Yes you can do what you are suggesting and it would work totally fine. I like to have a channel that is my reverb that way automation is easy and I can access it without clicking through different things to get to it. Plus if you do it through this workflow, you can craft many more effects channels. For example: Drums room, snare verb, piano verb, guitar delay, guitar verb, vocal delay, vocal verb, synth fx, etc. All this really does is open up the possibilities. Instead of being stuck with only a few fx buses that is stock with GarageBand.

Love it man! So gad you found that useful. I wish I would have been around when all music was recorded to tape. Digital is awesome and it allows so many people to record and mix, but nothing will ever compare to that tape sound and overall experience. ❤

Yep exactly. Automation is the last thing in the chain when it comes to fader volume. So if you level your vocal, then add compression: your compressor isn't going to be working off of the leveled vocal. It will be working off the vocal pre-levelling. Does that make sense?

You are very welcome! I don't believe bounce in place exists in GarageBand. It is in Logic and it is definitely ideal to use that instead if you are using Logic Pro

If you duplicate it, you are also duplicating all the plugins that are on that track. If you export it, you export the sound of the plugins on the track. That way on your reverb track, you only need to add reverb and an EQ. Does that make sense?

@@CellarDoorSound Not really! But maybe i'm too inexperienced at GB to wrap my head around it. I would think you have a track with dry vocals and then apply the plugins & effects afterwards (ideally on a duplicate track)

@@KevinFanning No worries! Honestly you can do it either way. I like to have my vocals with some eq, compression, and de-essing before adding effects, but honestly there is multiple ways to do it. As long as you are getting a sound you are happy with, then you are winning!

You can either create it with the exact upper and lowercase, or you can go to that plugin, create a random preset, and your computer will make the folder for you

@@sounde11evn of course! I’m so glad you find them useful. I use the slate vsx headphones and smaller genelec monitors for reference. I’ve been mixing on genelec for a long time. Even on the vsx headphones I only use the genelecs room for mixing
