When people on these podcasts or videos reference the results from a survey or poll, it is crucial for those interviewing to ask who and how many people were involved in the research. In April, OREA sent out a survey of which they referenced many times afterwards. I originally said this survey had fewer than 2 % of the members respond. Well it turns out it was revealed in a ORWP task force meeting that this survey had fewer than ONE PERCENT of the registered realtors respond. To take the results of a survey like this and present it as a representation of the whole is not only absurd, but irresponsible.

OREA continues to repeat misleading information even in this video. OREA is an association and not the employer of realtors and as such has no right to mandate a benefit program. There are many inequalities here for senior agents and for the large group of agents that already have a better insurance program. If OREA wishes to get into the insurance business that's fine ..... BUT realtors should not be MANDATED. They should be able to opt in. The vote should go to the membership not the board reps because OREA voting is controlled by TREBB and this is not a reflection of actual membership.

OREA needs to back off and actually represent it's members rather than mandating them.

This pushback isn’t about the benefits. While very weak, some people could use them. The pushback is over the “take the benefits or leave the industry” attitude. With 96,000 realtors, if 10,000 opt out, that shouldn’t make a world of difference here. Something smells fishy.
