JULY 4TH SPECIAL: CAPTAIN AMERICA BICENTENNIAL BATTLES BY JACK KIRBY!
For my money, one of the few early Image books with something to actually say. Probably my all time favorite Image book.
@@markriedel7760 it was definitely in my top 5. Especially for the story.
You should make a gallery of your art, js
This cover just screams 80s, I love it
That definitely is a very dated cover, but I still would be interested in reading some of those old Thundercat comics
@@markriedel7760 I'm going to do more of them. I liked them for the most part.
I found the front cover a bit odd too, but enjoyed it
👍👍
this is funny, i like it.
Hilarious
God ill let you turn me into Joe Swanson if you wipe that Abomination out of existed
Hey, we got that animed up version of thundercats inbetween. I got no issue that they tried the Deviant art "Take me seriously" version before the "Keep the IP Alive" version. I count my privilege. Though..... lets face it (and even I deny it) We all ONLY LIKE THE THEME SONG to the original show. For real. Everything after the themesong was us settling. Liono arm wrestles a caveman for a treasure? Fine. Robo koala bears? Fine. Robot Pirates? Fine. Sword of omens broken by Tug Mug? Fine. Mumra afraid of his own reflection? Fine Mumra using Exacalibur? Fine. Cheetara stops using super speed to become the team psychic like every other girl in fiction? Fine. Liono technically being the same age as Willy Kit and Kat? Fine. And it is also fine that they are all naked on episode 1 and leave Cat Krypton to land on a post-post-apocalyptic earth. OG Thundercats was weird even by Heman standards. The fact we got that anime version was GENEROUS to say the least. Thundercats roar.....yeah it pissed me off, but not because it was silly and childish. It is because it was silly and childish in a way disconnected from the silliness of the OG. Something that says "Yeah, this is the same franchise". Like Liono crash lands on 3rd earth seperately and gets raised by Roboburbles while everyone else is in cryo sleep. So he is both raises as a manchild, yet is also the most adapted to life on 3rd earth. "You are our king, Liono! You have to start acting like one". "Oh Panthy wanthy, bleep blorp bop. You just need to get with the times, old man. This is 3rd earth. Now meet my girlfriend Robo Betty". "Madam it is an honor to.......WAIT. NO!. I am not bowing to a robot bear!". "GASP! No you did not! Shh, Robo Betty. He did not mean it. Mean old panthy is just has old world values. He is set in his ways". "YOU ARE OUR KING! ACT LIKE IT!"
Still trying to find this. Is it for sell? I loved it. Who cares about anyone else
I liked the j scott campbell characters
I was a big fan too.
I still have mine, and it too is well read. Crazy that it's 48 years old!
Cap was sent through history in unrelated vignettes (the story was VERY thin) to "remind him of what he represented.
u got a new subscriber
You have to put the hands and feet outside the panel, then make the head too small lol
You're right. Back to the drawing board!
@@Ghost_Girl_Bob I will say, back when hit big, hit character designs were awesome. in his defense.
I love early Liefeld! I just finished a video of an issue of New Mutants with his artwork. The new stuff is horrible.
@Ghost_Girl_Bob yeah I learned more off Jim Lee and his Xmen run. He did the New Mjtants to X force change over- he turned that whole book around. And his split into image with the others. Artwork aside he did pull off some things
I think he peaked on Youngblood #2. It was downhill after that.
That was by far, the most insulting video made about Rob Liefeld's work. I don't like his art. And plenty of videos were made about his art. But to take a re-drawing video and tear down the man's life like that isn't warranted. Has he done something to you personally? Just because you can draw better than him doesn't mean you're a better person. I'd ask you to redo this video, but I doubt that's gonna happen.
Firstly, thanks for the compliment! I appreciate it. Liefeld never did anything to me personally but I do find it frustrating that he makes as much as he does with so little respect for the medium. I guess my anger got the better of me. What changes would you have me make when I redo this video? Let me know.
Ghost girl is giving me some strong Spidey vibes. Looks good! Would love to learn more about the character. I didn't even know DC put out an AD&D comic back in the day. Thanks for featuring this comic on your video. It actually looks pretty cool! I'll have to see if I can find any copies of the series out in the wild.
