The contractors and the ministry staff are conniving to slow down the work for criminal gains. Corruption fuels the unnecessary delays and retrogression in Nigeria's system. It is quite sad, unfortunate and reprehensible.

If u terminate JB why invite them to bid for the re-awarding of the contract? That doesn't make any sense.There should be a penalty for contractors terminated from projects and banning them from bidding for any further projects for a set period of time should be a good starting point.

Consultants should supervise contractors directly, not the client( in this case Ministry of Works), if the consultants fail to supervise, then the client can punish the consulting company appropriately, and that way every one sits up, contractors and consultants. The client ( ministry) will act as the 2rd eye supervising the entire project including contractors and consultants. Good Job to the minister

It's terrible,tomorrow they will be the first to shout government is not working.But when you ask them to work,it's a different thing.Nigerian press,media houses are part of Nigerian problem,they only visit ongoing projects when the minister is coming.It's eye service and politicians worshipping.If the press were reporting on ongoing project weekly contractors will work,because the minister and government too can see on telly in Abuja what the constractors are doing on site.But in nigeria,the press are more interested in office analysis,media chat and interview with politicians not the actual work the politicians are doing.This is partly why Nigeria struggle with bad infrastructures.The media is suppose to be the eyes and ears of a nation but in Nigeria all the press seems to be the mouth piece of the government not the people.The job is been going on forever,there has never been a media visit on site to see what they are doing,apart from when the minister is visiting.How do you expect such a country to progress?Thank you.

Dave umahi is saying all these but the reality on ground is very different.l watched a biker yesterday,lagos to benin is a national disgrace.She then went from owo to Abuja,that road too is a national disgrace.Federal road from ogun state border to benin republic,a national disgrace.The benin republic side of the road is like heaven compared to the hell on Nigerian side.The world is watching nigerian roads now on youtube,unlike before.This is what the rest of the world is watching,the terrible state of Nigerian roads.Why is it so difficult to resurface roads in Nigeria?Why is it impossible to have Abuja standard of roads across Nigeria? There are very few Nigerian public administratiors I listened to. Fashola is top on the list... I am glad Umahi is now one of them. I strongly believe that if we continue to put dedicated people in charge and we continue to protect our democracy, we will get there sooner than expected.
