Barton Lake Bass Tournament

Spencer and I try fishing against one another on Barton Lake this time. I've been finding lots of big bass this fall so I'm hoping to find some here to get the win.
Birthday Fishing Trip - Part Two

What a crazy way to end the day. Sometimes luck plays a bigger part in fishing than we believe. I'm glad that luck clued me into something special.
Birthday Fishing Trip - Part One

I had the day off on election day so I spent some of it on the lake. It was very windy all day and I ended up fishing two different lakes.
Crazy Topwater Fishing In November

Scotty Bud joins me for the second week in a row to battle against Spencer on Portage Lake. Once again it is cold and duck hunters are hidden somewhere in the fog.
Something Better Than A Five Pounder

I took another short trip to Long Lake, talked to someone I know and caught a fish or two. I didn't catch a 5 pounder this trip but maybe I got something better.
A Windy Day on Long Lake

The wind was blowing hard on this trip but that is typical fall fishing and it was worth battling the wind on this day.
Juno Lake Bass Fishing Tournament
Просмотров 19314 дней назад
I was joined by Scotty Bud to battle against Spencer on Juno, Painter and Christiana Lakes on a foggy morning with duck hunters around so we had to alter our plans a little bit. Did we make the right choices?
Catching Big Fish Every Trip
Просмотров 24321 день назад
I have finally been finding some big fall bass and getting at least one to bite just about every trip the last couple of weeks.
Chatterbait Does It Again
Просмотров 31321 день назад
I decided to give Sherman Lake another try and the chatterbait came through big time this trip.
Chatterbait Catches Big Bass
Просмотров 28921 день назад
I've been trying the chatterbait more often after catching one good bass on it recently and it hasn't let me down yet.
Fall Jerkbait Fishing

I spent another afternoon looking for more big, fall bass in Long Lake.
A Little Better Fishing Trip

I went back to Long Lake in the middle of the day thinking they'd be hungry then. I wasn't completely wrong.
Fall Fishing Is Not Going Well

