Coalisland & East Tyrone - Lough Neagh Partnership
Добавлен 10 дек 2020
"COALISLAND & EAST TYRONE - Historical Manufacturing Base of Mid Ulster"
A community initiative being delivered by Lough Neagh Partnership. The project is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund under the Great Place Scheme grant programme. Additional funding has also been secured from the Mid Ulster District Council. Other partners in the scheme include Queen’s University, the Craic Theatre and various local businesses and community agencies.
The project highlights the heritage of Coalisland and East Tyrone. The principle focus is the story of the manufacturing and extraction industries, such as brickworks, potteries, textile mills, glass factories, sand dredging and coal mining. In addition, the project will feature the canal, railway and road networks that enabled the development of these industries. The impact of man’s activities across the centuries is also being investigated by exploring the links between landscape and place-names.
