Lucky to call Mike a friend. I was in high school living across the street from him and his fam and became good friends with them all. He's got three daughters and they've all grown up to become amazing young women. He's a great father - Rooney

Thanks for this, very helpful. Quick question, my 9u pitcher does the fastball grip almost properly, he likes to put his thumb kind of to the corner of the and not directly underneath, when he does put directly underneath, the ball slips out a lot when pitches or even throws. What would you suggest we do?

It was great to hear about Mike's career. I played and roomed with Mike in Waynesboro - we had a lot of fun that summer.

Yes. Start with the three finger grip at first. Once that feels comfortable after you throw a little bit switch to the two finger grip, Fourseam fastball make sure to keep your thumb underneath the ball when using three finger grip and two finger grip that will help balance it out. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you.

Yea I started playing baseball at age 5 until I was 12 then from there I started playing travel baseball at the age of 13 and I played for coaches that played pro or college. Then from there I played highschool baseball for three straight years and then I went to tryouts that MLB was having at Emory University in Atlanta. They told us that if they were interested in you that they would call you well I got the call. The Florida Marlins which now is the Miami Marlins were interested in me but unfortunately that is as far as I got but I can at least say that I was being scouted at one time by the Florida Marlins. I also pitched and also played firstbase and I could hit a little bit and I know a little bit about base running also. My playing days are over but baseball is still a passion of mine and I still love the game and it's still in my blood. So I'm thinking of maybe doing baseball lessons or something that has to do with the game. I've tried to reach out to academies that are in my local area and even sent my resume to MLB but can't seem to get anywhere. But I'm just hoping that someone will notice because I feel that my resume in what I talked about is impressive. See I also live in Georgia just north of Atlanta off of 575 going north of 515 but I can't seem to get anywhere. I've coached before but I have more playing experience than I do coaching experience but I was taught by coaches that played pro or college. Now I've been out of the game for almost 20 years now but I feel that I can develop players in getting them to get them where they want to go

Jeremy, I get y'a. Sounds like you do have a lot to offer. I would encourage you to continue to visit the various baseball academies around the area. Sound like you're in Kennesaw. Going in person to talk to the owner or staff seems to be the best method of connecting with someone. Also, I would encourage you to reach out to the local Little League or park where you live and find out what it takes to coach a team there. Even if you start out helping out the head coach, it's a way to get your foot in the door and meet people. You may end up getting a few private lessons as well. This has worked for me in the past. I have worked at academies as well as volunteered at local parks to coach almost all ages at this point, from T-ball, coaches' pitch, and up. There are a number of academies around that area as well. Look them up, call and find out when they are having summer camps (that time of year), there will be someone there with authority. The key is not giving up. I like where your head's at, you want to give back. That's admirable and I can relate as I did the same. I'm fairly new to the area so I don't know exactly where to tell you to go, but try those methods, even if you have before as you never know when someone has or will be moving on and create an opportunity. Happy to keep helping you. chris

@@bullpensessions Yea I'm definitely am not giving up and I just live north of Kennesaw but baseball has been a big part of my life ever since I started playing. I even made a resume with my accomplishments to MLB and I'm not sure if I will hear anything from them or not but I just feel with what I told you is impressive. I'm going to this agency and I sent them my resume and told them that I wanted to get back to doing what I love best. I mean if it's not doing baseball lessons I'm sure there has got to be some avenue that I can go down. I thought about being a scout but I don't know what all is involved in being a scout

@@Mitten4371 Good luck, Jeremy. I don’t know the steps involved in scouting other than reaching out to teams. I do know it’s competitive but if you have a passion for it, it won’t stop you. You have an impressive background and I would keep pursuing multiple avenues that involve coaching or teaching. Hopefully this agency will come thru.