Keep It or Return It - Trika 6X Spinning Rod 11 Month Review
Nice fish! What was the water temp?
I'm review Trika rod for over 4-6 months.. you the only one saying not feel right.. it's not your fault.. 🤷🏼♂️.. but used for 11 months to figure out ..🤷🏼♂️.. but ok to return .. every one taste different ..👌👌
The land of GIANTS…😂😂
I know, I know. Thought we’d find a few better ones though.
Great Trip Kevin it doesnt get much better than that! Happy B Day!
Thanks and no it doesn't! I wish that stuff happened more often but if you spend enough time on the water then you can be thankful when it does happen.
Exactly!
You’re killin me man! I winterized my boat last week and geared up for winter here in my shop for the season. Love watching you! ❤️🎣
Ha! Not my fault. Still looks like a week of ok weather before it starts getting questionable. Thanks for all the support!
Very cool! Happy birthday and nice pic at the end holding up those bass👍
Thank you!
Nice bag dude!! Happy Birthday!!
Thanks Mark!
A good trip!
It was. Why didn’t I find that first thing in the morning! That would have been amazing.
Happy birthday. Great catches
Thank you!
6 portage lakes at least in Mi so wasn't sure which this one was at first.
Out side of the comfort aspect, did you think the trika rod was more sensitive and cast further as advertised? I bought th 7' ML/fast 6x for drop shotting, and I thought the sensitivity was great. I cant say ive tried other $300 similar rods though.
I thought the sensitivity was good for the price. I don’t do a lot of light, finesse stuff like drop shot or ned rigs but it felt at least as sensitive as other $300-$400 rods I’ve used. I did a couple casting comparisons and didn’t see a difference between them.
I love the new grip on the st croix avids. They are the same as the gloomis E6X. Also love my cork grips and nothing else
I’ll have to take a look at the new avids. I used to like the one I had but wasn’t a huge fan of the power hump on the foregrip. I also prefer cork grips to any other material.
Gotta love them smallies! Looks like that choppy water had em feeding a bit! Have you ever tried a gold trap on portage?
I wish I could catch smallies more consistently around here. I have tried a gold trap but didn’t stand out as being any better than the colors I usual throw.
Portage lake just off of the big lake? North of Manistee? Great videos It's good to see someone fishing in my area and actually catching fish. We'll be heading to Mattawan, Eagle lake next weekend.
Not that Portage Lake. This one is south of Vicksburg. Glad you like the videos. Good luck on Eagle. I grew up fishing there and crooked lake near it.
Someday I hope to catch a big one.....
Someday…
Hope those come into good use!! Always good running into you out there!!
I’ve already caught some good fish with them. Hope to see you out there again soon
You better eat those pike! 😂
Ha, if nothing more than to get them out of the lake,
Thats Awesome! Is that why my Ex Son in Law sells me expensive tackle that he doesnt want cheap? Lol
Ha, that may be why!
Another Chunk!
Crazy I know!
I Would keep going back until It ran dry!!
Another 5# chunk (congrats)! Amazing how cool weather and less to no fishing pressure bring out the big girls this time of year. Have you tried the chatter in the mid-summer dog days in deeper 15-20ft depths? 👍
Thanks! Yes, I love the big fish and no pressure this time of year. I try it occasionally deep in the summertime but I haven’t spent enough time with it to get a consistent bite that way. I’m slowly forcing myself to fish deeper and deeper but still don’t fish deeper than about 20’
keeping that momentum rolling!!
It’s been pretty crazy! Hoping for another week or two of big fish biting.
You’ve been killing it with the chatter bait! I only get bites on my micro zman chatter bait. Any tips?
I certainly am not a chatterbait expert. What I’ve been doing is fishing a 3/8 oz as close to the bottom as I can and add a rod twitch and pause a few times during the retrieve. I’m fishing along a break line from 5-20’ with some weeds and and lots of bait. I thing the weeds and bait have been the most important thing honestly.
@ what color have you had the most success with?
I usually throw a white or Shad color but I had good luck on a green or bluegill color recently. I haven’t used them enough to nail down a favorite here
Nice work bud!!
Thanks Timm!!
You’re killin me man! I gotta winterize my boat and get ready for hunting season and you keep pulling in hogs…😂❤️
Ha, you don’t have too but I never complain about the lakes being completely empty in November
Awesome Day on the water!! Congrats!1
Thanks! It was fun.
Those are some fat healthy bass, sitting in my tree stand thinking I should be on the st Joe chucking chatter baits and traps! Congrats on those good fish👍
I keep wanting to go to the river. Hopefully I’ll get there soon.
man im pumped for you been crushing them lately !
Thanks man! I know my luck will run out soon but I hope not.
Hey Kevin! Now thats an Awesome Fall Bag. That almost 6lber was a tank! Its been picking up for me too but nothing like that! Great job!!
Thanks Doug! Stick with it any hopefully you’ll have the same success this fall. Let me know when you do!
Oh Yeah Ill keep at it until the snow flies! Good Luck to you!
i fish here very often there are some big bass but the bite is always tough
It’s been tough the few times I have fished it but there are lots of different places to explore trying to find them which I like.
I always do well on Juno and Christiana…got my boat stuck on painter 😂
Ha, it’s easy to get in really shallow water in all the lakes. I have fished Christiana the least of them all. Somehow the other two feel better to me.
Shots fired!
I’d say.
Scotty is a phenomenal net man..😂
Ha! Yes he is!
Try a swim jig with a swim bait trailer there
I bet that would be good but I never use swim jigs so it's probably a good place to learn it. I just always chose the spinnerbait for the flash.
Sunset lake
I noticed that you didn't have any baitcasters onboard. Is that due to the lures you were fishing?
I don’t have any baitcasters because I prefer using spinning rods. Just personal preference really.
What brand and color jerk baits do you use? Most of mine I have bought to fish for pike up north so I really haven’t had any luck with them down here. Also, what plastic are you using with the chatter bait?
I think most jerkbaits are pretty good and pretty similar but the ones I use the most are the Rapala Shadow Raps, both shallow and deep and the Megabass Vision 110 jr and jr+1. I've tried the new Rapala Mavrik 110 and liked it as well. For colors I tend to favor the ghost minnow or pro blue style. Something translucent but with a little flash and maybe a little chartreuse on the bottom. I also have a lot of confidence in the purpledescent color of the Shadow Raps.
@@geezersbassin2567 Thanks! Most of mine are shadow raps but I dont have anything translucent. I will try that out for sure. Do you any opinions about jerk baits with the ball bearings compared to none?
@@andrewpherson5406 Usually the ball bearings help with casting distance, add some noise, and help them suspend so I use that kind most often.
Great Largie! It only takes one if those to make a year!
Yes, that one will do it for me! But I’d be ok with a second one that big before winter.
Oh Yeah! Me too!
Hello!! Nice video site! What weight are you using on the chatterbait? Thanks
Thanks! It’s a 3/8 oz that I’ve been using lately.
If you arent getting a hook set with chatterbait change colors. The bait is right something is just off. Color change might take it better.
Thanks for the tip. I don’t change colors enough probably. Almost never really.
have you tried the big blade chatter bait?
No I haven’t. Have you? If so do you like them?
@@geezersbassin2567 I recently saw one in the store, but I decided not to buy it though because it was a little expensive compared to the normal chatter bait, I would assume it performs similar to the googan squad click bait which has a deep thumping wobble with an adjustable depth
great catch I notice you don't use bait casters any reason why?
Thanks! I’ve had a few and just didn’t feel comfortable using them. Since I just fish for fun I decided to just use what I enjoy fishing with instead of feeling pressured to learn them. I’m sure there is benefits to them that I am missing but for now that doesn’t bother me.
@@geezersbassin2567 makes sense to me I usually prefer open face because of the drag noise but I have an easier time making cast under logs, trees, brush or skipping under docks and casting heavier baits not to forget football jigs or punching through weeds
Dandy fish👍! Sure looks like a 6 to me (she’s chunky). 3/8 or 1/2 oz chatter?
I agree!! I’ve been throwing a 3/8 oz
Spinning Rods & Jig n' Pigs!??? That's insane! Like Peanut Butter & Jelly without the milk 😲
I rarely eat pb & j with milk so I’ll check myself into the mental hospital in the morning. Probably don’t want to hear I use 8 lb fluoro either.
right off a jerk/twitch too, awesome slob and fight!!
That jerk and quick pause has triggered some of my big bites lately. I use that with lots of baits like traps, spinnerbaits and crankbaits
Water temp?
I think it was around 57.
@@geezersbassin2567nice going !!!
Nice fish dude... how deep was she?
Not sure exact depth but between 15-20'
Nice fish!!
Thanks!
Toadzilla!!!
I thought it was going to be even bigger when I got it out of the net.
how many feet of water are you fishing in?
Basically 10-15' is the zone I'm targeting give or take a few feet depending
Hey a couple nice ones! Im seeing numbers are down but Quality is up! By best 5 on Tuesday evening were 11.5 lbs . The next couple weeks should be good! Good luck on your next trip!
I’m hoping the next couple weeks are great. That’s a good tuesday night trip. Good luck as well.
Thanks alot! We have to get out as much as possible until the snow flies! Enjoy your videos!
