Talikota is a tricky topic. The question is more about why did the whole empire mobilize instead of sending an army as is the norm. In essence, the battle is a culmination of the 40 year power struggle from the time of Krishna Raya's dismemberment of Bahamani Sultanate to all the fragments banding together to attack Vijayangara. It's a different thing, though, that, after they destroyed the power of Vijayanagara, they started fighting amongst themselves.

@@ramkrishnan8476 Tamil Nayaks were not involved in Talikota. It's possible that only the theatre troops were involved in this war - for instance, a son of Ramaraya was captured at Bellamkonda. And that means there is a powerful contingent there as well.

There were at least five invasions of Warangal. Battles happened both inside the forts and outside. For instance, the 1322 failed invasion saw massive attacks on Delhi Sultanate troops from armies stationed outside Warangal Fort and the momentum carried them almost till Kaulas Fort. Kakatiyas actually collapsed due to exhaustion than anything else - though as Ranga hints, a level of treachery can't be ruled out.
