There is a general assumption amongst most Christians that the Universe, including our planet, were all made 6000 years ago in the Genesis creation week. The grand assumption is that there was NOTHING existing anywhere until the Genesis week. The word Heaven is assumed to be the Universe (and where God's throne is) and the word Earth is assumed to be our whole planet. These definitions are NOT the Biblical definitions. What follows is basic reading comprehension. Trying to fit the creation of the universe into Genesis Chapter 1 so that all were made 6000 years ago is a pointless exercise. What matters is that God created the universe instantly by His Word, which is what the Bible clearly teaches. It doesn't matter WHEN God made the universe since Heaven in the Bible is NOT the universe. If you compare the 2nd day with the 5th day you will see that WINGED fowl FLY in the FIRMAMENT of Heaven. So Heaven is clearly the atmosphere only here. We are not told about a 2nd or 3rd heaven being made. Paul's reference to a 3rd Heaven is not explained and could only be some cultural assumption since there is no other mention of the 3rd Heaven let alone a 2nd Heaven. If we go to the 3rd day we are told that God made Seas and as a result of this DRY land appeared. From verse 2 and the 2nd day account we see that from the start our planet was covered by water, with the Face of the Deep referring to the land. Before God could put life on this planet He had to at first make AIR to breathe and DRY land for Adam and Eve etc to live on. This is what verse 1 is telling us, with the beginning referring to the beginning of the Genesis creation process with the 2nd and 3rd days being the days that Air and Dry land were made. Notice that we are not told about the water and the land being made during this week. Our planet already existed as far as the text goes. Notice also that the 1st day had an EVENING. Bible days started with an evening, from sunset to sunset. If the FIRST day had an EVENING then the Sun, hence the solar system and the universe, already existed. In verse 2 notice that the DARKNESS was down near the land, the Face of the Deep. That means that the upper lay of the water had sunshine in it, as we see at the end of a jetty. Therefore, the Genesis creation week was a special creation week. This account has as its context the ongoing controversy between God and Lucifer/Satan. Psalms tells us that humans were made a little lower than the angels (why?) and Christ told the disciples that when He comes all believers will be like and equal to angels. So the purpose of the Genesis Creation week is to replace the fallen angels with Adam and Eve and their descendants. Look at the following clear quotes from EGW that I found via the EGW compilation, "The Truth About Angels". From these it is clear that other inhabited worlds also existed before the Genesis creation event happened. "God created man for His own glory, that after test and trial the human family might become one with the heavenly family. It was God's purpose to repopulate heaven with the human family.- The S.D.A. Bible Com1:1082. TA 48.7 (38) The vacancies made in heaven by the fall of Satan and his angels will be filled by the redeemed of the Lord.-The R & H, 29.5. 1900. TA38 Peace and joy, in perfect submission to the will of Heaven, existed throughout the angelic host. Love to God was supreme, love for one another impartial. pg28 Such was the condition that existed for ages BEFORE the entrance of sin.-The Spirit of Prophecy 4:316, 317 TAp24 God’s government included not only the inhabitants of heaven but of all the created worlds; and Satan thought that if he could carry the intelligences of heaven with him in rebellion, he could also carry with him the other worlds.-The Review and Herald, March 9, 1886 ta30 Satan declared that he would prove to the worlds… that it was an impossibility to keep the law of God.-The R and H, Sept 3, 1901"

Hi Barend, it's true that God gave all for us, and He expects us to give all for Him, but have you given all for Him? Have you given up eating meat for Jesus ? We are to do all to the glory of God, even what we eat ? Ellen White had difficulty giving up the eating of meat, but she perserved and succeeded. God 's promise to us is, " I can do all things, through Christ, who strengthens me". Are you claiming His promise ? AND getting healthy ?

Thank you for that powerful sermon Pr Barend. Also, at time mark 45:00, it occurred to me that those who believe the Shroud of Turin is the burial cloth of Jesus do not know the Scriptures! John 20:7 says that Peter saw "the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself." Logically then, if any imprint of Jesus' face had actually transferred to the cloth, it would NOT be on the same piece of cloth as any imprint left by the rest of the body. They were separate pieces of cloth according to John 20:7. Yet the Shroud of Turin purports to show an image of the entire body and the face/head on the same piece of cloth.
