truly looking like the old workhorses they were back in the heyday of the EBT

I also agree. The paint job is great. I hope when 18 is up and running again it is painted the same way. I read somewhere that #16 is 500 lbs lighter than 17 and 18 and was the favorite locomotive.

I'm willing to bet they'll do the Hostling tour and freight trips again in the fall for the reunion weekend, or next Feb

What an incredible story - to see #16 actually running, and to think that it's over eleven years since the line was last in action with ANY steam loco! Many congratulations to all concerned. Please tell me the name of the rather odd-looking valve gear on #16 - vey unusual.
