Randonneurs USA
Добавлен 20 июл 2023
Randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring.
OUR MISSION: Randonneurs USA promotes non-competitive, long-distance cycling and serves as the sanctioning body for randonneuring events in the United States.

Why Randonneuring? | Randonneurs USA
Randonneuring is a sport that has been celebrated around the world for over a hundred years, yet today many cyclists may not have heard that there are organized rides for those wanting to test themselves in an all day, or multiple day, adventure. With 54 local groups in 33 states, Randonneuring USA (RUSA) has rides leaving from city centers across the nation. Henrietta helps explain what goes through her head as she prepares for riding a brevet and where her head is while she is in the ride.

Randonneuring is not about being the first to finish the route, it is about finishing. The motivation to keep pedaling is about finding the mental space in order to finish the ride. Getting out on your bike you never know what you may experience.

You never know who you may meet and if that new friend may help give you the snack you need, help rescue you from your flat tire, or help turn your spirits around. Long distance cycling is a mental battle and being on that journey with others is what makes randonneuring so special.

Very nice Video! Bonne Route!
Ride On
Thanks for sharing your story ❤ I was into mtb the past few years and randomly signed up for a century ride this year with no long distance riding under my belt ever. I modified my hardtail, and then a few months later, I got a gravel bike. Started riding to covered bridges in my area in march, doing night rides, etc. I learned a lot about myself in this short time, learned from mistakes like bonking, met some great people and I've fallen in love pushing myself when I find the time ( I have 4 daughters ) so I find time to get all day rides in 2-3 times a month. Fast forward from march to today, and I have over a half dozen century rides with 3 of them over the 200k mark. Can't wait to pay dues ,get an official 200k ride in, and join all the lovely people who do this. You all inspire me!
Great job, sounds like randonneuring is right up your alley! Where do you live? We have a great national organization as well as so many great regional leaders to get you going when you are ready.
@dawnpiech5565 I live in Indiana and met some great folks at one of the Recon rides I went to for the dustbowl 100 event I did. I finally reached out to them as of yesterday. I didn't know what kind of cycling I'd end up doing when I first got into all this in March, but you're correct. This seems to be what I was looking for.
@@Dadstrails the Indiana Randonneurs are a great bunch! I was at Dutbowl 100 too!
Hi, I’m also a Randonneurs from BC. I discovered than almost any cyclist can actually do very very long distances. Last year, at 69 y/o I did 403.75 km. Solo, self sufficient and no drafting despite being plagued with OA arthritis so therefore need to choose the event very carefully. This year I’m planning to do a 600 km with 500 km within 24 hrs. X my fingers. Curiously, I don’t chase the crowd but if an occasion shows up I welcome it. Cheers.
Thanks for following along, congratulations on your your 400k despite having OA. Job well done, best of luck on your 600k this season.
Loved this video very chilled vibe , now wanna ride lol
Ride & LOL!
Saw the name & thought this had something to do with the orc businessman vtuber. RUclips recommendations are weird sometimes, lol.
LOVED the video. Your bike is too small for you. Just saying.
honestly, there is a whole lot of wrong going on here.
Does it make it cooler to call it "randonnneuring", or could you have just as much enjoyment if you called it "bicycle touring"?
Isn't the difference that bike touring is something you make your own plans for, and randonneuring is an organized long-distance ride you show up to and participate in?
Randonneuring looks like fun. I will have to give it a go ;<))
what's the bike, the drive side and non-drive side are swapped?
I noticed that. They flipped some of the footage for some reason, the writing on her helmet is back to front too.
Wish you make more videos bout rando.
Can you make your content inclusive by formatting the auto captioning into closed captioning please? it is extremely hard to watch it relying only on the auto captioning sadly (I'm Profoundly Deaf)
Just letting you know that I'm working on a fix for this.
Thank you @edscoble for this, we appreciate your input. As mentioned, Randonneurs USA is aware and fixing this. Thank you @RandonneursUSA.
This is different than cycle touring how?
Google ‘randonneuring’. The internet is your friend. Lazy answer: timed events that happen in a series of increasing distance - 100, 200, 300, 400, 600, 1200 kilometers. You have control points, and have to beat a cut off time. Touring is total freedom. :-)
I like that you show that you’re having fun even in rainy dreary weather. We will tray the planet better by knowing it on all weather. Thanks for the video.
Any one know the bike brand?
Why it's mirrored?
Great to get out in the rain & cold. It’s so good. Everything else is a major plus.
Was it in the contract to flip the video for all her close-ups. This takes Cycology to another level.
Hi, what kind off bike are you riding? Greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪💪
Interesting left-right reversal in some of the shots. Good commentary, though.
Great benefits for health too. Cycling will keep you fit and feeling young. A true lifetime pastime!
Really reminds me of the intense loneliness of the majority of brevets I’ve done. Not attractive
Curious - what region are you riding in? Same thing happens with me so I commonly try to figure out what events my friends are riding or try to recruit folks to join me. Hoping these videos help get the word out. :-)
I can't keep up with anyone anymore, so I embrace the idea of riding solo now. It helps me preserve my self-esteem.
Really love these videos!
Would be a more inspiring video, if they didn’t show people riding in the rain all the time…
Welcome to the Pacific Northwest.
"Randon neuring"... that's a familiar name🤨🤔
Замечательная работа оператора!
Nice
Huh
Nice
Yeah
Whats she riding?
Found it, but RUclips won't let me post the link. It is Watts Frameworks. I had to set to highest quality, screenshot at 0:47, left-right flip the image, guess the three letters after "WA", and then luck out because google thought "WAFFS" was similar enough to "WA(shington) made bikes", and one link in the Images results had a similar looking logo and the builder's face was in the link.
cool youtube recommended your video after i did watch a top 10 reasons why bike mechanics are jerks
It should be normal, cars ruin landscapes.
Well done! I have personally experienced all the points raised here. It is an enlightening, rewarding and enriching sport.
Former randonneur here. This is not very inviting. Bad weather, really OLD riders, slow and shaky riding. Napping out in the old bank lobby…. Its just a little cheesey
What did you like about rando? What are you doing now? Just curious.
But that's the reality of it you can't be a fair weather cyclist and do rando/AUDAX. And honestly anyone put off because they don't want to ride with cyclists of lower ability, or "really OLD riders" would do well to remind themselves they used to be the former and (if you are lucky) you will eventually become the latter.
This clip feels like it was aimed at a certain type of person, the emphasis on gaia as opposed to personal triumph and bloody minded determination which is cool, can't necessarily relate but I get it.

