Being a collection of videos, some related to the extraordinary instrument we build, some (dare we say) not so much. Enjoy!
bear cub in our yard
This little guy came bounding by the side window yesterday morning. I managed to catch him (or her) for moment in the front.

A tune from the instructor concert at the 2006 Over the Water Hurdy-Gurdy Festival, at Fort Flagler in beautiful Washington State. Tobie Miller plays hurdy-gurdy, and Sharon Berman plays accordion. Visit www.overthewater.org for 2007 festival information.
For me this is the defining performance of this duo. Superb.
Very informative! Thank you very much.
I use some old gun patches I had laying around. Small, round, cheap and perfect for this job.
Getting a Chinook today super excited
Thanks for the video, very helpful
Phenomenal!
Which stores usually sell liguid rosin? Any online ones? :)
The only liquid rosin you'll find in a store is used in soldering as flux, and probably not suited to applying a hurdy gurdy. Sounds like she made the stuff from scratch by shaving some rosin into that small bottle and dissolving it in grain alcohol.

Got to bring them back to the NW!
@hrodvi Alright, alright ;) I didn't have as much ability to identify gurdies back then as I do now. I went to one of Tobie's workshops, and it was fab.
@WaterpigMaster fail.
loved it ty for shareing lol wish i played that insted of the flute..
Drones and Chanters, just like my other favourite instrument. I guess that makes the Hurdy Gurdy the bagpipe of the stringed world. That would be an awesome performance bagpipes AND hurdy gurdies.
How tricky it must be to keep the two at the same tune....great job! :)
I am blown away
Wow. These guys are AMAZING. The hurdy gurdy sounds like a violin/cello had a baby with a bagpipe. Way to combine my two favorite instruments EVER! :D
Beautiful! Beautiful!
Just love this. Hard to even know what to say. Very, very, very nice.
@hurdygurdy2000 Is it? Odd! Haven't seen one of that design before apart from hungarian ones... In the end, of course, it's down to the player - who in tis case is very good!
Rather odd style of accordion playing! Mainly backing... interesting. I must admit I don't like hungarian hurdy gurdies very much - but Tobie is a very skilled player. Very good!
Thank you for reminding me why I love the hurdy so much. These hurdies have such a beautiful, full sound - unlike most of the out of tune screetchers here on RUclips. :P Then again, I'm sure they must've cost a small fortune. Double thumbs up for the players!
The sounds are very similar to those of bagpipes, wow ! The song is full of joy ! :-)
Wonderful
Fantastic!
Is it possible to contact Tobie Miller? I live in Ottawa and want to speak to her about hurdy gurdys builders and other things.
Beautiful! Well done :D
2.4k USD would get you one you could use for years but the top notch ones will go for about 4k and are very rare in the US.
Truely awsome *drools*
A decent low-end one is generally somewhere in the vicinity of 1.5-2k. A really good lute-back, something like Bouffard's (ponytail guy) would probably be at least three times that, quite possibly more. Chabenat's...I'm not sure.
Mesmerizingly beautiful :)
That was awesome! I love the tune! Thank you!
Bellissima questa musica ! Bravi Ma come si intitola?
It's quite interesting the fact that you actually spin the thingy with your right hand and play with your left
That was very lovely, nicely done.
Very interesting instrument and clearly well played. Thanks for sharing!
Cette vidéo est bien. Si elle vous a plu, essayez d'écouter ces deux vielleux(Patrick Bouffard et Gilles Chabenat)dans leurs propres enregistrements. Ainsi vous serez conquis par la vielle à roue Centre France
Absolutely first class! Thanks.
Somewhere I know the first tune they play from... But it's a different version... Selah
I've always considered the HG as a medieval synth
WoW...This is Incredible.....Both Players are In Total Tune with Each Other....They look like they have been playing Together for Many Years....
absolutely brilliant ! please post more vids of Patrick and Giles ! they are the best xx
Simplement magnifique...
so bitchin. i feel like i'm at a medieval wedding.
Simplement impressionnant... respect
No words could possibly describe how beautifully this sounds! Truly, these guys are masters! Thanks for sharing this vid :)
The tunes are: Cochinelle - Jean Blanchard, and: Avant de s'en aller - Pierre Imbert
What is this tune called? I really love it. I've listened to it like eight times already =Þ
I realize I'm kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good place to watch newly released movies online ?
@Javier Major i use flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
@Colson Mark yup, I have been watching on flixzone for since april myself :)
@Colson Mark Thank you, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) I appreciate it!
@Javier Major No problem :D
Hehe, for me the 2 best french players (and so world players)
She´s playing on a Allegro by Wolfgang Weichselbaumer. They come in two different versions and she has the more expensive one with 3 melodystring. A really nice instrument (got one myself) and it´s affordable to!
It's like guitar-shredding on the hurdy-gurdy. That's crazy! :D But I love it, can't get enough of that instrument.
