SAND LANCE
Просмотров 89Месяц назад
The sand lance is a small, silver forage fish that plays an important role in the ecosystem’s food web. Staying true to its name, the sand lance is known for burrowing face-first into the sand on the seafloor and they are an important part of our PNW salmon. #flytying #flyfishing #salmon
KRILLORAMA

Another krill pattern that I will be testing this summer for PNW salmon off the beach.I will also try different colours threads like chartreuse, orange and pink. #flytying #flyfishing #saltwaterflyfishing

BABY BASS
Просмотров 1574 месяца назад
Last year at a favorite local river for the first time I saw a small bait football shaped bait fish almost 2 inches that I had never seen before, at first I thought it was a stickle back but then realized it looked different so I took a picture and when I arrived home and looked it up it was a bass,.Although they are considered an invasive species in our river system but I wonder if other preda...
SIMPLE FRY #4

Not all salmon fry have the same colour backs and bellies and that's why I tie different shades from as dark as black, night blue to light olive for different river systems on our local rivers. #flyfishing #flytying #salmonfry
GLOW MINNOW
Просмотров 1486 месяцев назад
Didn't get a chance last year to try this pattern out as I didn't encounter a school of cutthroat, hopefully this year.Jut wanted to try something that shows well in darker water than clear to see what the outcome would be. #flyfishing #flytying #epoxyminnow

SIMPLE SPEY II

Another simple spey for steelhead season.when I tie for fishing the fly and not for display then I counter wind the tinsel to keep the hackle from breaking off.
EGGZ-ACTLY
Просмотров 1328 месяцев назад
After the salmon have spawned the eggs are buried in the gravel, when the river levels rise periodically during the winter months the loose eggs get washed down the river, this is when trout eat the eggs. This pattern that I designed is weighted because of the bead used to imitate the egg so you can eliminate the use of split shots to add weight to your egging set up with or without an indicator.
BULL ZONKER
Просмотров 1268 месяцев назад
After the eggs are done small fish like juvenile trout or sculpins are the primary source of food in the winter months until the salmon fry hatch in the spring. You can fish this fly close to shore with a floating line or on a type 3 sinktip for a little deeper presentation. #flytying#flyfishing #bulltrout
GOLD RUSH

