I grew up there and lived across the street from Garvey Park on Dorothy Street. Went to Duff Elementary. Left there in 1978. Loved it there.

My dad bought our home for $23,000 in 1970 in the foothills of Monrovia. It's worth about $900,000 now. It was a bit embarrassing to say I lived in Monrovia in the beginning but the downtown redevelopment happened and before we knew it President Clinton was calling it the All-American City. Both my sister and her family and I live in Monrovia and we still own our parents' home. I have many good memories here and I believe this town has been good to my family. I'm still friends with people I went to Mayflower, Wildrose, and Clifton Schools, and Monrovia High School.

Hey, I rarely comment on videos, but this one came up on my feed! Firstly, good job on your speech. You seemed really confident and spoke clearly, which I enjoyed. I was born, raised, and still live in SGV as well. I knew all the topics you touched upon. I do think that the food and culture is unmatched compared to many places in the US. Our schools are pretty good for being Calfifornian. And I had a free fourth grade field trip to the SG Mission. Shoutout!

Im from Monrovia. This guy has no idea what hes talking about lol. The exaggeration of some of these things is funny. The price range is probably the only thing accurate but you also get what you pay for. For the most part, Monrovia is a clean, safe, fun, family friendly, and really does have the small town feel, for sure. The wild life is not a PROBLEM. The bears that come down, come down once in a while, but they stay fairly close to the mountains. Besides that, the only wildlife youll see a-lot of are probably deer, squirrels, racoons, and opossums. Coyotes come down but also rarely, and they usually stay close to the mountains as well. The ones that come down are easily scared away. The air quality obviously has the possibility of going down when theres a fire, just like anywhere else… but thats it, only if theres a fire. Aside from that, the air quality is great, especially compared to bigger cities like LA. As far as night life, theres plenty of new bars and restaurants you can hit up, the city also holds plenty of events for families and events for just adults. If clubbing or whatever is your thing, then like most other places youll have to travel to LA Or just out of town lol. Monrovia is a place to move to if you want quality of life and simplicity. The people are friendly, and ive made plenty of great memories and great relationships here.

You didn't try looking at my current failing Hometown. It's 100x more ghetto and has high crime rates and number 1 in Human Trafficking like California they are moving out and started out their own Exodus to North Carolina. Yeah, I know SGV is Expensive but a safer Area than SFV. Yeah, California is Expensive in general! But, if I were to Choose over Arcadia vs Monrovia; I would have to say Monrovia. Yeah, My sister sells houses in my hometown and she couldn't make much money anymore because of the whole NC move in. I am originally from Atlanta, GA and trust me; it's not the same GA state as it used to be. It's getting scary like the second Detroit, MI.

I Lived at 510 S. Magnolia Ave. , Sold my House in 2004 , Glad I did .. I never had much issues with Wild Animals, we had Opossum and Raccoons every once in a While , but No Bears or Mountain Lions...

when I go back to San Gabriel, my heart sinks, it has changed for the worst. I grew up in San Gabriel. most everything that I loved about it, is gone, or has changed. I almost don't know it.
