DOM Diamant Picked & Gutted
The DOM Diamant is a disk detainer lock with 11 disks and is therefore unique in the DOM model series. It seems to be very rare, at least I have never encountered it in the wild.
Due to the very unusual key profile, a special tool is needed for picking, but this can be made quite easily from an ejector pin and a suitable handle. The lock is front-tentioned and can therefore be tentioned with a standard tensioning tool. When picking, note that the innermost disc is spring-loaded and must therefore be picked last.
Interestingly, I personally found picking the DOM Diamant easier than opening any of the cheap disk detainer locks I've had to deal with so far.
The DOM Diamant is rated black in th...

Kaba experT (16 Pins) Picked & Gutted
Просмотров 3962 месяца назад
The Kaba experT is a high pin count lock that can have up to 22 pins. Most of the driver pins are T-pins so that they must be picked two (or rather multiple) times. I found that the main challenge of this type of locks lies in identifying and setting the binding pins over and over again while avoiding oversets. However, I also found that with some experience the latter is not too difficult. Key...
DOM ix Twinstar Picked & Gutted
Просмотров 2182 месяца назад
The DOM ix Twinstar is a high security dimple lock with 9 standard pins in the main stack and two interactive elements. Both interactive elements are driven by moveable ring shaped inserts in the tip of the key. One of them could be counted as number 10 in the main stack as the driver pin uses a similar chamber in the housing. The other interactive elements is yet another pin at the back of the...
Hi-Shear LK 1200 Padlock with Medeco Cylinder - Presentation, Pick & Full Gut
Просмотров 1374 месяца назад
The Hi-Shear LK 1200 is a padlock model designed for high security applications in rough environments. It was produced between 1982 and 1983 only and is (or was) used by U.S. military. This particular lock was used by U.S. forces in Germany in the 1990 to secure an ammonition bunker. There must have been several of those in use but most of them were scrapped when the troops withdrew from German...
ABUS EC700 Picked & Gutted
Просмотров 187Год назад
The Abus EC700 is a 10 pin dimple lock with the special feature that the pins are arranged in two rows one above the other. There are 6 pins in the main stack at the bottom and 4 pins in the top row, with the top pins sitting exactly above the middle 4 pins of the bottom row. The bottom pins have stronger springs, so that in the closed state they overset the top pins which makes picking much mo...
DOM ix Saturn Picked & Gutted
Просмотров 181Год назад
The DOM ix Saturn is a 10 pin dimple lock quite similar to the ix 10 model. The main difference is that in the ix Saturn the last pin is driven by a ring shaped active element in the key. Maybe the ix Saturn is supposed to have more sophisticated security pins than the ix 10 in general but I found that my individual example was easier to pick than the ix 10 example I picked in this video: rucli...
DOM ix 10 (With Fins) Picked & Gutted
Просмотров 340Год назад
This DOM double euro cylinder has 10 pins with shark fin shaped pins. It also appears to have tight tolerances which makes picking quite difficult. At least for me it provided quite a challenge and it took me a lot of practice to finally defeat it. So don't be fooled by the less than 3 minutes I needed in this video. As you may have suspected, this was also not the first take. If you are also w...
ABUS TS5000 & XP1 Picking & Insights
Просмотров 14 тыс.2 года назад
The ABUS TS5000 (as well as the XP1) has an extremely paracentric keyway and a no less extreme bitting, often with zero lift pins as well as pins that need to be lifted very deeply. On the other hand, it appears to be quite pick-friendly in terms of tolerances and feedback. It took me some time and practice to develop a strategy for picking this one but finally I am able to pick it reproducibly...
GEGE AP2000 Picked & Gutted

Another lock I bought on a flea market for a few Euros. It is listed in the blue belt category on reddit (www.reddit.com/r/lockpicking/wiki/beltranking/ ). This one has a nasty keyway. In combination with the high cut pins it is not too easy to pick.
ASSA D12 (Level 2) Picked & Gutted

I brought this interesting lock from my summer holidays in Sweden where a friendly local locksmith gave it to me for free. It provided quite a challenge and it took me some time to get into it but finally I made it. Afterwards I realized that the ASSA D12 is listed in the brown belt category on reddit (www.reddit.com/r/lockpicking/wiki/beltranking/ ). What a nice surprise!
Abus Titalium 80TI/50 Picked

The Abus Titalium 80TI/50 has six pins: One standard pin and 5 spools. Abus rates this as an 8 out of 10. Yet, I was able to pick this one surprisingly fast. I took this video to apply for the green belt in lock picking on reddit (www.reddit.com/r/lockpicking/).

Citadel CB 50 Picked

I would not use this Citadel lock for any security related purposes. However, it is a nice practice lock and confidence builder for both raking and single pin picking. It has 4 standard pins with apparently no additional security features. I took this video to apply for the yellow belt in lock picking on reddit (www.reddit.com/r/lockpicking/).
Master Lock 1D Picked

Very nice! Amazing work! Nice tool you created there! Where did you buy the ejector pin? I am always curious and have not yet bought one... Anyhow, congratulations on the open 👍👍

Thanks a lot! I think many people order ejector pins directly in China but I simply used amazon.de: www.amazon.de/QUARKZMAN-Auswerferstifte-Durchmesser-mechanische-Wartung/dp/B0CT7Z9VGY/. They fit perfectly. 1.5 mm would be to wide, I guess.

that's a heavy piece of history! The shackle has to be cut twice in order to free it from a hasp; but again, close to impossible to get to it to begin with.

Ich würde Dir empfehlen, verschiedene Ansätze zu probieren. Z. B. im oder gegen den Uhrzeigersinn spannen, die unteren Pins vorab mehr oder weniger herunter drücken. Letztlich kommt es darauf an, was zuerst bindet. Es kann schwierig werden, einmal übersetzte Pins hinterher wieder zu lösen. Auf jeden Fall viel Erfolg!

Well done 🤘 I'm about to start one of these, watching some other pickers first. Curious if you needed a key in each side to take out the cam? I only have one key for this euro cylinder, don't want to cut it if I don't have to - it's a really nice big old bronze one. Cheers!

    • @erik-weisz
      @erik-weisz Год назад

Thanks a lot! Most of the time I am too lazy to use segmented followers for the first side, to be honest. Instead, I remove the clips and then gut the first side "the quick way", i. e. inserting the key, turning the plug about 45 degrees and remove it, thus accepting that the driver pins and springs of that side get mixed up. In this case there are active and passive pins and other things on all 4 sides of the core so you need to be careful that you don't drop to many of those. After that the other side can be gutted using a follower and a shim as usual. You can then determine the correct order of driver pins from that side and sort the drivers from the other side accordingly.

Well picked 👍👍 That was really quick, even with practicing it beforehand 👌I tend to slip off these shark fins very easily 😅 Did you initially gut it using segmented followers? Cool gutting now, anyhow 👍 Cheers 🍻

    • @erik-weisz
      @erik-weisz Год назад

Thank you very much! There was only pin that caused trouble with the pick. It has to be set very deeply and the pick got badly stuck from time to time. But otherwise no problem with the tools shown. I gutted the other half "the quick way". I do this most of the time as the probability to brick the lock this way is not much higher than using segmented followers without a shim. The order of the key pins is still known as they are in the plug and the order of the drivers can be determined from the other side. So no problem. However, I used segmented followers when I reassembled it after the video had been taken.