A twist to an old classic pattern "Mickey fin" style. Many years ago I tied a similar version but using krystalflash tied really sparse for fishing the clear waters on the Harrison river in BC. The coho are very finicky there especially when they sit in the pools. #flytying #flyfishing #salmon
Very nice fly Andre. 👍👍👍👍
Thank you.
Nice fly! Durable and easy to tie. 👍👍👍👍
Thanks .Yes very simple pattern.
Awesome looking Krill pattern. What species do you use it for?
Thanks. My main target will be coho.
Very nice Andre. I need a few of these; have to tie some! 👍👍👍👍
Thanks.
Awesome fly Andre!! 👍👍👍👍
Thank you.
Excellent fly Andre! Great colour combination! 👍👍👍👍
Thank you.
Hi Andre, when do you expect the salmon fry to be on the move this year?
It's temperature dependent, as soon as you get 10 days or so of consistent double digit temps you will see them pop.The first place you want to check it the Stave river as it is very shallow and the sun warms up the the river bed sooner than other systems.
Thanks Andre, appreciate it.
Perfect bull trout fly. Thank you for sharing it
Thank you for watching and the support.
Damn giving him a fresh cut
Great fly, love the music!
Thank you my friend.
Dear Sir, Your video is very good but I got some problem with your channel and video. So your channel doesn't grow fast and views, likes, comments on videos don't increase.
😱
Very good video.
Nice tie, im wondering why you have selected braid as your tail and wing as well as hoochie tentacle for your body wrap? Could it be substitute w chenille body or scud back for body and krystal flash or other hair as leg and tail?
Yes I do have other flies like this using those material. Always testing new material that might entice the fish to strike or reflect light differently. The braid is stiffer like KF so it doesn't collapse when it gets wet and when you fray it out it looks messy just like the real euphausid. As far as the body this hootchie is clear UV not to be mistaken with just the clear ones. Nature has made this crustation luminous under low light conditions as they mostly show and our seen by the fish, if you shine the UV light you will see what the fish see and the other reason is the rubbery texture which feels more life like as they bite into it and not spit it out fast. All my flies are designed for North shore Ambleside fishery which is the hardest place to catch a coho in N.America, very tight lipped, picky fish that don't eat at the estuary.By all means try different materials that is what I do every year and test them as I don't sell flies that I don't catch fish on them. Thanks for the support.
@@Frenzyflies.thank you for the response, that was very informative! You mention in your description you fish this fly with floating line and intermittent twitches. Would it just be like a lifeless presentation in the current? Or kinda of like a slow strip w twitches and pause
@@THFlyFishing You have to vary the speed and fish the fly in it's natural state. I don't know if I know you from when I worked at Pacific Angler but I suggest taking the Fly fishing beach course next year, very intense 3 hour course, a lot of information that I have gathered the last 40 years on the beach.
Lucky Pinks, nice fly!
Thanks.
Awesome pattern! I take it meant for swinging givin its size and flash placement on top?
Yes as well as swinging, I fish these patterns on the Squamish river as in August the river is pretty colored up. I fish them on a floating line with a 12ft leader and as they roll mostly on the surface when they are moving up you can actually strip them and they will follow and eat it avoiding snags with sink tips.
Great looking pattern!! Gonna try a few.
Thank you.
Hey Andre, why tie in the braid if you wrap over it with the pink body? Love the pattern, Alex
Hi Alex, the braid is UV Frost lagartun and it glows underneath which the natural crustacean does at low light, if you had nothing it would not be the same, plus the Lagartun braid in Frost is one of the best materials I have ever used for my beach flies, not to be mistaken for pearl braid .Another option I did but this is way better was to wrap silver tinsel back in the day. Good luck.
perfect timing!
Great!!
Awesome Fly! Another great Tie! 👏👏👏👏💪👍
Thank you.
Thanks Andre
Thank you. Tie a few you will see how it looks in the water.
Thanks for another great looking fly.... I will definitely tie a few up
Thank you.
Doesn’t the fly ride upside down?
The dumbell is too small to do that and and usually I am swinging these downstream early season when the fry are just coming off the bottom, the fry at that stage are disoriented still before they are fully hatched and coming down in small patches close to the surface the which by then I fish my epoxy fry.
Another killer pattern. BEAUTY!
Thank you.
Very nice
Thank you.
Nice pattern Andre
Thank you
It's quite a fishy looking fly! But I must say, as a close personal friend of Darth's, you didn't capture his best side. The nose and chin are all wrong. And what is with those eyebrows?? I mean, have you ever even met Darth Vader???
Great fly andre!
Thank you.

Btw chumbalaya has been working very well to me :)
That's great!Happy to hear that.
You make the tying to look quite straight forward but aligning those wings is a quite challenging procedure. Love the classics :) thank you for sharing
Yes it takes a lot of practice. You can always flatten the rachis with flat nose pliers so it is not round and stops the feather from rolling which is a common practice when tying classics.
🤘🤘🤘Newman!!!
That’s definitely going to my box! Thank you Andre! Your flies are really good!
Thank you. Yeah it's a great fly I fished it on Sunday (Oct23) on the Vedder river and got bunch of chums and hooked 5 coho.
You need to hold the camera still. For me, that's unwatchable.
You gave me a pattern for exactly the materials I have, and that can be adapted to a spey format. In the right time when I looking of ideas. Can't ask for more!
Great!
Love your videos Andre. Great tie.
Thank you for watching.
Lets Go!
Thanks for sharing Andre! I took your beach fly tying course a few weeks ago and that hoochie material was such an interesting find, been trying it in a few different flies now. Looking forward to the upcoming beach class!
Thanks Jacob.. yes it is going to be good, see you then.
Thanks Andre, how are you fishing this fly? Under an indicator?
Yes, suspended close to the bottom as they are mostly in colder temps before it warms up a little.
Great fly!! Is this also known as the Dixie Wiggler ?
Lovely tie Andre--simpler than a GP but has similar characteristics with the use of pheasant rump--would you use bucktail interchangeably with the squirrel tail?
Thank you Michael, yes by all means you can if you like.
No way, Andre is thinking about Cutthroat
You bet I am, my favorite fishery here.
Loved this fly and the music all together was such an wonderful thing
Thank you.
Do you swing this or float under and indicator?
You can fish them under an indicator or dead drift also known as high sticking like nymphing technique...do not swing.
Love the flies
Thank you everyone for your support, the winner will be announced on Pacific Angler's fishing report on Friday Oct 15th. Next giveaway will be at 500 subscribers hopefully soon😀
I want that box! Let me be more polite, I'd love to have your collection of flies, thanks for the great videos..!
Hi Andre I want that box. Hopefully your flies will improve my fishing as much as your on the water instruction did.
