That Was SO Cool! I Went From 10 To 22 Years Old Watching Hawaii Five-O. Love To See The Old Cars & Remember When They Were New. Thank You. (Comment #70)
Back in the 70s we played this at assemblies in high school. I played Bariton sax in Stage Band 25 people, Concert Band, and Symphony. In Stage Band we would blast away this tune, it was so fun. We all knew how it was supposed to sound from watching the show and we just went at it.
This and the A team theme are maybe two of the best, Mannix also is one of my favorites, the good old days when tv shows were entertaining, I almost forgot the new Bob Newhart show, that theme song was by the great Henry Mancini.
The original Hawaii Five-O was one of my grandmother’s favorite shows ever! Whenever the theme song goes on, the whole family would sit in front of the tv and watch! Great times! Always loved the theme song! Best ever! ☮️🖖🏽
Great Performance, historic moment! Thanks for posting. I grew up with that band and that TV show. Fun to see the great Alto Reed of so many Bob Seeger hit song sax solos playing a BASS SAX, and dancing with it! Wish we could hear him....
Funny. I just ran into my old comment here, as I was researching Alto Reed for a Bob Seger Tribute band that's asked me to play. Even funnier is Alto Reed's "oops toot" at 1:28 when the band skips the beat, but Alto mistakenly hits it with his bass sax. If he was like me, it probably haunted him that he made that little mistake, recorded for perpetuity. HE IS FORGIVEN, for all his years as one of the top Rock and Pop sax players of all time!
@@blankmindtheory3446 Jeez ! Me too ! That guy kinda ruined it for everyone, including I and I. I wonder if he's a senior member of the band with an ego bigger than his talent. >

Don Wilson told me that The Ventures decided to record Hawaii Five 0 at the suggestion of one of his neighbors.
The best detective show and superb theme song ever.

Actually, my mom LOVED Hawaii 5-0. We could not a sound when it was on the TV. Great Sounds
I might have seen one episode. But always knew what time it started and always caught the music. Maybe it was up against hockey.
@ralphfurley123 the ventures! So sixties ans and seventies
This song is just a part of my childhood...
As well as mine! Back in the 70’s we were watching Hawaii 5-0 in Greece 🇬🇷, too!

wowwwwwwwwwwwwww !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is great, but I especially got a kick out of the bass sax player dancing around like a butt monkey, and then "farting" in the rest at 01:28.
Guitars way to strong and horns to weak ..
Agreed

The first time I ever saw Seger in concert he was the warm up band for Foghat. Alto nearly stole the show, came offstage into the audience to play.