The distances draw you in--so true. Nicely done. Randonneuring definitely has given me a different perspective on how far I can ride. Love how the video finishes at the post office. I haven't napped in one yet, but it's a rando classic.
This is so good! I’m coming Up on my one year rando-versary, and I’ve been sharing this with friends to get them excited to join me as well. Thank you so much for making it!
Curious, how did you find randonneuring? What was your journey like?
As a newer randonneur, I find this whole series SO COMPELLING. Watching them makes me want to ride even further. Thanks for all your hard work and for making this hobby accessible, and inclusive.
As a new rider - how did you come across our niche little corner of long distance cycling? Just curious.
@@teamphilfox through some friends who ride with SFR (got invited to a 200k for a friend's birthday and registered for RUSA so I could join)
I need more friends to do birthday rando rides with! 😅 Welcome to the party!
Nice intro to randonneuring,
drivetrain looks reversed!!!
Video might be flipped
1:34 Now that’s an outfit and a half 😁
Maybe she was cold.🙄
Some lovely shots/editing 😊
Nice video! Did you do PBP this year
This sport is super awarding and addictive. You'll find yourself riding distances that once seemed difficult to drive. You'll discover discomfort at any level can be overcome. You'll see how far you can push your body without lasting harm. You'll find yourself all over the world and meet people from all walks of life. Maybe you'll bring yourself to the infamous PBP and find out that it truly holds up to the hype. This really is the only sport that is designed to take you further than you ever thought you could.
wooooow Love it
Is her drivetrain on the non-drive side?
The image was flopped right to left. (mirrored if you will) Read the text on her helment. She's wearing a htimS helemet.
Mirrored video footage
the video is...reversed.
Amazing summary of the whole randonneuring idea. I randonneur for the past 12 years and still counting.
this is very cool. Why is the video reversed though?
I’m glad someone else noticed that also😂😂
