How does sending the fuel line next to the engine itself do with the heat from the block? Does the line show any signs of overheating?
Hi, thx for the video. I just installed the 2nd petcock using your "instructions". Did you install additional, in-line fuel filters? Or do you think the filters on the petcocks can do the job? Did you remove the filter from the carburetor?
Did ot come with 2 petcock
Way more oil would of came out if you tipped it more to the right more for a bit longer
Hey man, coolll got the tank, was wondering if you can use pet cock from original tank on one side ? Also, was the rad on the right side in the way ?? You didn't mention, but thought I'd ask... seems close
I have this tank and am about to add a second petcock so found your video useful though I don't think I'll be guessing where centre is for drilling the hole 😅 ATB Jason 👍
Greetings Excellent detailed video 🇺🇸🍾🎉🇺🇸 Would you mind to share with us, your 2 years experience with the acerbis tank in a new video. Thank you for assisting us. Keep producing more videos.
Great video thanks. I just ordered mine but I think I'll be using the stock petcock.
What kind of tires are on your bike?
Now that you've had it awhile, any issues with the brake light visibility during the day?
I put the same brake light on my 2024 dr650. I used a red LED bulb from super bright LED's, you can definitely see it in the day time.
Excellent post, thank you for sharing.
Great mechanic
That is a bit of a stretch, but I appreciate your kind words!
We got the same year dr 650. Im thinking about buying this gas tank. Did you find the added weight from the fuel had a negative impact on the front forks? Thx man. Keep em video coming!
Sorry for the late reply. When I installed the tank it was within a month of purchasing the bike, so I didn't have much time without the tank, and I was still getting a feel for the bike in general. Was also just passed the break-in period, so i was really not pushing the bike to any limits at that point. Suspension is typically a recommended upgrade for the DR anyways, so that will be taken care of at some time in the future, but again, not enough time prior to the extra weight to really know for sure.
Did your tank come with 2petcocks or you had to order an extra?
Had to order an extra. The OEM petcock is not compatible with the tank. You have the option of only running one, but as I stated, quite a bit stays in the low spots (which are larger because larger tank) and I didnt want to have to constantly tip over just to access my fuel. I just run them both open.
Thanks man I'm going to pick up the 2021 solid white one in about a month now I can change my own oil.
I'm planning on upgrading my DR's fuel tank to basically the same setup you have. Thanks for the video, it's very useful.
i to have a 2020 dr650 bought it brand-new off the show room floor already put over 10,000 miles on it been in more wreaks than i can count bike stills runs great
No gas filter on your line?
theres a filter in the OEM carb inlet
@@dbmotoadv2965 is that a mod or is that OEM filter? And what kind of filter? A fine screen or something better?
Good video - When I installed the 25L tank, I found the inside of the extension of the tank on RHS ( throttle side ) rubbed on the oil cooler - the standard Suzuki rubber tank mounts are too soft, when tank is full with fuel. I ended up putting extra thick/harder rubber on the top frame down tube, and on the sides to give tank more clearance. Did you find same problem with a full tank?
Sorry for the late reply. Haven't noticed yet to be honest. I don't see any sort of abrasion on the tank near the cooler. I did notice how soft the mounts were when installing, to the point that the bolt could be tightened right through the mount. I just didn't go that tight and let it have a bit of play. I actually haven't been on the bike yet since the big thaw, so I'll keep all of this in mind when I get the opportunity.
I had the same problem and have just installed a rubber spacer on each side utilising the bolt that holds the cable in position through to the cockpit. Hopefully that will help the sides stay out on a full load. If that doesn’t work the next plan is to take off the oil cooler mount and cut and re-weld the steel mount bringing it 5mm closer to the frame - bringing the top-external corner of the oil cooler in bit closer to the frame and providing greater clearance to the tank.
Have you found that the 25ltr Acerbis tank swells a bit so you can fit more fuel in ?
Not yet. My bike has been put away for the winter for about 3 months now :(
Yes, I have this tank on a DR, filled it once at the Bowser and it took 27 litres. Could have been a suspect pump but I doubt it was out by two litres for just 25 litres.
@@philj3955 Interesting... I have heard that the Safari's swell out upto 37 ltrs. Its not a bad thing as a little extra capacity never goes astray.
Bought the same bike same color. Love it!
Awesome man. Its a good time!
Measure hole location, drill small pilot hole to limit bit walking, then drill to size. Nice tank. A second petcock seems like the only way to functionally use all 6.6 gallons.
While I will admit that she has been on her side, and I knew full well she would be, I didn't want it to be common practice for fuel usage. This is why I opted for the second petcock.
Why two racks? Why not just get like a Tusk luggage rack for half the cost? I got the same bike and was looking at getting this rack too but, I'm torn.
Which two racks are you speaking of? The video only has me installing one, however I did later install the top plate from B&B. I don't really care about price, but I do care how my bike looks and the tusk one one is not aesthetically pleasing to me.
@@dbmotoadv2965 yeah it's the rack plus plate Iwas talking about. I ended up just buying the scaggs rack for around town. I'll get the Procycle / mule rack for long hauls. Thanks for responding, bud! Happy trails and keep up the content!
@@sheepdog819 Right on. I plan on going with rackless luggage so I don't need any side racks, just some mounting points and a good base on the tail.
Do u mind me asking how much u paid for your Dr650 and did u buy it from a dealer?
Also did u have to make any adjustments to the carb?
Bought it new from dealer yes. I've not adjusted my carburetor.
First oil change is really not the one you want to go 500km over on. I'd have even done one at 200km before the 1000km "first" service. In the first 200km is when the oil fills up with metal from the fresh engine.
Okay
500 km over is nuts
Thanks for the video. I have the same bike and skid plate. Your video helps. Waiting to see how you'll do with the acerbis gaz tank. Got the same to, ready to install. Regards.
Thanks for watching. Sorry for the delay on the video, I broke my arm courtesy of the deathwing tires. Fuel tank vid upload scheduled for Saturday.
Hey man, good video! I've been doing my research in which handguards to get for the DR. How was your experience with the 151 set up there? Did they work with the stock bars and levers?
Everything works with stock bars and levers. The only issue I had with the install, was hitting the record button. I'm very pleased with how they turned out, and they've been in the dirt twice now.
@@dbmotoadv2965 Sweet man, thanks for the info!
