We need investment for ScooperleashUSA brand
What % does the investor believe they can help start-up to get out of the accurate TAM SAM SOM calculation?
I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. Please clarify.
@@StartUpNV the question is framed around the entire assumptions that the TAM leads to the Valuation and then the investment. If my TAM is $1.7 billion and the SOM is $580 Million, what chunk of that SOM does the VC believe is appropriate as an investment from their firm?
@@ovurecorporation Hi! It's not so much a percentage. It's that the market is large enough for them to make the 10-50X return they're seeking. It depends on when they're investing as to how much return they seek. The earlier investors want a larger return because they will be diluted in later rounds.
@@StartUpNV my term sheet from Sweden wants no dilution for their $10MM investment in ScooperleashUSA brand in future rounds at a $40 MM pre-money valuation
Uber still loses money. Have they ever been profitable?
An exciting day yesterday I had the opportunity to pitch NurtureLux to@StartUpNV Thank you Maggie,Jeff and your amazing team ❤️ for allowing me to share my passion and helping with quality sleep through comforting design.

Very useful information. I have a question. What is the major difference between startup accelerator and a startup incubator? Thanks in advance
Different folks have different definitions, but generally an incubator has education for entrepreneurs and it can be in a cohort style or self paced. An accelerator generally is competitive to get into and comes with an investment for which the accelerator takes some equity in exchange. Founders should be careful with these types of investments so they know what percentage of the company they are giving in exchange for the investment. It may be a high percentage for a small investment.
I think the jersey rental company's initial approach feels flawed. The people who are diehard fans enough to buy season tickets will undoubtedly already own the jersey of their favorite player(s). In contrast, a casual fan who is starting to appreciate a game will be more interested in a short-term rental for several reasons: finding their size for when they buy, looking at the different styles (mainly for baseball here), fitting in at a new environment, matching their friends who are more invested and brought them along. I feel like this really highlights how there are different ways to consider how a product will serve the market. Also short-term jersey rentals feels so risky, with food, beer, and weather involved, these jerseys, especially the white ones, can easily be ruined beyond cleanable.
Hi, thanks for the comment. The lesson here is not to pick apart the business but to glean how they went about validating their idea. The did research on the sports, and had a thesis to explore. They thought the season ticket holders would be the ones to rent, but as you observed, they were more likely to have purchased a jersey. They went out to test their theory and were able to make better assumptions about their service before starting to sell the service, and refined the services they offered. They were testing and refining their thesis before expending a lot of money. By doing the research, they also discovered a new customer persona in women. Talking to potential customers, and they continuing the dialogue as they become actual customers is the way to delight and keep customers, and to innovate new enhancements or products.
The NV Startup / Incubate program is a great experience - you, Cara, Maggie, Inez... everyone is very helpful. The program will exceed expectations. The program is 😊fast paced and packed with information for budding and experienced entrepreneurs alike 🖖 My 7 minute pitch is at the 1:11:01 min marker 👽
Great source! I noticed that the on the slide "Why?" SOM section requires a little edit. There is a typo: instead of "SAM" should be "SOM is a realistic view..."
The moderator ruined this video with so much potential great information with the endless pointless questions
Hi .thanks for this super useful information. My question ,plz, how the 60% and 40% were calculated in the example?
They based it on their customer survey at the stadium.
Great presentation. I would like to find out how a startup would classify itself if it's working on several products. Example the startup is an innovation company using technology in several solutions. How does it determine its TAM,SAM,SOM? I asked this becsuse a week ago i had 2people wanted to invest in my one of my products of which they thought, was a company. After explaining to them that it's part of a bigger company/idea, they asked me for a pitch deck of which i couldnt provide because, im more of a creator than a business person. I could write about the ideas and get them done but the business aspect of the pitch deck is something ive tried but i find myself building/creating things. So i couldnt meet the deadline provided by the investors. I need assistance with my pitch(business aspect)and co founders. Any help? Thank you
If you have investors interested, that is great. If they see potential in one of your products, you might want to consider developing a company around it. For TAM SAM SOM, left a resource to contact for market research in the TAM SAM SOM video from the same playlist. You may want to watch it first to determine what it is and then take note of the person at UNLV who helps folks out.
Yes, this video walk through is very helpful! Thank you!
Thank you
This was INCREDIBLY USEFUL
Thank you! There are more examples in later versions of this topic.

Thank you, for spreading your knowledge with us! a very practical but great class.
This is very unique, the name was what made me actually click but the idea made me watch. I wonder however, how often the trucks move locations and who will keep the data updated daily. I suppose the trucks would be wanting to let you know where they will be, so , that makes sense
Great information from Leith!
Best explanation I’ve seen thank you
Thank you.

Liz Heiman is a pure sales training pro. This pitch event was lucky to get her.
Liz is a great friend to the Nevada startup community and is even more supportive of youth entrepreneurs! We are lucky to have her in our ecosystem!!
Great job as always, Maggie. I feel like this topic is sooo easy to explain and soooo hard to execute. Ha. Like I feel like I understand all the steps pretty well now. I also feel like I’ve applied them to my business pretty well. But I have this nagging feeling that I’m not quite there yet. Time will tell!
It is simple but not well explained to most people. If you need more advice, you know where to find me! maggie@startupnv.org
Hi ma'am may I ask how to make market share in business plan?
Can you find TAM, SAM, and SOM of the metaverse in the education sector?
Try using Upwork
Hi JiTesh, metaverse in the education sector is a tricky one! Initially it appears that this industry is similar to the online education market, one that has absolutely exploded in 2021, and 2022. This market is projected to reach $166B in 2023, which looks like a great starting point for TAM. Because the educational metaverse is a relatively new industry this number is perfectly okay to use as TAM, as this number will likely grow and change over the years as metaverse technology gets more built out. From there its up to you to determine your target demographic and narrow down this number for SAM and SOM- think about age, gender, and location to determine how many people will actually be serviceable with this product. Hope this helps! Good luck.
this was a great presentation !
Yes, Faye was a hoot (no lack of energy with her!) and Dan was super informative! Thanks for watching!
