    Nice review. When this bike came out, I had my 98 ZX11 and felt it was better looking and that the bump in performance of the 1200 wasn’t enough to justify changing. Fast forward to 2007 and I did jump to the Zx14. Probably the best bike I’ve ever had. Currently on a 2008 Concours 14 and like it very much. Blah blah blah.

    These Bikes should Stack up pretty well. A Buddy of Mine has a 98 CBR-900rr, and it's Neck and Neck with My 02 R6 in a Drag Race. R6 Handles a little better though.

    Top review. Very good mate. Lots big engined motorcycles will do 100,000 miles with regular oil changes. Mad that you can buy one of these 1200's for between £2000-3000 with just 30k on it. I love dials, proper speedo and rev counter. Not these modern screens that look horrible. The designers have to put these screens bang in the middle of the dash. Big cut out square. Not a thing of beauty! Few months ago I went from Oxfordshire to Normandy on a ZX-9R and it was really fun. I sold it for an 800 Crossrunner, but wish I'd hadn't.

    a really good assessment of both bikes. genuine and realistic appreciation of their attributes. personally i prefer the suzuki but then again i own one. MTC can, upgraded brake pads, bar risers, black screen, black side fairing with red nose cone, red half tank cowl and red rear seat flash. beauty and practicality all in one. a well behaved labrador or a howling wolf depending on what you want. i love it.

    One of mine I've owned since 10,000 miles. Now it's got 100,000 miles on it and doesn't consume oil between services. Sure some things have 'aged' and the bike has some patina...but it's still going strong and pulls like a, well, ZZR.

    First 45 secs and we fail to mention somethings important. That the limit point is the furthest 'unobstructed' distance that we can see ahead and it is also the distance to that limit point which allows us to assess our road speed and more importantly the distance that we can stop in should the need arise. . Obviously then of there is a car or other vehicle in the way then that actually becomes our limit point. Unfortunately some riders seem to make observation up the road and to the limit point before and during a bend in the road and fail to take into account their closeness to say a car, the object in front of us. So whilst we can still see as far as we can up the road our new limit point is just as far as we can see to the nearest obstruction ie that vehicle in front. Then the limit of our vision should finish with that distance that we can easily stop in behind that car and on our side of the road. That is just as important. The fact is on many roads with heavy curvature then changing our position by say 3/4 ft in our own side of the road from one side to another may indeed increase our vision but only by the same amount and in relation to our speed. So no real advantage in doing that by only seeing some 3/4 ft more of the road ahead. If we were a police officer doing 100 mph or above then its more than likely that under some circumstances we might be well over to the other side of the road by the offside kerb and in order to see extremely longer distance required due to our speed and relative safety. However we are not police officers but maybe should ride like they do under normal patrolling duties of not necessarily overtaking everything in sight but of following traffic and watching out for offenders. Or in our case potential dangers. We civilians are limited to slower speeds so we maybe do not need to see that far and be safe ie. still be able to stop in the distance seen to be clear and on our side of the road. That also means giving that safe distance to the vehicle in front and not to tailgate it. Too many incidents are suffered by bikers who ride too fast for the conditions [ not nec. exceeding the speed limits ] but just to fast, lacking forward vision on inappropriate overtakes and on bends etc.

    I have a 2014 Performance Sport, which is the next model up from this one. I've had these bikes since 2011 and I wouldn't ever change it unless Kawasaki made a new one. I tour all over Europe on mine and they are happy in traffic or on the open road and round the Nurburgring. There is no bike that can do what these can do. They will lean over so far that the lower fairing will scrape on the floor and they destroy litre sports bikes. If you haven't ridden one, go and ride one because the torque is phenomenonal. Just watch the speedo because 130mph feels like 70mph.

    I've spent quite a bit of time riding a friends F3 and I owned an F4 for a couple of years, great bikes. The only sport bikes I've owned that was more comfortable and easier to ride for long periods was my YZF600R Thundercat, that bike is outrageously comfortable to ride. Haven't had a bike for a couple of years now but I'm probably going to get an F4 or a Thundercat.

    Just keep on top of cam clearances, say 10k service, to keep vibration through bars down and noise which comes up from under instrument panel, you notice with visor up.. Only thing missing on this review, should show an acceleration test. I think i owned my bike 6 months before brave enough to redline it.

  • @flybobbie1449
    @flybobbie1449 2 года назад

    Excellent pedigree coming from a GPz900r. Had one for 10 years, left biking for a while, now have had ZZR1200 several years now. ZZR is just a more refined and steerable GPz. Still just as bonkers on acceleration when you want to, or just cruise along. I think some drivers think it's a scooter from the rear, until you open up. i was naughty once chasing a 911 Porsche on motorway, won't say what speeds we were doing.

      @@livehappycoaching4346 I have two CBR600 FTs. One has covered just under 70k miles and the other, just over. I personally have put 40k on one and 20k on the other. Neither use oil, rattle or smoke and neither have been rebuilt or had ANY engine work other than routine servicing. Both average 45 - 60 mpg depending on type of usage - these figures have not changed over the years I've owned the bikes. Wear fast, you say? You might expect them to, but they don't!

    @ 0:58 "Probably not the most exciting bike in the world...but - hey - who needs that much excitement?!" -- Great comment. And who says that this bike isn't exciting at all? I find your statements you made right before very exciting, because who needs a bike that's said to be freaking exciting but you can't in no way rely on it? For me this is where the excitement ends before it has even started. I'm still amazed by the performance the Suzuki GSX1250FA offers especially for that kind of money. Seems to me that the written 98 PS/72 kW are a whole lot more in reality. Not talking about the torque of 108 Nm from deep down below...
