This is a few weeks after he'd been trapped and vet-treated for multiple infections and wounds. He had his own safe room with hiding places, but was freaked out at being constrained and scared of trusting. When I trapped him his coat was in a dreadful state, he stank, and didn't groom, so I started gentle daily grooming sessions which he quickly grew to love, plus they kick-started his own instinct to groom. Slowly but very surely a close bond formed and a rather dashing and hugely affectionate boy emerged.