@@sebastianstark8517 idw brought out the collected editions a while ago. You may still be able to find them. Thanks for the compliments!
@@Ghost_Girl_Bob Good to know, thank you. And most welcome!
Awesome art!
👍👍
cool!
Remember picking that up at gas station one day for something to read
That og is some aeon flux ass art.
I love this version of Catwoman! I've got some of them in Mexico.
I got Catwoman #1.😀👍
Nice work, Bob! Are any copies available for sale online?
I do have some more copies but don't have them for sale online yet. I should set up an etsy or something soon. I will keep you posted. Thanks.
I think they kept squeezing Boom Boom's boobs into the panel or else she would just look like Cannonball ... I don't know what he was thinking giving her that hairstyle.
Now that you mention it, they did look way too similar.
Thanks for the awesome video love your art im a big fan of d and d and comics and I'm a artist writer who is working on a fantasy comic right now I'm just trying to get my drawing chops up anyhow great video and good luck with your comic
@@user-th8bn5mk4q thanks dude! I appreciate the remarks.
FYI, John L Sullivan was the first heavyweight boxing champion
I got X-force #5.😀👍
That "B. Smith" is Barry Windsor-Smith. You can see his own unique style sneak through in some of the inks.
@@RaymondRich I didn't know that!
I still have the copy i bought when i was kid.
I got this when it came out back in the '70s. Glad to see a new generation appreciating the real masters of the art
i actually had this book the red skull was done up as a hessian soldier , kirby wasn't the only 1' that stan lee screwed over steve ditko , marv wolfman and a few others that made marvel stand out in the 70's and very early 80's
@@sonnysantana5454 I know. It's very sad what Stan Lee was a part of.
Stan Lee didn’t screw over anyone.
Sweet, have mine in a long box on it's side. Really scared to see what condition it's in )
@@justsurfin5013 this isn't even my copy, it belongs to a friend. I was trying to be very careful with this copy.
Cool
I read the digital version of this after IDW released a D&D Humble Bundle a few years back. It's always hard to get into a comic when reading digital, but it was far from the worst thing I've read. Maybe I'll go back to it someday...
@@fortcastellan1730 I own the TPB of the entire series from IDW. I also bought big lots of the single issues before the TPB's were released. Lol.
Uncanny xforce around 2010 had the dark angle saga One of the best archangel stories ever
@@deadmanwade3618 I will have to check that out. Thanks!
Thanks for the heads-up about this comic. I was starting college about that time, and wasn't previously aware of it. Did this comic have a big influence on your own style of artistry?
@@whiskeyvictor5703 While I love Jan Duursema's artwork, I was more influenced by the likes of Mcfarlane and Larsen and such.
Great work! I love it!
@@barrettrussell6210 thanks!
😘🙂 Elvira my favorite goddess of the night whoop whoop
@@Jameswormsley319 I'm with ya! Been a big fan since I was a kid.
@@Ghost_Girl_Bob 👍👍
❤🙌
loved the cartoon (still watch it even today) but the comics - hated that they changed Diana's costume from the cartoon -- also something seems off with the artwork from the comics, they could have made them look like the cartoon. not a fan of the artwork but still got the first few issues to make the connecting covers
@@CHASEMARC I'm a huge fan of the cartoon, that's why the comic was a disappointment. I actually did a "part 2" to this video that will come out in a few days.
👍👍
Spiderman is cool af but I bow only to the Queen of the Night
Agreed!
That Elvira drawing is crazy… I NEED to improve asap.
You'll get there. All I can say is keep practicing.
Also I have a recording of another drawing of Elvira on my channel. Check it out, I think you'll like it.
@@Ghost_Girl_Bobyour right I did like it but I have a question. Why do you start your drawings from the head and not the body? I’m relatively new to drawing and seen videos by Jim Lee and he says to start with the body (which is what I try to do.) I ask this question not from a place of arrogance but I just genuinely want to know your methods.
I don't always start with the head. It depends on the picture I'm drawing. When drawing digitally I don't have to worry about getting it the right size since I can shrink it or expand as much as I want which you can't do on paper.
I have this comic I stop collecting like 95 I have 120-350 Spider-Man I am Older than you lol
I have 1000 1# Todd McFarlands
