Thanks. Unfortunately it’s impossible to quantify the improvement. It will depend on the whole signal chain from music source to headphones. Sometimes maybe there isn’t any improvement at all too. But the most important thing is that you’re enjoying your equipment. If you really want to try it, you can always get them from somewhere with a good return policy.

I think the Kensei will be the better option if you plan to drive the HD660s2 with it. It has more power and gives you more headroom than the DC-Elite. What did you compare the sound to? Sometimes improvements are really minimal when upgrading to another DAC.

Just compared them again and the difference is pretty apparent unfortunately. The overall clarity improvement is better on the DC-Elite. There might be slightly more bass on the DC07Pro, but the DC-Elite’s bass is faster and has more texture.

I haven’t tried the RU7, but the DC-Elite is noticeably better than the DC07Pro overall, especially in terms of staging and imaging. But it’s not as powerful of you have some harder to drive headphones.

Can’t comment on the oil kings as I’ve never tried them. But I’ve used the piano switches on several keyboards and have nothing to complain about. Just gets the job done.

Not sure if it’s compatible with UAC 1.0, doesn’t say in the manual. But it has around 60 steps of volume.

It would work, but definitely not a good idea as you would be double amplifying the signal of the MBA. If you can only get one device, DAC/amp combos like the Zen DAC, K11, etc would be a better idea than using the Atom Amp alone.

I haven't tried the Zen Dac + Can V3 combo side by side with the Atom 2 stack. But I recall that the Zen V3 Combo having a much warmer and more weighty sound signature, while the Atom 2 Stack is more neutral and sounds wider. Really depends on what you like, the Atom 2 will also be more powerful for harder to drive headphones.

@@Late_Night_Unboxing Have you never tried before the ifi audio zen dac version 2? What do you mean by « harder to drive headphones » ? My Beyerdynamic is 250 ohms, but it doesn't have balanced cables. The Zen Dac version 2 was already really powerful, especially if you pressed the "Power match" button. In fact my fear for the Atom Amp/Dac 2 stack is that the very transparent sound will result in a flat sound, without depth. I am very surprised when you say that the sound of the Atom 2 stack is at the same time very wide and with strong bass, I mean that I am surprised that a good width or spatiality is produced by a sound that is nevertheless less warm and transparent.

Can’t really comment on that as I haven’t tried either of them.

Yeah, it has more of an effect on deeper boards compared to a clackier board like the Luminkey65!

The 5k regions does not bother me too much, probably because it dips pretty quickly in the upper treble to balance it out. But vocals can be a bit bright to some due to the early rise in the upper mids.

Oh and I used Final E tips when I reviewed the unit, where were relatively narrower tips. Which I thought complemented the FR quite well by boosting the bass and maybe taming the upper mids and treble a bit.

Indeed! And also their approach to developing new products. They don’t just release a new product just for the sake of coming out with a new product. Every iteration of their products have a pretty significant upgrade compared to their successor.
