I’m curious why so many in this lineage (both in Taiwan and the US) seem so stiff. No doubt many of them are tough and can fight, but there seems very little “internal” qualities in their movements and applications.

For anyone interested I made a video recently comparing the long forms of Yang, Wu, Hao, and Sun forms, with movements synchronized. You can see clearly how they are mostly the same forms with different methods.

The idea that only Yang Shao Jung was the only one who got the entire curriculum is nonsense and an insult to his Uncle's and Gransfather's disciples.

    • @theneijiaquanpodcast8309

Hey Buddy. The quote from the article was that Shao Jung was the last member of the “Yang Family” to receive the full teaching, not the “only” one. Thanks for listening.

@@theneijiaquanpodcast8309 Thank you for getting back to me; for some reason I didn't get a notification of your reply. I have looked for the book but sadly cannot find a copy available used or otherwise anywhere in the world so lucky you!!! When I find myself planning a trip to centre in Colorado, should either of you also be attending, perhaps you could bring it for me to look at? As I'm also a long term practitioner of Chinese medicine hopefully the book contains technical insights that overlap with Chinese medical understanding and terminology which is very rare. I have a pdf scan of a Chinese book by Xie Peiqi a Yinfu Baguazhang lineage holder and medical practitioner a bit like that which is based on what is effectively a type of Qigong tuina. Happy to send it to you if you like, Ben

Interesting parallel with the development of the body practices of yoga in India in the late C19 and early C20, which were also partly in response to racist western ideas about "weak, sickly asians".

Idont understand when tail bone goes down and spine is raised will it cause injury to tail bone as earlier when I used sit on ground in lotus position, I noticed that tail bone was hurting me hence I stopped this sitting on ground.

Hi Celes, in a standing position it's ok to let your tail bone relax a bit. As long as your head keeps rising it will balance out. Just be VERY gentle at all times.
