What is this? Mrs Jones found it working it's way across our front lawn. The case is about 180mm long and the head is about 50mm long when fully extended. Turns out that this is a Saunders' Case Moth. Aka Bagworm or Bag moth. Quite an interesting moth that builds and carries it's own home around. Custom made twin based on the Clanford Clan design. Kind of a tribute to Mike Clanford. Love him or hate him, there is no denying that most serious model aircraft engine collectors have heard of the man, his book and his engine. This is one of the first substained runs of this engine Propeller is a 6x2.5 inch. Just some cosmetic work to do and hopefully, a decent video will appear on fiery1962 ...

Mary Valley Rattler - RailMotor RMd76 on Turntable
This helicopter brings me such nostalgia! I remember seeing this heli as a kid, and I basically begged my dad for it. Not realizing that these aren’t “easy” to fly as a beginner. Not sure why this heli brought so much nostalgia for so many people, but I’d like to know what brought that on for so many!
That was the heli I taught myself to fly RC helicopters with. Great memories. Out of 10-15 plane flyers that tried heli's I was the only one to figure it out and got pretty good at it, still liked the planes as well. I went on to fly JR Vibe 50, Nexis 30, Ergo 30 and 50, and Kyosho caliber 30-which was an awesome flying heli for a 30 size, among others; The Vibe and caliber were awesome. Our flying club has since been discontinued, along with our field and all the flyers. I took up golf.... but wow do I still miss those days. Nitro all the way, the sound, smell, tinkering to get it perfect was all awesome. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Its a a nitro flavored air freshener dispenser. Yum
it's my now
Still hanging up in my workshop 🙂
Nitro all the way, nice flight ❤
Very nice video of this Hirobo classic helo! I have the Hirobo Shuttle that i bought in Hong Kong in 1989 on West Pac Navy deployment & the Hirobo Shuttle ZX that i bought in 1991, also in Hong Kong comming home from Operation Desert Storm deployment! 6 hours on the 1st Shuttle just trying to learn how to hover & absolutly 0 flight time on the Shuttle ZX! It sits on top of my computer shelf still in prestine condition as it came out of the box 32 yrs ago. I had to fully assemble that one! The 1st Shuttle was pre-assembled with the O.S. .028 engine! Thankya for sharing your video😃👍🏻
Thanks for watching. I also have an early Shuttle. It's the green one and it's hanging up in my cave waiting to be restored - one day.
@DavidJones-ny1xv yes, the 1st hirobo shuttle I have was originally green, but had to replace the fuselage canopy & the both the orizontal & vertical fins all due to a crash! everything is now white!
I love my venture 30 it was my first nitro helicopter found it on marketplace 75 bucks just thrown in somebody's garage got her fixed up and flying had it for about a year ended up having a boom strike so I ended up converting it to fbl using a raptor x50 head fly so good
Nice to meet you🇯🇵Good evening from Japan. It's a radio-controlled helicopter before I was born. This is the first time I've seen a Falcon video. The belt engine is starting! My father was also practicing helicopters using Falcon and 40 Baron (fixed pitch). Thank you for the wonderful video😊 I will register the video on the playlist I made.
Hi and thank you. I love your RUclips channel - lots of lovely old r/c heli's and some really great vintage videos of flying r/c helicopters. Heli-Lucky www.youtube.com/@Tahmazoheli_1989/videos
Makes me wish I still had my Kyosho Nexus 30.
So much better than those boring drone things they invented these days
love it!!old school rocks!!
Absolutely
Tanks,it Was my first rc hélicoptère in 90' 😊😊
I have one of these but really not good at the setup or programming my radio so it just sits here 😞 also not sure what to use for a flight battery
Hopefuly you can find somebody at a local club that can help with the TX programming. I use these battery flight packs, mainly because they are available in Australia and the four cells suit the older electronics that I use: www.batteriesdirect.com.au/shop/product/9799/4/bk-3mcce-flt-jr.html
@@DavidJones-ny1xv thanks for the info!!

