I've only dove Mortuary Beach twice, but in at least one spot there is, not a descending rock wall, but rather a series of step rock ledges; each one about two or three feet horizontal, with the next ledge another foot to three feet vertically down from that one. It takes a while to get down to 130 feet, which isn't good because you use more air than in a strait descent and this increases your nitrogen loading. There was a lot of life hiding in the vertical sections of these rock ledges. I remember seeing a pair of wolf eels in one crevice. The second time I was there, when we got to 130 feet my buddy suddenly handed me his camera and motioned for me to take his picture. The odd look on his face told me he was narc'd but fortunately not too badly. I was probably feeling it a bit myself. We then turned around and made our way back to around 20 feet deep and off gassed at that depth for rest the dive, maybe fifteen minutes. I'm pretty sure we had better underwater visibility on that dive than what I see here. I've read that Carmel Canyon eventually reaches a depth of about 6,000 feet (roughly 1,800 meters), though no scuba diver will go anywhere near that far down. Well, no living diver could do that. It is a very cool dive, but not for the inexperienced and you have to time even small wave sets to get out of the water safely. It got the nickname Mortuary Beach for a reason. It has killed a lot of people, though mostly people playing on the beach who turned their back to the water, got clobbered by a wave, then dragged out and down. It can happen very quickly.

In my home town of Cody Wyoming there is a town at about 120 feet. It’s a shame because of the dam I can’t dive it

This is weird but it feels very tropical even though it’s in the mountains it’s so beautiful up there I’ve only camped there once an I can’t wait for my next trip an I know it will be as clear as I remember thanks to ppl like you memory’s I have forever an new memory’s I’ll get to make with my family

Just subscribed to your channel and I’ve really enjoyed your videos of the two of you and feel absolutely terrible to hear you’ve lost your dear friend and dive partner 😢, I just recently lost my best friend and diving buddy as well and it’s not been easy. Wonderful tribute to your friend and a huge thanks for sharing your times together while diving.

Great dive video, loved the interiors video and the moray, very good decision to change direction, on a dive my wife and I were on in Pennycamp Park Key Largo I was following someone’s broken fishing line and it finally ended with a really nice and expensive lure ! Unfortunately it was in the mouth of a very unhappy moray eel with its head sticking out of a large coral head. (Head quite full of very sharp teeth) felt bad for eel but decided wisely not to remove lure and avoid yet another trip to urgent care and have hand amputated due to infection from ungrateful eel 😊
