If you attend a conference on sistemic work hopefully you would now respect boundaries and be on time and not disturb everyone when late? And with taht I mean the students coming in late and disrupting everyting. No. "Healer heal thouself first"

I wish these people would read people like William M Epstein - therapy doesn't work and can be harmful. There is nothing genuine about the relationship in therapy.

Excellent, so many authors and public intellectuals - people who I value - misunderstand and misrepresent social constructionism. Sheila takes time to discuss how systems construct meanings that establish patterns. It really is that simple yet chomsky, pinker, dawkins, and so many otherwise thoughtful people seem to ignorantly pervade the myths of social constructionism. I say "myths" because I have never read a postmodern writer, a derrida, a foucault, a Bakhtin or whoever, that claims reality is literally made from language. Great, inspiring talk.

I wanted the therapist to stop interjecting when the man was discussing himself as a little boy. Sometimes therapists just need to get out of the way of the therapeutic process! It was clear that the initial prompt of asking the little boy into the room with them was an excellent one, and allowed for substantial material to keep emerging. Some of the re-framing by the therapist was useful, but I wish she would have deepened the direction by asking the man to talk **directly** to the little boy in the room; perhaps that would have allowed for the man to act and say the things that he wished someone would have said to him when he was five, further softening and ultimately transforming his feelings of shame (or abandonment, or ...) Clearly, this would likely have had even a greater impact on the other partner's emotional softening.

I really like this. Thank you for sharing. Your work has encouraged me in my work as a former therapist and a current systemic life coach. I love the reminder of working within systems as a practitioner as well.