Thanks, that was a lovely flight
wierdota chooksota.
Had one 1991. Did you fit a gyro ?
It sports an old mechanical gyro - Futaba FP-G153BB. Love your boats!
Looks great 👍🏼 where I can find this blue hex shaft for starter please?
Thanks. The hex came from a cheap set of long reach metric allen keys. I machined an extension for it that fits into a cordless drill.
@@DavidJones-ny1xv I got it 🍻thanks lot🤞🏼
Love the mod!
I have fond memories from the very early 1980s as I saw such helicopters hanging in the roof for display. Our my toy/hobby store at home / Sweden. Beleive they were mighty expensive and it was said they were difficult to fly. Only masters could pull it off.
Everything's hard before it become easy
I bought a venture jr . How do I know If i have a gas or nitro?
Being a JR Venture it would most likely be a glow engine (Nitro). Easiest way to tell is to take out the glow or spark plug and have a look. To be sure, take the heli to your local hobby shop or model airplane club and ask them.
Sweet 2 stroke and smell of Nitro brings back memories of 1980 heh Congratulations on this restoration project! Well Done - I saw your Falcon in flight.
Bravo 👍Congratulations Another Hirobo Classic 1980 frame airborne - No 3D banging all over the sky - just old fashioned flying and no gyro I guess …
Thanks. It does have rate gyro on the tail 🙂
That rotorhead and canopy looks like a competitor..
Yep - Lots of Hirobo parts went into the GMP Competitor
👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hello Friend. Do you have a video on how to align flybar blades?
I have no video but there is an explanation and photos of how I aligned the paddles on my RC Groups restoration log at the bottom of this page: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?4220603-Hirobo-Falcon-555-Restoration/page4
Very nicely Done!
Thanks for you kind comment. I've lost count of the amount of your videos that I have watched over the years - always entertaining.
@@DavidJones-ny1xv Thanks much!
great restoration...thanks for linking build log. how does she handle?
It handles really well for my style of flying - old school sport/scale. It's currently my favorite flying heli, with or without floats. I guess it's just as Hirobo intended back in the day - nice and stable in the hover and tracks well in forward flight.
never seen a Falcon before. very Mini-boy like.
I have two of these little square head Pfeffer engines. One has a red head and spinner and the other is blue. They are new and unrun but with no original box. With its rough casting crankcase and twin machined exhaust pipes it is a delightful sight. It is getting harder to get the diesel fuel but in the UK you can buy Technics D1000 and D2000. Use the higher ether content D1000 on these smaller diesel engines.
Nagyon kis aranyos motor. Gondolom keveset fogyaszt. :)
That flew beautifully
Apart from this beautiful restoration, I'm also impressed you were able to reprogram an 636A. Was it from another heli or a plane previously?
Thanks. The AR636A was from an Eflite carbon cub. They are quite easy to re-program, including getting rid of 'safe and panic' modes. Just need to re-flash the frimware to version 1.43 using the Spektrum USB programming cable and the Spektrum Programmer Software. I have done a couple of these receivers now. You can find all of this info here: xinhaidude.com/2019/03/17/what-on-earth-is-safe-or-how-i-hacked-ar636-from-v900-to-fly-the-freewing-mirage-2000-with-safe-and-as3x/
@@DavidJones-ny1xv nice work!!. I never thought of that and had resigned myself to having these great receivers with limited application due to the perceived locked nature of them.
@@DavidJones-ny1xv thanks heaps for that tip
Nice work mate. I'm still not brave enough to fly one that size. I'll do it in a simulator.... not very well though. :) That flies really well for a heli that age.
I want to purchase this?
Nice 😘
Wow never see this model before.... thanks for sharing

Love it can't beat em hey little sreamers
Nagyon aranyos kis motor, gondolom keveset is fogyaszt.😊

How to make this engine
That's Not much! If it hapen's 0,1 CC.
beautifulll
Wow.. Looks amazing. Do you have plane or drawing for your amazing motor?
Hello, whart material did you use for the piston ? if cast iron, where did you find small stock, since i can only find 20mm cast iron rods online, and that would involve a lot of waste !
Hi. I used cast iron to make the piston. You are lucky to get 20mm rods. The smallest I can ever find is 25mm and it does involve a lot of waste (and mess).
I use cast iron gate post latch, from the diy store . Don’t know it’s composition but it’s a cheep alternative and it works for me .
@@tonywright8294 doesnt it have impurities or pores ?
No ,it’s good enough for small engines .
