[1987] 北島美智代 (Michiyo Kitajima) - 軽井沢旅情 (Karuizawa Ryojou) [TNK-001 VERSION]
This is an earlier version of what was supposed to be her second single, meant to be released on July 1987 (the version on the other promo version has a different runtime plus a different arranger). However, this was ultimately scrapped as her eventual second (and actually, final release under Teichiku) single was released on September 1, 1987 - with the B-side of that promo version becoming the main A-side and a newly-recorded B-side. Said A-side would eventually be released on CD through "Teichiku Cuties 80's Idol Collection", which was released on August 25, 2004. She sounds to be a more capable singer than many other idols that did manage to have bigger careers. It's interesting to wonder how or why some succeeded and others didn't?
While her vocal capabilities are definitely better than *some* idol singers, her career (and many who started at this point in general) was already set in stone due to the incoming "idol winter era" that began from the late '80s up until the '90s (yay, saturation!) Though in her case specifically, enka idols don't usually garner much popularity (chart-wise at least, though that's the norm for most enka releases) and while she debuted from a well-known label, said label doesn't really bode with idols in general (Masako Mori, despite being part of the "big three" with Momoe Yamaguchi and Junko Sakurada, has a ton of her discography, mainly albums from her Minoruphone era in the '70s, swept to the unknown due to it being well... enkadol music). Plus, I don't think she had other media appearances that didn't involve music (but I could be wrong here which only adds to her relative obscurity). In the end, while it's saddening, it just makes sense knowing the circumstances between the music industry and well, the people consuming said music. Luckily, a lot of them have been reevaluated since their initial release time and time again, and I'm happy it's applying to much more records, especially as we go deeper in the idol kayo-sphere, whether if it leans more enka or city pop or whatever, really! tl;dr: She's an enka idol from Minoruphone in 1988 like pick a struggle girl...
@nm-yuki-p I appreciate your well considered response. As you mentioned, yes, these recent years have seen a considerable resurgence in the reevaluation and appreciation of so much "lost music". Of course, we could argue that the music was never actually lost but only forgotten about, but the important thing is that so much fantastic music is being rediscovered by a whole new generation, often finding greater awareness and appreciation than was seen when first release. Your channel is also a great source for this wealth of entertainment. In many ways, it really feels like treasure hunting for priceless relics. Thank you for all that you've contributed to this cause.

In this case, these are the original backing tracks but otherwise, I use Izotope RX 9 Music Rebalance but there are free services online I haven't tried yet.
