I think they are about the stupidest creature on the planet. I bet I have ran over about 40 or more of them. They don't even TRY to move out of the way. Got ALL day and ALL night to cross the road and they walk right out in front of me or walk down the middle of the road. LOOK STUPID!

They are so cool, we have them in Brooklyn Ny now, I work nights and love seeing them, 2 years is too short a life, enjoy all the garbage you can eat little guys

Possums are from North America. Opossums are from Ireland.

They play dead very well. My dog would snatch them off the top of the fence then let it go. It would lay there like it was dead. I came back awhile later and it was gone.

They great, Usually with barbecue sauce. Maybe a little mint jelly

If only we could break the code as to how they are immune to rattlesnake venom and the develop this for use in humans.

I remember when I had just started driving, I was driving home a few days after getting my😂 license, and a possum (this was Texas so I know it’s not the right name but it’s what we called them) a possum mama with her babies on her back crossed the road just after sunset and I slammed on my breaks and sat there as they crossed the road. I sat there, 3-4 houses from my home, 16 years old, frozen, uphill, for about 30 minutes. I was so terrified and so freaked out I didn’t know what to do. I played possum that day and didn’t even know. But I’m glad that little family made it across the street, despite it making me fear driving in the dark for literal YEARS. But yes, protect these little friends.

Did not know they have immunity to rattle snake and black widow venom. Thank you, learned something new before bed time 😊

I love them ,had a pet named Gomer I never picked him up he lived under a garden pool out back ,I did not want him being comfortable around humans,I fed him cat food ,and he loved of all things Angel food cake ?One day I went out back and Gomer wanted me to follow him,he had his wife there with her baby,s all over her ,he was proud father ,and I was a proud grand father miss him !

They are so cute, in my county they are killed for eating birds. I would love to have one or two for a pets😢

They may play dead, but also not afraid to bare their teeth. Found one in a tree about eye level while out bird hunting. Had no intention of finding out how serious he was about using those things.

Possums are cool animals they eat ticks,rodents,bugs,dead animals, snakes very good for the environment

Not a fan because as a kid I saw an opossum crawl headfirst out of a dead horses ass. Sorry, won’t ever forget that 😂 city folks 😂

I once found one walking around downtown somewhere around 4 am. Such a rare sighting, especially for a highly urban area. I was fascinated by the animal, and dared to pick it up by the tail. Imagine my surprise when it basically contorted from an upside down position all the way to my hand to try biting me! I spent some time admiring the animal up close, then let it go its way.

Repeatedly mispronunciation of the name is annoying, like calling pizza ohZebra.

They play dead very well. My cousins trapped for extra money. They caught one and it wasn't worth much ( $1 ) but they skinned it anyway and threw the carcass in the gully. A few minutes later they heard a hissing sound , when they turned around they saw the possum coming out of the gully, lol they said all you could see was eyeballs and teeth.

For all those who like them, get them out of my barn. They're vicious critters that take a lot to finish them off

Opossums are great . I have one that visits every night . Never bother the garden. She loves kit n kaboodle cat food and corn cobs from when I have sweet corn for dinner ( I think it is the butter and salt ).
